I'm very much a proponent of civil rights, and i believe that "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is a blatant form of discrimination against gay and lesbian people. President Obama said he would get rid of it. He's been in office less than a year - I will not prejudge him and I realize that there ARE more important things for him to deal with at the moment - all things considered.

I believe that President Obama will abolish "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". I'm willling to wait until the end of his term for him to do it before I will judge him for it.

Dont ask dont tell is a sham anyway. I have been asked 6 times about sexual orientation both during the time I was in the military and after I have been out. The 4 times I was asked in the military was an attempt to get me to leave and the 2 times since was an attempt to deny me benefits. When I left the Army after soon after being asked about sexual orientation, I replied that yes, I had looked at gay porn before but I was not aroused by it. Heh. I got my honorable for other reason mainly because I was tired of the BS. Cadets you can say things that sound extremely gay but they can't kick you out if you say you aren't gay! Actually I am not gay but always say I am when asked on principle. Thank you.

Obama is becoming the same type of President as most. He makes promises to get elected and then tucks in his tail and hides. He is losing my support for one simple issue. How can a black person who says his people faced slavery and racism based solely on the color of their skin, but in the same breath says that gays and lesbians are quite human enough to deserve to get married. What a jerk he is becoming. I don't care what his or anyone else's religious beliefs are. Since when is okay to take away rights and use the Consitution to do this illegal manuever. Any constitution, state or Federal, it is against the constitutions to have laws or amendments that take away rights from a single group based on religion, sex, race, sexual orientation and etc. SO how can anyone say it is okay to have any legislation that bans same-sex marriage. What does anyone care if two loving consentual adults marry. What'sit to you. YOur heterosexual marriages are exactally above reproach. High divorce rate, kinky sex, pedophilia, child and spousal abuse, adultery...should I go on. Yeh, limit marriage only those of you that live in glass houses.

I have been supportive of current policy.

Well currently, so am I. I know a few gay people that are currently serving though. They aren't explicit about it as they can't be but one day I believe the policy will change.

I have it on pretty good authority this issue is NOT high on the priority list, especially with two ongoing operations.

One comment does not make you the focus. Are you trying to elevate your stature?
Here's a question. Do you think gays should be outright banned from serving in the military?

When I scan through all these pages there are a LOT of comments about me and not about my comments to this story. A lot of posters here seem to put a lot of weight to my opinions (given their responses to me ), don't know why unless I'm touching upon the truth.
If you had bothered to read my comments, you would have noticed that I have been supportive of current policy. A ban is wrong because in 4 years of Marine Corps service I saw THREE people get out by claiming to be gay and weren't (no joking here). One of them even got married in Oceanside, CA just 4 months after his discharge! FYI--I served when homosexuals were barred from service.

Uhhh... what does straight marriage have to do with sexual orientation of offspring? Other than the fact that it produces it?
