I hope that Obama is more successful than FDR. Under the leadership of FDR, the depression/recession lasted longer than any depression/recession in US history. Only WWII ended it and that is way too drastic.

Our nation is in a serious financial crisis. Energy Independence needs to be included in the realm of our serious economic issues. Our dependence on foreign oil impacts every aspect of our society and economy We have so much available in the way of FREE energy, solar and wind that can be utilized to replace oil. Hybrid and electric plug in cars would replace another huge percentage of our dependence on foreign oil. We spent 168 BILLION on a stimulus pkg that did nothing for our economy. Now there is talk of another stimulus pkg. Why not invest in initiating alternative energy sources and making hybrid and plug in car technology affordable for the average Joe. It cost the equivalent of 60 cents a gal of gas to drive an elec car. Investing in renewable sources of energy would create millions of badly needed jobs. It is a win-win situation. We have the knowledge and the technology, what we seem to lack as a nation is a PLAN. Jeff Wilson has a great new book out called The Manhattan Project of 2009 Energy Independence NOW. He then read YOUR post and asked, "What are they talking about Grandpa"? At every junction in our long history we have faced one crisis or another but NEVER have we asked anyone to face such as we have today! At every junction we have always found, within our ranks, someone who can and does reach for Greatness, this we most certainly have in Obama. With ALL such leaders there is ONE common thread, that leader has been able to inspire and give the People Hope. I differ with all the Radical Right People who seem to want Obama to fail... I believe he can and will rise above all this and he WILL lead us out of it!

Mr. Obama is going to finally have to make some decisions instead of voting "Present". I think Congressman Boehner was correct in saying Obama was "chicken s***t". The Democrats are finally going to have to take some responsibility for what happens in this country.
