The problem is not that Obama is invited to speak. It is rather the granting of an Honorary Degree that is a problem. Such an act, it seem to me, is to endorse his actions and positions on abortion. This does not seem appropriate for a Catholic institution.

This is exactly part of the problem. Who are we to judge anyone about anything. We are not God. Period. So many people want to condemn people. Sad

I understand why there is controversy, but why are they zeroing in only on the issue of Obama's pro-choice stand? There are other issues in which he sides more with the Catholics than with other liberals -- such as same-sex marriage. Even most Catholics don't agree 100% with every single one of the Church's views, for example on birth control.

California Representative Kevin McCarthy, the chief recruiter for House Republicans, is trying to recruit a broad array candidates -- even some pro-choice candidates -- to win them seats in the mid-term elections. He said he wants his party to select candidates based less on ideology and more on their chances of winning. The goal, he said, is to seek out prospects who are ethnically diverse, female, less partisan and even supportive of abortion rights.

I resent the fact that you label me rascist simply because I do not agree with this amature president as he learns the job. You might more easily label me as anti-youth, or pro-experience. I shudder to think if this guy and his ignorance is representative of Americas honest black population. Sadly, he is going to set them back so far it will be decades before another black man can be elected.

LOL! Repukelickkers STILL don't get it. America is a huge ship, and it's sailing away without them.

Seems to me you have mistaken sinking like a rock for sailing away.
