We here in mid-central Illinois and just 25 miles from Centralia, where Roland Burris was born say...No Burris for our U.S. Senator. All you need to do is google up all the websites of the local newspapers to see the comments from citizens of Illinois and see their anger at Burris. Burris is a lobbyist for the casion industry (Go Rd Blago just approved a few months ago, two new casino''s for the Chicago area) he is also a lobbyist for a private investment firm. What kind of private investment firm and who do they serve? Playing the race card in Illinois is old hat. We have Bobby Rush as a Rep and many other from Chicago and the Metro East in our General Assembly. Chicago has many black men and women on the city council and in various high paying jobs in the State and local governments. Stop with the race play roll. We all probably think that Burris has already done some pay for play with probably the casino business. He also gave $14,000.00 to Gov. Rod Blagojevich campaign fund. So he ran against Rod for Gov..so what. he was probably paid to do so. Who''s footing the bill for his lawyers, the plane etc. Check out Roland Burris monument on google. This guy has an ego as big or bigger that Rod B. No Burris, if he is seated some of us citizens should get together and impeach him. Thank you Jessie White for not signing for this joker. Burris is an evangelistic nut. I don''t care if he''s a democrat. Normally I lean heavily democratic but we don''t need this born again evangelist in our government.

Burris should sue the Senate. This is ridiculous. The Gov of Illinois may be under investigation and may turn out to be a crook, but, he is the legally elected governor and no one has stripped him of any of his legal authority. It is his legal right to appoint a successor to Obama and Reid saying Burris'' "credentials are not in order" is absurd in the extreme. The legally elected,still fully empowered governor appointed him, case closed. Senator Reid is grossly overreaching here and at the core, challenging states'' rights. He should be held accountable for it. If this new administration is really about accountability, if the Democrats are really going to create a new kind era of government, they need to start now and to obey the law.

They could say whatever they want but I know better. Having the qualification of highly qualified is not up to the teacher. It is up to the requirements set by Congress in that act.

We have the press and other groups that will be attacking any state in which Principals fire teachers for sending students to the office causing a "chronic shortage of teachers" and causing that the "teachers" are 80 to 90% interns. I did better than that already. The definition of "highly qualified teacher" that I posted came from the Texas Education Agency.

Section 9101(23) HIGHLY QUALIFIED.-The term ''highly qualified''-

(A) when used with respect to any public elementary school or secondary school teacher teaching in a State, means that-

(i) the teacher has obtained full State certification as a teacher (including certification obtained through alternative routes to certification)"

SEE!~ "The teacher has obtained full State certification". To be considered a "Highly Qualified Teacher" you MUST be "Fully Certified". It is not what a teacher says. It is what the NCLB Act says.

Well, seeing that a local backwoods hooligan such as yourself could never know anyone in the Kennedy family personally, I find it quite odd that you would seek to contradict many in the Kennedy clan, particularly Ted and Caroline Kennedy who have proclaimed on several occassions that Obama reminded them of their late brother and father, John F. Kennedy.
