Comments on: Obama Kids To Attend Private D.C. School
Obamas Choose Sidwell Friends For Sasha And Malia; Same School That Joe Biden's Grandkids Attend
- I''m continually amazed with how small minds can continue to get smaller. Why on earth wouls anyone think that the Obama children can be safe in the public schools anywhere. The most high profile children in the US can''t possibly get the kind of security needed for their safety and wellbeing. Hooray, for the Obama''s for putting their children above the politics of simple minded mean-spirited people.

- The greatest issue is the girls'' security; Sidwell-Friends, in addition to be excellent, can provide that safety. Also, they''''ve (S-F) been down this road before with Chelsea Clinton. People can argue that they should be attending a public school, but let''s face it; their dad has just been elected the leader of the free world, and their security needs are different.

I agree, it''s all about "Security" for Pres.-elect Obama''s kids first. - Reply to this comment
- Here is what your savior has in store for our health care system while his kids attend the private schools.

Quote from the story: "He said the four cancer drugs provide a ``marginal benefit at quite often an extreme cost'''' and that the agency had to keep in mind that funds spent on the medicines could be used elsewhere to help others at a greater value. ``Those are the hidden patients, the ones who benefit from the things the NHS does spend money on,'''' Littlejohns said. well it''s nice to see that the government gets to determine who is worthy of living. - Reply to this comment
- The sad fact is those who lead never have children in the public schools that have been wrecked by federal rules without funding, courts demanding huge amounts of resources for bilingual education and children subjected to experimental "teaching techniques" . If their children, any of them, had to go through the treachery of of the schools the children the average taxpayer has to send their children to, you can be there would be a change made in the blink of an eye.

- Another question: Why, when the girls are in private school in Chicago, would you not expect that they be put in a private school in Washington, DC?
They will be safer and get an excellent education. What parent on earth does not want that for their child/children.
I do feel sure that President Obama will do what he can for all public educators, but as a parent, he still can exercise his right to choose where his children will go to school. - Reply to this comment

Hi "DOWNSTREAMJIM",
The Obama-Biden leadership team has marching orders from 65,000,000 U.S. voting electorates, special interest groups, all 50 states, and foreign countries. And your point is . . . ? - Reply to this comment
- My son is now 33. As a single parent, I sturggled to pay for a parochial school education. I too, was educated in parochial schools. People who believe in private/parochial schools are willing to pay the tuition and not to believe in vouchers. Give it up, it will never happen. (I also had to pay for public school bus service every year.) If you believe that your child will get a better and or more religious education, then send them where you want. Do not expect to be reimbursed, but do it for the good of your children.
I am glad I did. I only hope that he and wife extend that to their young children. Private/Parochial schools are better than the public schools here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
If I had it all to do again, I would still send my son to parochial school.
Many public schools need more parential support. That is a sure thing in private/parochial schools...You pay tuition and donate so many hours of school support. It is truly a family effort.
Good luck to the Obama''s and their children. May they be safe and guarded. Good for them! - Reply to this comment
- I''m glad the Obama''s have settled on private schooling for the girls. Quality education was just one factor to be considered - Security was a major consideration. I want the girs safe so that the President''s attention can be focused on the task of leading this country.
As for public education. I''m not sure where some of you are from but I can tell you ANYTHING Obama can do to do away with the current program in Texas (TAKS) will be greatly appreciated. The program was implemented when George W. was Governor (as if he knows a thing about education) and has been nothing but a very bad jobke. Our kids are not prepared for college because at the college level they are required to take test that consist of more than multiple choice questions. Even the college professors acknowledge that they are having to downgrade their expectations. We need schools that teach higher level thinking skills - not just rote memory facts that can be googled in seconds flat. - Reply to this comment

He made the right decision and that is to take care of his children. It is a shame he denies this to parents of poor children.

Hi "DOWNSTREAMJIM";
Can you back up your bag of lies?
You can start with the one above about denying "parents of poor children". Last checked, the Obama-Biden team has not sworn in as the new POTUS. So please show us what Presidential Order the FUTURE Obama-Biden team has already executed that "denies parents of poor children". - Reply to this comment

Hi DOWNSTREAMJIM,
To use a famous quote - "If I have to explain it, then you still wouldn''t understand". - Reply to this comment

- Miriam: Using your logic, the only good bet would be to home school them in ''an undisclosed safe location.''
Please note: If I were Obama I would do the same thing. I just wish he would acutally do something to make inner city schools a safe place for learning. - Reply to this comment
- The entire WORLD knows who these girls are. That presents a very unique and DANGEROUS situation for them. The Obamas weren''t making some sort of a political statement; they made a choice based on the needs of their very high-profile children. Every psycho in the world knows these two little ones, and I''m sure they know them VERY well. Gives me the shivers to even think about it.

- Sidwell-Friends will be able to handle the security very well because they''ve already had a president''s child there. Also, with Joe Biden''s grandkids in the same school, it will be less of a headache for the secret service.

- Thank Heavens! Common sense prevailed. It would be absolutely stupid to send high value targets to public schools. We live in a very dangerous world. These children would be targets from day one and security would be an absolute nightmare. Also, anyone who can afford to put their kids in private schools does so--and a lot of us who really can not afford to do so.
I agree with very few of the positions held by the Obama''s, but, our (royal our) children are our most precious asset and they absolutely made the right decision. - Reply to this comment
