President-elect Barack Obama''s newly appointed chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, served on the board of directors of the federal mortgage firm Freddie Mac at a time when scandal was brewing at the troubled agency and the board failed to spot "red flags," according to government reports reviewed by ABC News.com.

I would like to be a fly on the wall when Obama is handed "the book" and is briefed on the realities in this world. I''''m sure there will be a deer in the headlights look when he realizes that he can''''t just run around and wave a magic wand and change everything.

Funny how everyone always blames the figurehead in Bush, but never congress, While Clinton''s first TWO years in office had Democratic RULE that helped cause all this debacle - It''s not like in a Presidents total 8 year term that everything comes to a head... It takes TIME for their decisions to rear their ugly head.

Government control, the Democratic way... How about less Government like NASA the billions they spend, & instead of the JAIL system... We put everyone on a secluded Island that''s monitored ... At least that way my tax dollars will not be going to give those sorry losers free health care, & on the PLUS side they can kill each other off, without the legal expense in the death penalty.

"I think that the plan that we''ve put forward is the right one, but, obviously, over the next several weeks and months, we''re going to be continuing to take a look at the data and see what''s taking place in the economy as a whole," Mr. Obama said.

There is always a "but" with this guy. Gives himself an out for not keeping his promises. Which, actually, he can''t keep anyway because a president can not legislate. Congress must keep his promises for him.

Mr. Obama and Biden met before the news conference with the transition economic advisory board, a high-powered collection of business, academic and government leaders. They included Lawrence Summers, who some have mentioned as a candidate for Treasury secretary, a post he held in the Clinton administration; Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, whose state has been hit hard by losses in the auto industry; Google CEO Eric Schmidt; and former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker.

God help us all

As he prepares to join an exclusive club of presidents, Mr. Obama said: "I''ve spoken to all of them that are living" and has reread some of President Lincoln''s writings.

This is true socialism and Obamites just sold out the US like we were trying to tell you. Ron Paul has the answer and you best wake up fast before you sell your self short to another loony

Most Americans have been selling out the U.S. for years (Buying other Country%u2019s products) even our own Government by allowing Free Trade (Thanks Clinton) - We need a happy medium... Smaller Government, but more regulations on how things are done Deregulation hurts the American consumer, & Free Trade hurts American jobs.

Any body but me notice that Predident Elect Obama spoke of his Tax Plan in the past tense?

DO YOU INTEND TO SEEK AN INCOME TAX INCREASE FOR UPPER-INCOME AMERICANS IN 2009?

My tax plan represented a net tax cut. It provided for substantial middle class tax cuts, 95 percent of working Americans would receive them. It also provided for cuts in capital gains for small business, additional tax credits, all of it is designed for job growth. My priority is going to be how do we grow the economy, how do we create more jobs. I think that the plan that we''ve put forward is the right one, but obviously over the next several weeks and months we''re gong to be continuing to take a look at the data and see what''s taking place in the economy as a whole. But understand the goal of my plan is to provide tax relief to families that are struggling but also to boost the capacity of the economy to grow from the bottom up. All right. Thank you very much you guys."

I hope he does turn out like Ronald Regan. The man did so much for our country, not the least of which was bankrupting the soviets and ending communism in the eastern bloc with out firing a shot. Of course we did create Bin-Laden in the process so things are not always so simple.

Posted by kevnkar at 11:07 PM : Nov 07, 2008

Yes, not like Ronald Regan could tell the future, & we also helped Saddam gain a little more firepower, but we fixed that problem to only create another... Obama will find out the hard way. Everything he does to try to resolve one problem has a good possibility to create another, or many others.

"He said his focus would be on producing jobs and mentioned actions to help the auto industry and small business and aid for state and local governments so they aren''t forced to lay off workers or raise taxes"

Thats Obama''s plan just print more paper $''s makes the dollar worth less & less. This man is a moron to think that he can just print it without hurting the poor & Middle class.

This is true socialism and Obamites just sold out the US like we were trying to tell you. Ron Paul has the answer and you best wake up fast before you sell your self short to another loony

Most American want lower taxes. The best way to accomplish this, with out the increase of the nation deficit would be to increase funding for Department of Homeland Security and eliminate the Department of Defense. We all know these departments are repetitious, and the Department of Defense is all about the offense. American needs to protect the homeland both in security and economy, before we should do military charity work throughout the world.

Why not end aid to Illegals throughout the USA. The would save much and keep taxes low. Also might force many to go back to the home country.

Huh???? The two departments are nothing alike. You can not replace one with the other. Please try to do a little homework and figure out what these two departments are for.
