- Just because I want the bloodsucking parasite out of my uterus, doesn't mean I want it dead. You can implant it in your sister for all I care. It just can't stay inside of MY body.

Then, "WHY" did you allow it to get started. Its your body, BTW, so is the 'bloodsucking parasite' - Reply to this comment
- Do you know what a natural growth curve is? We've been following it since 10,000 BC, and our population went from 1 billion in 1850 to 7 billion in 2009.
You don't even have to be ABLE to do math to see that's a problem. We do NOT have a shortage of humans.

And you thought that War was 'only' for the rich to get richer. Since man will not restrain himself, War pestilance and famine are our best form of population control. - Reply to this comment
- I would wager that most of these people are not "pro life." People are duplicitous when they oppose terminating a formation of cells inside a woman's uterus but favor the death penalty.
Posted by CBSTV at 6:28 PM : May 16, 2009
That is rediculous. We are completely consistent. We value innocent human life. This is why we oppose abortion but support the execution of deranged individuals who would murder innocent lives (dont forget, the death penalty is currenlty used only for especially haneous crimes). This is the same reason why many conservatives can support waterboarding a terrorist who wishes to massacre people.
The real question is how people like you can oppose killing murderers and waterboarding terrorists. But have no problem sucking the brains out of an innocent fetus. - Reply to this comment

Those are two totally different arguements. Putting someone to death for a crime the commited and killing and innocent child are two totally different things.
What you people don't understand is that its pro life people's beleif that a person is a person at conception. Now you may disagree and call them just cells but that is a difference in beleif.

- We should have 25 billion on the earth by 2075 if we keep the pace the same as it is.
There won't be room to grow our food.

Chances are that by that time most of our food willl be grown in a factory.

- It is not the fetus that anti-abortion activists are protecting. They are protecting the idea that God not the individual decides what is moral. But there are those that have their own moral compass and believe they have a right to their own private lives. The battle of Notre Dame is between the individual and the collective. It will be won by free thinkers not by those that want to chain the mind.

- Too bad the so-called pro-lifers aren't as concerned about those already born, since they have no problem spending billions killing men, women and children in wars. They also seem to have no problem letting those already born go hungry, without shelter, and with no medical care claiming it costs too much. And all this in the name of Christianity...what's wrong with this picture?

Nonsensical....who said that all pro-lifers want to waste billions on wars or want to let people go hungry??? With that said, why does the other side want to kill all those babies........ - Reply to this comment
- Why does this same question arise over and over? A woman should be able to have control of her own body. A woman should be able to decide whether she wants to become pregnant or not. She should also be able to use contraceptives, married or not, and if not, to end the pregnancy. It's Her body and she should have TOTAL control of it.
Posted by dennisgreen5 at 3:18 PM : May 16, 2009
Agreed. Let's just do a gene check on the fetus. If the genetic makeup matches hers then it IS part of her body & no argument. If the genetic makeup doesn't match hers then it is NOT part of her body (unless you want to classify a fetus as a cancer). Then the question becomes "can you (we the people) force somebody to be/remain pregnant if they don't want too?" That's the whole question here. The fetus is almost irrelevant. It is the fact of pregnancy and it's consequences that are at the core of the debate. Either we (we the people) can force somebody to be pregnant or we cannot. Personally, as a male, I have always thought that it would be the height of arrogance for me to presume to know what someone else should do about something that I cannot have any emotional or personal knowledge of. But then there are a lot of people out there that want to tell somebody else how they must live their life to please the ones doing the telling. And frankly, it seems that most, if not all, of the posters on this issue are trying (sometimes with incredible vitrol) to tell the other side how they must live. Legal abortion is a fact of life, get over it. Some couples have 7, 8, 10 or more children. Get over it. They can't tell you that you cannot abort and the other side cannot tell you to stop at 2 children. And if you REALLY want to discuss the moral implications of abortion then discuss it with your minister, priest, rabbi, or shrink. Sitting here & screaming back & forth at each other sounds like kids at the end ofl their argument. "DOES TOO" "DOES NOT" - Reply to this comment

- President Obama's pro-choice political maneuvering is no different from any other Democrat in the White House. Most who call themselves pro-choice perceive us pro-lifers as anti-women's rights and with some justification as I don't think some prolifers think their position through fully. President Obama said he wants to get the number of abortions down, and he's serious about the social changes that could actually bring that about. I don't think it's wise for pro-lifers to alienate a pro-choicer who wants to respect the pro-life position.
