I am not sure there is just one answer for that question. I suspect some work more than 40 hrs a week and some less. That does not mean that it would be nice if US Senator was not her first full time job. I suspect that if her name were Caroline Smith or Jones and not from a wealthy politically connected family that she would be expected to work her way up. I thought all my friends on the left were for bashing the rich?? Or is it just the rich who do not agree with you?

I could care less what her family did.... but as the saying goes, the apple does not fall far from the tree. Maybe she is different. I have been looking around a bit online for her resume. Can someone tell me the last time she had a full time job... or if she ever has?

Caroline should give it a shot for two years. If she doesn''t like it or isn''t good at it, she doesn''t have to run for re-election. She is not the kind of snarling pit bull that Andrew Cuomo would be. But is that what NY really wants?? She is more likely to have a leadership style similar to her Uncle Ted. And Ted wasn''t particularly qualified to be a senator when he was appointed, but he did just fine. If nothing else, Caroline will make the Senate more interesting.

The Kennedy family has been referred to as "the royal family" of America. I find this disturbing.

I''m blessed if I see an upside to naming Caroline Kennedy senator. She''s a Kennedy, big whoop: Some are better than others; Teddy was never as good as Bobby.

The people of New York need more than a celebrity poster girl. The fact that Obama has backed her only tells us he''s more into celebrity than substance. If Caroline decides politics is truly her calling, let her get out there and campaign for the job during an eleciton, not have it handed to her over some romantic 40 year old notion.
