President Obama's Feb. 24 Speech To A Joint Session Of Congress
- What else, or what more, a citizen would expect from a Usa President speech to the Congress? to overcome a moment like this? Wouldn't the President try first of all to give confiance and assure everyone the nation will recover? Moreover, President Obama speech contains clear indications on what to do, lines and strategies to be followed. Only those who do not want to hear, can't hear. Perhaps they would prefere to hear from the President: the situation is black that more black is impossible, that do exist no way to get out of the current difficulties, that the nation, at this point, is on the edge of her bankruptcy. Why, those who disagree with the President Obama, do not try to indicate, according their points of view, what the natgion ought to do? Personally I do believe that it's reallly incredible what is happening in these days in the Usa. Now I am convinced that we'll be able to tell our sons what has happened, for ythe simple reason that the nation will recover, and our sons will be able to tell their sons what has happened.

- ' And I believe the nation that invented the automobile cannot walk away from it.'
Thank's for backing up Germany in these hard times. Or was the President just wrong about the historical facts?? - Reply to this comment

- Obama keeps repeating the same misleading statement, "we will double this nation's supply of renewable energy in the next three years". America is already doubling renewable energy every four years. This "grand goal" for renewable energy is at best a slight improvement over what we're already doing, mostly by wind power.
But wind power has its limits as it is intermittent. Consider Denmark, the country with the highest percentage of wind power, which can generate about 20% of their electricity, but wind actually delivers only 6% of their domestic needs as the generation fluctuates so rapidly that they have to run their coal plants anyway. They export wind generated electricity during peak wind production, mostly to Norway and Sweden, simply because they can't start and stop their coal plants fast enough (Norway and Sweden can start and stop their hydro power). In one year, Denmark's wind farms generated no useful power on 54 (non-consectutive) days.
Obama needs to get real here, wind and solar have their place and need to be encouraged, but they can't replace coal and nuclear. If the country needs to grow the economy without polluting the atmosphere, nuclear is the only realistic option. - Reply to this comment
- doubt obama writes his own speeches, he has a staff of speech writers. obama does have good delivery of flowery speeches. but it's results that american citizens must focus on, not rhetoric. performance results should be the focus. obama, hillary are about to donate 900 million of U.S. taxpayer monies to the Gaza, to palestinians, to hamas and et al who danced in their streets when bin laden successfully destroyed the WTC in NY. donating taxpayer monies to appease our enemies is wrong. the 900 million should be spent here in America and not on the Gaza. performance results, focus. obama, hillary are providing aid and comfort to the nation's enemies by donating 900 million to the Gaza. for this, obama should be impeached. obama is betraying our military, all American citizens, by giving the Gaza 900 million of taxpayer monies. appeasing our enemies is a sign of weakness, a form of surrender, a form of cowardice, and perhaps the sign of a traitor.

- I feel our new President is well spoken, writes great speeches, and I truly hope he can fulfill a lot of his promises he made to our nation and our people as a whole. I just feel that President Obama has a lot of digging yet to do just to get to the surface of current problems, issues and concerns; especially after the other administrations left us in such poor shape. I was apprehensive and a bit cynical about our current affairs, but I do have faith and hope in us as a United States.

- The time has come for the United States Congress to realize that you can not do things the same as was done 8 years ago. The Republicans Party must realize that the rich are not the sole beneficiary of the American dream. We are all part of the promise and we must all work together to fulfill the dream. The Republicans had their opportunity and look where it got us. The worst mess since the depression. Now the American people have spoken and President Obama has layed out the framework to turn this country around, now is the time to support the vision and regain our standing in the world. Thank you President Obama for thinking about everyone and not just a select few. You will have a successful presidency no matter what others may say. I thank God for placing this calling on your life because you can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens you.

- Thank God we have a President who can communicate to and inspire the American people. Someone who's personal story calls us back to the sober energy and hard work of our immigrant ancestors (for me the call goes back to the 1690's).
He is the right leader for this time.
I am inspired to try harder at work and home, with co-workers and family. Let's drop the cynicism and get to work.
God Bless You and God Bless America! - Reply to this comment
- Obama said "checks are on the way." This is the first that anyone has heard of this. How are the amounts determined and who determines who they go to?
