To all you neocons, Pres. Obama is trying to fix it your way, because he knows you would all scream bloody murder if he did what really needs doing.

To subsidize costs that are determined by a commercial monopolistic cartel is the neocon way. give money to those who don't need it.

If I were president, I would subsidize med school for all willing and qualified students, in exchange for a 4 year bond to work at a reasonable salary in public health facilities, with break even prices publicly posted, forcing the private firms to cap costs and imnprove service in order to compete, or go out of business.

After 4 years the staff would have plenty of experience to enter the private firms, and is a win-win deal.

But we know you neos cannot stand win-win deals, for you, someone must lose for you to feel as if you have gained.

So be glad he is trying it your way, I would have told you "don't let the doorknob hit you where the Lord split you..."

JESUS CHRIST ! ! ! ! ! ! That's entirely to close to half of my check !

Couples making 250K a year, that's some BS why couldn't they have made that limit at or around 500K I think I'll ask for a pay cut just so I can avoid paying 40 percent taxes

Am I wrong or is this guy quickly becoming the most discredited president in history? Geez it took how many years for Dubya to lose the people's confidence - this guy's losing it in a matter of weeks.

Mark my words, by this summer two things will be obvious to us, first that we are in a Depression that will make the 1930's look like prosperity by comparison and second that we elected a president who doesn't have a clue what he's doing.

You don't know how much it hurts to say this, but at this point in time Hillary Clinton isn't looking too bad after all.

The Republicans who blindly followed Bush got bounced out in the elections of 2006 and 2008 - Senator Santorum of Pennsylvania is an example.

The Democrats who blindly follow Obama will get bounced out in the election of 2010.

Maybe by 2012 the real leader will step forward, and hopefully he won't be from either party.

To chgbubinot

Why $19 billion for electronic health records? I'll give you two reasons:

1. The tech company that will get this contract has already made the deal and has bankrolled the Democratic party to finalize the arrangement.

2. So that the government will be able to access your records and break into the doctor/patient relationship so as to gain more control over the people.

I think it was Grover Cleveland who said 'It's not up to the government to take care of the people, it's up to the people to take care of the government.'

Yep, sorry to burst another one of your pathetic little bubbles...but you just keep throwing them out there like you have a clue...when you obviously don't.

I already said - if you are part owner in an insurance company, then you are applying insider standards to the general populus. Not logical.

Will someone please tell this flub-a-dub in office that each dollar he spends has to come from somewhere?

Sure you can, although it's not cheap...and if you form your own group they will certainly take you, especially if you are part owner of an insurance agency, lol It does help.

Well, then you are applying non-real-world standards to the real world. In short, you lack the actual perspective of people who cannot get affordable health insurance.

And please don't try to tell me that the average American could afford $2,200/month to ensure three people. I can, you can, and my friend can. Not the average-wage earner, though.

$635 billion and that's only a DOWN PAYMENT - after a $1 trillion stimulus (pork) bill and $2 trillion bank bailout - where did we get this guy?

Then perhaps you should consider preaching things you are capable of practicing.

Nope, actually I take very good care of myself and have very few medical problems other than a cold or flu bug.

Nope, actually you smoke, and that's about the biggest medical problem a person could have other than actually having cancer.

This is my first big disagreement with Obama policy. I think fixing the system should come BEFORE appropriating massive amounts of money. The system is currently set up to fleece individuals, insurance companies and the government and in return everyone gets mediocre to nonexistent medical care. In fact some programs are a total farce (ie most mental health programs and many medical research shams).
Throwing money at the problem will only insure there are new ways devised to bilk the system. Require reasonable costs for quality care or get rid of the dead weight. Simple.

Where is the heck is this money going to come from. 780 Billion Stimuloan, TARP!, 410 Billion spending package, 50 Billion plus bank bailout, and now 634 Billion for this. I hope people like playing monopoly because that is what we are paying with MONOPOLY MONEY?

When will the spending end? This guy is going to bankrupt us all. He has already outspent the first year of Bush, he says to "save" the economy. Now he wants tooutspend the next two years of Bush. He keeps going and going and going. Trust me, the rich arent goign to pay this, they will just raise the prices you and I pay. We will pay for this spending spree.

Good health doesn't depend on a doctor's care...good health depends on diet exercise and taking care of yourself...and I suspect you do that anyway.

As of Christmas, you were still smoking. You do not seem to be practicing what you are preaching.

Rowdy, at your age, you cannot GET insurance if you have preconditions.

Not trying to be wise - just stating a fact. Underwriters only want people who are healthy and young. That's the real problem.
