You owe me an apology, but of course I know that I will never get it.

How sickening & sad it is to see the commentary on this page where no one has said anything that honors veterans or the veterans who have fallen

Now see, I spend the day away from the discussions, and look what happens.

I'll re-post for the honor of all members of the armed services, past, present, and future:

Proud To Be An American
Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I?d worked for all my life,
And I had to start again
With just my children and my wife,
I?d thank my lucky stars
To be livin? here today.
? Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
And they can?t take that away.

And I?m proud to be an American,
Where at least I know I?m free.
And I won?t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me.
And I?d gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today,
? Cause there ain?t no doubt I love this land!
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I?m proud to be an American,
Where at least I know I?m free.
And I won?t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me.
And I?d gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today,
? Cause there ain?t no doubt I love this land!
God bless the USA.

And I?m proud to be an American,
Where at least I know I?m free.
And I won?t forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me.
And I?d gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today,
? Cause there ain?t no doubt I love this land!
God bless the USA.

Funny how he's the most anti-war anti-military president in US history and he has the gall to tell others to honor all veterans.

Posted by Seething_Soup at 4:23 PM : May 23, 2009

I always find it funny how people just kinda make things up. Obama is not anti-military. I've never heard of anything more ridiculous in my life. And as far as anti-war goes, just because he's not a warmonger doesn't mean he won't go to war if he has to.

On Memorial Day when I look down my block, not seeing a single other American flag flying proudly I wonder wether my country is still worthy of men like you.
Posted by earlysaid at 4:18 PM : May 23, 2009

That's because these days most of our neighbors were not born in the USA.

Our despicable president is amassing troops to go into Afghanistan after campaigning of troop withdrawals and an end to the wars. War is OK for liberals who praise Obama but, Bush was criticized for maintaining the same wars.

Posted by budmag06 at 4:17 PM : May 23, 2009

I could be wrong, but I don't recall Obama saying anything about Afghanistan. He said he would end the war in Iraq. And he said that he would do it by a certain time. I don't think that time has been reached yet.

"Honor Veterans"??? Obama??? Our despicable president is amassing troops to go into Afghanistan after campaigning of troop withdrawals and an end to the wars. War is OK for liberals who praise Obama but, Bush was criticized for maintaining the same wars. Did I read "draft"??? Charlie Rangel (DEMOCRAT), where's the reinstatement of the draft system you recently called for or, was that another political move that backfired???

Obama could honor vets better by expanding and improving the VA health care system. There needs to be a new VA hospital in SW Florida and in Guadalajara, Mexico area where at least 25,000 veterans live.

We need to replace the FDA. It is a failed agency which no longer
protects us. The FDA protects the food industry from inspection and
protects the pharmaceutical companies from regulation and oversight.
The FDA is the enemy of the public and will bankrupt our nation if the
government pays for drugs.

Drugs should cost no more here than in Mexico or Canada. Generic
medicine needs to be available for everyone. The FDA should not be in
a position to regulate herbs and vitamins. They should outlaw high
fructose corn syrup which causes diabetes, obesity and metabolic
syndrome and permit the use of stevia as a sweetener.

I honor veterans, but I do not and will not honor their bone headed commanders that send them into ambushes. This is what is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan every day. Soldiers are told to do meaningless patrols that make them sitting ducks for the opposition, while the commanders that gave the orders sit in safe positions. This must STOP!

I say if you see a service member go ahead and buy him a beer if they are old enough.

If they're a service member, then they're old enough.

That's another law that needs to be changed.

Thanks for proving my point whereas just because someone enters this site about honoring veterans doesn't mean they have done so when all that person has done is regurgitate a diatribe of continued folly. In summation, protecting and defending the Constitution of the USA also means having a duty to know what it says and means. To all veterans, once again I say thank you. Goodbye.

First of all I doubt you have posted anything on this site to honor veterans as your commentary to me did nothing to honor veterans & is quite telling that you never served let alone honorably. Second, to ask the Constitution be upheld is not "stooping to the exact low you accuse everybody else of" when I specifically said "on this page". When the Constitution is violated by a usurper of the Presidency it is my duty to say so regardless of a sycophantic press.

As I said your comment started out excellent, then you go off on a tangent about the POTUS not being a US citizen, which has nothing to do with Veterans Day. This is exactly what you were complaining about initially, comments not related to the story.
BTW, I did serve in the military for 22 years, HONORABLY.

How sickening & sad it is to see the commentary on this page where no one has said anything that honors veterans or the veterans who have fallen to have gone on before us.

Actually, I believe whether anyone has said anything or not, everyone that has entered this site, honors the veterans. Or they wouldn't have bothered coming here.

Headline should read: Americans Urge Obama's Government to Honor Veterans. How dare you, mr obama, say we Americans have failed. It is you and the government that continues to treat veterans like crap. You are proving all the reasons I didn't vote for you.

How sickening & sad it is to see the commentary on this page where no one has said anything that honors veterans or the veterans who have fallen to have gone on before us. As a disabled veteran it breaks my heart that I fought for the right of Americans to spew such folly instead of taking the time to honor those veterans who have served or died so honorably. Have you no honor or shame? It is impossible to personally thank the dead veteran but I can remember their honorable & noble sacrifice with honor and remember the families who carry the burden of loved ones lost. Thank you to the veterans who served with honor. Thank you to those military members who are serving now as you become veterans when you are no longer in the military. Why America votes or allows a person to become Commander-in-Chief (President) without ever having been in command within the military is beyond me. It is too bad we do not have a Constitutional Amendment that states all Presidents MUST have been in the military at some time in their life before they can be POTUS (President of the United States). Therefore, my final dig is "Where's your Birth Certificate Barry Soetoro (B.S. aka Barack Hussein Obama)?"
