- n Maybe that is why we didn''''t. Maybe we are tired of "cutting of balls." Maybe we are tired of the hatefulness and filthy rhetoric of the last few years. Maybe we are ready to reach out a hand, even to folks we disagree with. Maybe we are ready to accept that people in a political party can have thoughts or opinions apart from that party and still be a loyal American. I disagree totally with Joe on the war and a lot of the stuff he did, but I can put it behind me. He lost.

Thank you for an intelligent and thoughtful post. We need to reunite this country soon. the hate and predjudice has gone too far. as Obama says: "this is the United States of America". Unfortunately the far right and the far left prefer to be far out and fight until there is no America to fight for. I agree, but as independent that is currently "caucusing with the Democrats" (that''s me, not Joe :o) ) I am not really concerned with party loyalty. I had enough of that when I was a Republican and if you criticized anything Republican you were called a traitor, case in point, my pro-choice position. Maybe Joe felt in his heart of hearts that John McCain was best for this country. I have no way of knowing. I don''t think he trusted Obama on Israel. I know he ran in his state as an independent. It is tough to be an independent. Palin was a disaster, I agree, and I am REALLY angry at McCain for putting our country at that risk. Politics is nasty business and his state may throw him out anyway next election, so all may be well yet. - Reply to this comment

- CBS: Anger toward Lieberman seems to have softened since Election Day, and Democrats didn''t want to drive him from the Democratic caucus by taking away his chairmanship, and as a result send the wrong signals as Mr. Obama takes office on a pledge to unite the country. Lieberman had indicated it would be unacceptable for him to lose his chairmanship.
