Democrat Takes Slim Victory In Senate Recount But Rival Norm Coleman Vows Legal Challenge
- More importantly, how close are we now to having a filibuster-proof Senate?

Doesn''t this give the Democrats a 59 vote majority? That would leave them just ONE vote shy of the needed number and with the few Republican''s remaining in the Northeast, I doubt that one vote would be that hard to get. The Republican Party is in VERY bad shape in the Northeast, Northwest... in fact they are in DEEP trouble in MOST of the nation outside the Fascist South. Even there they are having trouble... - I left out a word in my post. Too bad the recount was not allowed in 2000. Sorry.

- Get over it Coleman!!!! Whine, whine, whine! Too bad the count was allowed in 2000, we would not be in the fix this country is in right now if Gore had been allowed to be the real president! Franken is a real breath of fresh air!

How sure are you that Christine Gregoire did not steal the 2004 Washington Governor race or Richard Daley did not deliver an undeserved win to JFK in 1960? - Reply to this comment
- "After 62 days of careful and painstaking hand-inspection of nearly 3 million ballots, after hours and hours of hard work by election officials and volunteers around the state, I am proud to stand before you as the next senator from Minnesota," Franken said Monday in brief remarks to reporters outside his downtown condominium.

"After years of practice in fixing elections, and 62 days of careful and painstaking hand selection of which of the nearly 3 million ballots to look at, after hours and hours of hard work by the DNC and their appointed election officials and volunteers rounded up by Democrats around the state to throw out Republican and military absentee ballots, I am proud to stand before you as the newly appointed from New York, er, Minnesota" Franken said Monday in an embarrassed mumble to reporters outside his downtown condominium, still filled with boxes from his recent move. - Reply to this comment

- A lot Politicians and NFL coaches seem to have a lot in common. After they screw up everything up where they%u2019re at, they get recycled and take over a different position somewhere else, only to screw that up and get recycled again. Hopefully Mr. Franken doesn%u2019t run Minnesota into bankruptcy like he did Air America.

- cattieJ,
How do you propose Franken would get rid of illegal immigrants? Would he tax them out of the country? Make them buy carbon credits? Or would he do what Democrats have done for years, sign them up as Democrat voters and then say "what illegal immigrants?" - Reply to this comment

- You go Al. We are so glad you are the winner. Coleman, it is now time for you to go home and find something else to do. This is Mr. Al Franken turn to try and turn our country around after 8 years of Republican rule that has our country is such a mess that it will take centurys to get back to what a great power we used to be. George Bush, Richard Cheney and the rest of the gas house gang should be tried for treason against the United States. We hope Al votes to bring our troops home and signs on to stop the illegal aliens from coming into our country.

- I am glad you have finally given up on Mrs Franken''''s teeth. Pointing out physical differences is immature if it comes from the left or the right.

- I am so glad that the winner is Al Franken. Franken cared so much about the country that he ran for this office. Thank goodness we will have more Democrats in the senate. It is amazingly great. Our country has hope for a better future.
