dblake63.....You need to relax a little. No one is going to come and take away your guns. You have allowed the NRA to get you all worked up only because they are a now a wing of the republican party and they wanted to make sure you voted for McCain. Look, instead of your knee jerk reaction to political propaganda, have a conversation with someone on the other side. I don''t own guns, I prefer dogs, but in my city two of my dogs are considered dangerous and I have to pay 50 dollars a year for each of them or they will take them and kill them. They are both pitbulls and neither would hurt a soul. We had to register them with the city and they come around from time to time to check that we are following all their rules. Guns are no different. There are rules about owning them and all you have to do is comply with the law. If you do, you have nothing to fear. Just be grateful the government isn''t coming to your home like they do to us. And look around you. Everything is regulated from booze to driving your car. Excluding the financial and health care industries but that''s another ball of wax. So relax, your guns are safe. Oh, I don''t appreciate your reference to the president elect as a "socialist piece of gargage." You had better hope that he can dig us out of the hole that the republicans have put us in during the last 30 years.

Dud
e, check Obama''''s voting record while he was in state government. Every time there was a gun control measure he voted for it.
****************************************

Dude, you have the supreme court and the constituion at your back. Chill out. I am planning on buying another gun sometime next year. A revolver, I think, but I am not in any rush. If you are really nervous, find a place, or construct a place underground to store your guns. Then if Obama shows up, just say, "What guns?"

Thank you for re-inforcing my point with better words.

Pro-Gunners assume they have the time to shoot back.

In Communism, the Dictator is responsible for the Welfare of the People.

In Democracy, WE THE PEOPLE are responsible for our own Welfare.

Obviously, WE THE PEOPLE are doing a very bad job given our situations all around America today.

You assume Americans are Responsible and I am pointing out how Irresponsible are WE THE PEOPLE.

I do not understand the need for 50MM weapons, or uzies(spelling?) or other weapons like this to be owned, but that is still an issue that I thinks to be talked about. I hate to tell you, but we do have to have some rules and regulations on items that are used for killing or maming. Get real!

So true. I can''t get over that story last week of a father giving his son an uzi and the son killing himself because he couldn''t control the uzi which flipped back and shot him dead. I think the child was like eight years old.

I have nothing against Home Schooling. Instead of Fixing our Public Schools, we want to replace it with another experiment.

It is impossible to switch to ''home schooling'' for almost all parents because a tiny number of Parents can afford the time and got the talent to do it. Especially in these days when the Career is more important than the family.

Americans make it great with Public Schools.

The only reason American got rich after WWII is because America had a World Economic Monopoly since the Economies of all other nations were in Ruins and Destroyed.

Other nations had to buy from ''Made in USA'' at our High Price.

Today, Americans got NO MONOPOLY. American must learn to compete head on with other nation''s products.

My point is that Great Public and Private Schools was not the reason for America''s Prosperity after WWII.

I am a left-wing, liberal Democrat. I don''t have a problem with people owning guns. But what is the problem with registering guns? They are deadly weapons just like cars and cars have to be registered. No one wants to take away rights, just a little oversight would be nice. I want background checks to be done on all firearms, yes, so what? Unless you are a criminal or insane, what do have to worry about? I do not understand the need for 50MM weapons, or uzies(spelling?) or other weapons like this to be owned, but that is still an issue that I thinks to be talked about. I got news for all you goobers out there, you have the right to keep and bear arms. We all know this. This is what a lot of the snuff-chewing, squirrel shooters don''''t get. You can keep your arms, all of them. The government will simply halt the sale of all ammunition, black powder, and reloading supplies. It''''s that simple folks. So make a run on bullets first. If not, you''''ll be swinging your guns like Davy Crockett at the Alamo. PS. (That never happened either as they led you to believe.) Washington never told a lie? Etc, Etc, Etc.

If I knock on your door with a hidden gun, how do you know I am not coming to kill you as soon as the front door is half opened?

And it can go the other way as we at Halloween. A father and his three kids go to a door for trick or treat and one of the kids gets shot dead straight away. If dad had been carrying a gun, would he have been able to stop the home owner from shooting his son?

Are assault rifles a necessity? You can''t hunt with them, so that leaves only one thing.

In Summary, the 2nd Amendment in the U.S. Constitution is useless today.

SWAT Team/Government can come with a military M1 tank and there is nothing you can do with all your guns.

A smart evil person will kill you when you are the least ready and I do not care how many guns you have or where you have your guns.

Several years ago (late 1980s), I read somewhere that there are 2 guns for each American in America.

With Violence going up, are you saying we need 3 or more guns per American to turn it around?

If I knock on your door with a hidden gun, how do you know I am not coming to kill you as soon as the front door is half opened?

Even if we didn''t have rights guaranteed by our constitution (those founding fathers were some really smart, experienced guys), all the evidence suggests that armed people are safer people (look at countries like Congo, where they listened to the United Nations, disarmed themselves, and now lack the means of self-defense).

About 97% of the time, just showing a gun to a bad guy sends them packing. They are chickens themselves--that''s why they pick on the elderly and women with kids so much.

Even Obama fully supports a well-funded civilian security force, so he obviously sees the benefits of an armed citizenry.

When all my basic needs in life are met, who cares about the rest - I am happy like a King.

When all my basic needs are not met like in America, I need to scream and flick out like you.

Why is it that most national academic championships, like the spelling bee, are won by home schooled children? ...

Look what it''''s done for you. I think it is wonderful that they are some home-schooled who win geography, and spelling contests.

1) What happens to they later in life, and
2) How does the average home-schooler fair compared to the average public-schooled graduate?

Posted by Evian_Ycnan at 07:50 PM : Nov 07, 2008

Well that''s fine you think public schools are so great. Let your kids attend them and be trained how to disrespect their parents and bad mouth others in general.

Just keep your laws in your "blue state". I''ll keep living here (Texas) where we have a choice. Note: until last year people in California had a choice, but if you try to home school there - You are subject to a child protective services investigation there.

Without a doubt, parents of ''Home School'' kids care so much about their kids that they vest all their time and money to accomplish this task.

How many of American Parents have the luxury/option to vest that huge amount of time?

Communism is getting Extremely Rich. See China and Vietnam.

Socialism is getting very Rich. See Europe, Canada, Asia and Latin America.

Democracy is getting very Poor. See USA.

Capitalism works best under Communism where workers have almost no rights and under the FIRM CONTROL of Greed and Speculation by a Central Government.

I do not care about my government''s human right policies if I am getting extremely rich like the Chineses right now.

An example of why foreigners view Americans as Stupid Species at the same level like the monkeys.

Posted by lovegetpeace at 07:37 PM : Nov 07, 2008

Wow that one really hurts our feelings. They have already been stripped of their rights years ago so the very thought of a person with a gun scares them because all their needs are supplied by the state. Kind of like a baby 1st day out of the womb. They have nothing to be proud of period!

If you like foreigners why not go join them? Dont let the door hit you on the way out!
