Didn't mean to leave you hangin' Was tending to some other business.

How about we re-dedicate a Tennyson poem to them and call it 'The Charge of the Light in the Loafers Brigade'?

Why has no one commented on the fact that the US Army will write a waiver for a convicted felon to enter the armed forces but not for a gay man? This is a real tragedy. As a society, we would rather let a murderer into the armed forces than an admitted gay man. How screwed up is that?

Voluntary sodomy vs involuntary...It's just not right, not that there's anything wrong with that...

Look at the homosexual rape photos of the prisoners and then make a choice. The President saw the pictures so don't ask. The gays hiding in the military would have been targeted by terror groups all over oconus as soon as the left post to "hang out" . The acts of rape and sodomy those homosexuals in uniform commited brings shame to everyone.
Posted by oneof_many at 5:37 PM : Jun 2, 2009

First of all, those photos were NEVER released. Second, the information about the male being raped is that he was sodomized with obects like pipes. This wasn;t a sexual act but one of pure sadism. And the offender was not uniformed military. Third, what about the female that was raped? Doesn't that jeopardize the rest of the force? You know, the straight ones?

I believe that gays are part of the fabric of our society and should not be excluded in the military. I do not believe there are any accurate records (remember we are talking about the military) that states they are either a high risk or incapable of performing their duties. Am I correct, I don't know? We are including them in many aspects of our society why should they be excluded from serving OUR country? It does not make sense especially in light that we do not necessarity see recruits breaking down the doors to enlist in our forces. I am a heterosexual (proudly) male and I would not have any problem serving next to them. As a matter of fact, do they have any more disciplinary problems than their heterosexual counterparts? Do they have any less bravery traits? Are they awarded any less medals than heterosexuals? Don't confuse my position with that they should be allowed ALL benefits of the general populace, because I oppose 100% gay marriage. But as far as them being unpatriotic and undeserving to protect our country is ludicrous.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell dishonors the sacrifice that gays and lesbians have given in fighting for the freedom of all Americans in the United States.
Posted by caldwellptr at 5:07 PM : Jun 2, 2009

WRONG! Don't ask, don't tell keeps private matters private. Sacrifices supposedly made by homosexuals don't outweigh those made by anyone else!
Posted by armyoftwelve at 5:17 PM : Jun 2, 2009

Don't ask, don't tell means that if a person who is gay or lesbian in the military who dies in service to our Nation is less than other individuals in the military who may have made the same sacrfice.

He hasn't EARNED the right to publicly date someone of the same sex, and is forced to live in the shadows so as not to "offend" some religious fueled bigot, even though he might be a modern day Audie Murphy?

What if a gay soldier goes to a movie with a friend?

He hasn't EARNED the right to publicly date someone of the same sex, and is forced to live in the shadows so as not to "offend" some religious fueled bigot, even though he might be a modern day Audie Murphy?

I couldn't disagree more.
