Urging Speed To Heal "Sick" Economy, President-Elect Proposes $500 Tax Cuts For Most Workers, $100B For Businesses
- So what does TARIFFS have to with this anyway? Who is off topic?

- The US workers are getting hosed by the unions in America who have run the cost to companies up so much they have to go over seas to survive.
Kill the unions and you save the country. - Reply to this comment

- Without TARIFFS, it''''s a "no brainer" to move jobs and businesses OUT OF THE USA.
We need TARIFFS to make it a "no brainer" to move jobs TO THE USA.

Tariffs discriminate against countries that operate the way the US does. You still want a true free market to operate. We need to focus on countries that are running sweatshop economies. - Reply to this comment
- Obama is talking 600,000 more federal jobs. The agriculture dept has a $40billion budget and 100,000 people. Seems like a lot to me but I don''t work for them. I''m sure there is plenty of waste there. Now an additional 600,000 workers that you know will be unionized and will never be laid off. Another entitlement we will be paying for for many years. And how far will $500 go when there talking about $175 per cow for methane tax and raising gas prices 10cents per gallon. The states will be raising taxes on everything so in the end the $500 will be used to pay the increased taxes planned by the Dems. Never cut a budget when you can add more entitlements to it. Granted they can''t cut spending now until the economy is back but they''ll never look at waste in govt unless a group of fiscal conservatives (not those of the Bush years) get control of the govt.

- US businesses are at a big disadvantage to foreing businesses at almost every turn and most of it is caused by goverment mandated laws and rules that cost money which most foreign businesses don''t have to pay.
EPA
OSHA
Workers Comp
Corp Tax
Health Ins
Vacation Pay
Holiday Pay
Subsidies that foreign companies are receiving
These cost should be factored into everything that is imported into the USA, the American worker is getting hosed by businesses running to these sweatshop countries.. - Reply to this comment
- Obama has always come across to me as the antithesis of patriarchal. As a male, I cannot take him seriously, his behavior is very feminine and in a group of men I am sure he would be the weak one to be pounced on. Obama emits a sort of weakling, mothers boy kind of vibe. I cannot quite articulate what it is, but I do not accept him as a man.
His politics contribute to this as well, he has more in common with Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda than any male politican. Obama serves as an important pawn for radical feminists and authoritarian collectivists, he is a non-white minority male who embraces modern socialist matriarchal views. In today''s broken society this gives him instant celebrity and untouchable political immunity.
To be perfectly honest, I would not be surprised to find out that he is homosexual. He just comes across as a female.
As Ted Nugent might say: "This guys a ***!" - Reply to this comment
- How so with Obama but not Bush? It''''s just in line with whatever Bush was doing, although a smaller number. I''''d say they both are in the same direction.

Bush gave up his "true?" conservative values when he lept on the Bailout and stimulus band wagon. It seems like he started it. The democrats and McCain jumped on the wagon as well.
With these leaders the loss of many freedoms is not far away. - Reply to this comment
- If this criminal liability for all this bad paper exists and the estimates are that there is a trillion dollars or more worth of bad paper floating around? Why was only 700 billion in tarp funds required and why wasn''t the tarp funds spent to buy this bad paper? Simply because you are living in a fantasy world where no one except you ever travels. Most of the funds (except the few billion for the automakers and actually from what I heard the automakers that qualified became bank holding companies (banks) so it all went to the banks) went only to recapitalize the banks as preferred stock purchases with NO REQUIREMENTS AS TO HOW IT WAS USED. SO none of this bogus paper for which BUsh or anyone else is criminally prosecutable for has been protected as far as value in any way.

- To get back on topic- any bipartisanship Obama wanted is dead because Pelosi has declared war on the Republicans by not allowing them to present bills or amendments or to have any voice in legislation. pelosi had poisoned any possible bipartisanship. She and Reid protects Frank, Rangel and Dodd who are all under ethics clouds and they keep their chairmanships. The squeaky clean Congress never existed and Pelosi doesn''t care. It is only power she wants and she will be pushing Obama around.

- The government wants to waste more tax payer money like the bailout of Wall Street and Banks, so it get pushed as another emergency, get it done right now, we can''t wait. Best thing the goverment can do is stay out of meddling in the private sector.

Yep - Bush giving away $700 billion pretty much ensured that. And Obama''''s $100 billion isn''''t any better.
Although it is 7x less damaging than what Bush did, it''''s still inexcusable.

I did not like any of bailouts given. All are socialist in nature. Bush showed his true colors in the bailout and stimulus packages.
Obama is on his way to making even a bigger leap toward Marxism. - Reply to this comment

Read again you are as dense as Congressman Mica who Greenspan resoundinglyy told NO when he claimed the same thing that paper scam of your is bogus and we discussed it. A veto in the UN Security Council by the US and the US alone would block any chosen action of the World Court. Whether You and Bush are smart enough to employ it is questionable; you argue Bush doesn''t understand how the UN works -- Fine Bush incompetent, I concede to your fantasy -- thats fine but it still does not make your argument worth the cost of the bandwidth you utilize to post it. - Reply to this comment
- Nice, TexHillGirl, in 10 minutes, rockets could have been launched and well on their way. And where was he? He didn''t know who was attacking us. We don''t need that kind of leadership, if you call it that.

- Bernacke, Greenspan, Cox and others have all downgraded this fantasy about the CRA being the main cause of the meltdown it was Businessmen (Bankers lining their own pockets) by making irresponsible loans no law required. corresponding garbage investment paper they generated from their bogus loan practices. Greenspan said it best -- he was surprised when BUSINESS DID NOT ACT IN IT"S OWN BEST INTEREST"

- FLSunJKY- Nothing like scaring the he!! out of the schoolchildren by jumping up and running out of school. Protocol is to get more information. If you recall the whole country didn''t know what was going on. He did exactly what he was supposed to do. You guys keep bringing this up. You''re man Gore or Kerry would have sat there for a few hours trying to figure out what to do. Or maybe calling a committee meeting.
