Perhaps you've never heard of competition. Did you know that health companies cannot compete nation wide. Imagine how much costs and premiums would go down if the same company who offered coverage in Florida, could also offer it in Iowa.

You would instantly see premiums lower and more services covered as they scramble to win new customers and bids.

HA! HA! HA! HA! ROTFLMFAO!!! Are you really that misinformed, or did o'liely tell you that whopper, or did it come from rick scott's propaganda of fearmongering?

First off, nobody stops insurance companies but themselves. They pull out of markets on their own accord, since their profits have dropped.

Competition? Give me a break........all they want to do is make bigger and bigger profits on our backs, charging more for their premiums and giving less services and higher co-pays, higher deductibles and less coverage for everything. You're sadly misinformed.

As far as I'm concerned, I just hope that we can get SP-UHC soon, but if that doesn't happen, just a government-run OPTION for those of us without the access to group rates from corporate America. Then YOU can keep your over-priced health care from your for-profit insurance company that just keeps going higher and higher in the 21st century.

Life is all about OPTIONS, and I just hope I will soon have the option that the for-profit insurance companies have been fighting for decades, since it will put them out of business!

obama promised no new taxes on people who make under a certain amount, he campaigned against health benefit taxes. if he allows this proposal to go through, he will have misled people. what a shame. but what's new?

Still ANOTHER campaign issue that Obama is "waffling" on!

How many does that make now??

I suppose when you get the "BRASS RING", promises you made don't matter anymore!!!

American Politics (run by Corporate America!) at Work!!!

If the government taxes my health care. I will cancel mine and go on welfare.

Let us know how that works out for you, since America reformed welfare back in the 90's, and you might have to give away any material possessions like homes, cars and bank accounts to even be considered for 2 years of welfare. Let us know how that dumb idea works out for you.

single payer does not equal socialized medicine!
Posted by phmlpn
----------------------

No it doesn't, but the republican'ts use the "socialization" word for fearmongering.

America spends $217 Million per hour, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for a total of almost $2 trillion spent every year, 16% of our GDP - more than any other nation on earth. And for what?

To make bigger profits for the GREEDY for-profit insurance companies, where they are allowed to make all the decisions, and put the patient dead last! Literally, since over 100,000 Americans die from mistakes in the hospital every year!

America ranks 37th in the world for best health care systems, behind countries we'd expect like France, Japan, and Norway, and also countries that might surprise you, like Colombia, Saudi Arabia, and Chile.

Perhaps you also have not heard of 6 months waits for routine exams under "government health care". When companies try to control costs its called greed, but the government would need to do the same thing. its called rationing.

These big insurance companies and employers have spoiled us rotten and now are pulling the rug out from under us.

"Spoiled us rotten?".........how do you sound?

These for-profit insurance companies have only increased health care premiums much faster than the rate of inflation to keep-up with massive CEO salaries, bonuses and golden parachutes, much like CPR rick scott, the billionaire convicted fraud campaigning on more of the same with the usual republican't propaganda!

When will you and your ilk finally understand that corporate America lost its competitiveness in this global economy years ago with the albatross of rising health care costs hung around its necks, despite them getting the biggest breaks from the for-profit insurance companies?

Try running a small business and affording health care in the 21st century for yourself and your few employees. There are no group rates for small business and definitely none for individuals, and heaven help you if you have a pre-existing condition.

America ranks 37th in the world for best health care systems, behind countries we'd expect like France, Japan, and Norway, and also countries that might surprise you, like Colombia, Saudi Arabia, and Chile. It's well past time for CHANGE and REFORM.

to nolies74621, My comments about single payer system was the way to go was by experience. I lived in Belgium, as a Belgian, not as an American with tricare. The care I received was excellent, but not free. I never waited for surgeries(I have in the USA), or weeks for appointments for strep throat w/ children(I have in the USA).
I have had my health insurance in the USA terminated though, due to the company finding out I have a genetic autosomal dominate syndrome(one that can not be prevented, and I have even with a drug free, tobacco free and very healthy life style). The insurance we had through my husbands employer was not free(we paid over $500 per month for the self funded plan).Deductables were high, and it often took the insurance weeks to decide if procedures were covered. The plan often ran out of money and left us paying bills for services that were contracted to be paid by the insurance. When I had surgery in Belgium, sure I was in a room with 3 other women, but I was not denied the surgery like I have been in the USA with insurance I paid a heck of alot for.
What I do know is that for profits corporations have the profits for their shareholders as the primary concern. They must, that is what a corporation must do. With tricare, you must be in the military or US government. Someone pays for your care, my guess is the US taxpayer pays for your coverage. It is not free.

Still NO NEW IDEAS or SOLUTIONS to fix our health care debacle from the republican'ts.

Posted by cydygitt1

I have a the solution, I discovered it years ago. I got an education, I developed a strong work ethic, I work my tail off running my business and guess what, I don't have a health care debacle. Maybe if you thought a little bit about self sufficiency you wouldn't either. Oh please osama...give it to me.

Just ONE more LIAR LIAR pants on fire moment. remember him railing against McCain on this exact issue. The commercials were up and running 10 seconds after McCains proposal. Just more proof the American Voter is a fool and easily duped by a slick talking clown.

What ever gave the idea that we as Americans are entitled to health coverage. These big insurance companies and employers have spoiled us rotten and now are pulling the rug out from under us. Now Americans are crying to the gov'mnt to pull us out and cover us. Do you realize that is socializem . The more power you give this gov'mnt the less you have to control your lives. Keep the gov'nmt out of this.

Don't believe all of the great things you hear about "socialized helth care" From first hand knowledge, that is being married to a German national, socialized health care does'nt work like most think. Example: My wife has health insurance through AOK. The German government does not pay for her entire health insurance premium. She pays approximately 320 dollars a month and the government pays the other 280 dollars. So it is'nt free. Those that do not have health insurance do not get free health care, they have to pay a large portion of it and then the government pays the remaining small amount. Either way your paying, so I would'nt hype it so much. I have used German doctors and hospitals which were paid for by my US Government Insurance Tricare. Much of the mediacal and dental equipment is outdated. The equipment that my dentist uses is dated back to the 80's. The hospital that I was in was pretty decent, but the care, facilities and the Doctors expeirience levels were lacking. Because I was an american I had good insurance that alloted for 140 dollars a day for room charges I managed to swing a semi private room. The germans were stcuk in rooms with between 4&5 other patients. If the kool aid drinkers get their way and Berry Soetoro gets socialized helth care to pass you will pay for it in more ways than one. 1. You will still be required to pay a health insurance premium, 2. Be sure and look forward to that Value Added tax that the genius wants to enact, the Germans have had a Value Added Tax for ages, how do you think they pay for "socialized health care"?

I have noticed a disitinct change in the postings hailing BHO. It seems that those that were praising him in the first few months for his campaign promises have somehow disappeared, the koolaid well must have run dry. This guy is going to make the sad ecomomy of the 70's and 80's look like an economic boon.
