President-Elect Calls For New Stimulus Package, Says U.S. Is Facing "Greatest Economic Challenge Of Our Lifetime"
- Republicans, you lost.
You lost.
And you lost BIG-time.
This election was the most damning rejection of Republican policies in the last 100 years. Congratulations! Good going!
Get your heads out of your butts, Republicans, or you will continue to lose.
Your only hope is to move LEFT. Yep, that''''s right. Keep moving left...a little more...just a bit more...yep, keep going, you''''re almost there at the political center of US politics...keep going...don''''t be afraid.
Ditch the christian evangelical wingnuts. Ditch the anti-abortion shiite. Ditch the stem cell research opposition. Ditch tax breaks for the rich. Ditch corporate welfare. Ditch the hawkish pro-war attitudes. Ditch the religious and cultural xenophobia.

The answer is no. I will not conform to your ideas or your way of life. I will continue to be a Christian until the day I die. I will stay offensive to all you liberals, will stand for the right of matrimony between a man and woman only, the truth that God is our Creator, and that judgement will come on all sin that is not confessed before Almighty God. I''m here to stay, God bless America! - Reply to this comment

If you can shift left, then there is still hope for the future of your party. If not, then it was nice knowing you. Good luck in your future endeavours (you''ll definitely need it!).
Your long-term survival totally depends on your ability to understand and acknowledge that under past GOP leadership, America has steadily migrated from center-right to center-left. That is the new reality. Adapt to it, or fade away into history.
The far-right is dead. Get over it. Move on.- Reply to this comment
- I don''''t understand your statement about "the GOP has held a gun to our heads and threatened American citizens with violence if we disagree."
How so ?

Call up Bush and ask him for a refund of the money he took by force to pay for Iraq. See what he says. There is a gun to every Americans head. The GOP and Democrats alike pretend there is no gun. - Reply to this comment

Well said. I would go further and say if anybody doubts Obama will use force against American citizens, just try to imagine how he will get the money for anything. He is gonna have to use threats against people who disagree with his tax policy, or else he can embrace freedom and stop all taxation. Which do you think he will do? There is no proper way to tax, just as there is no proper way to steal or murder. - Reply to this comment
- william2, there were much worse Presidents. I give you Andrew Jackson who gave us the Trail of Tears in violation of an order by the Supreme Court and was responsible for the Great Panic of 1838. Or how about Millard Fillmore, who gave us the "Runaway Slave Act." Or how about "do nothing" Coolidge. I put Bush in the top 10 worst Presidents of all time, but there have been worse.

- Look, Bush was an awful President. However, that does not mean that Obama will be a "good" President. But when it comes to economics, he''s blowing hot air with all this talk of acting swiftly. First, he can''t really do anything until after January 20th. He has no authority at this time. Second, even once he is President, he doesn''t have the money to do anything. We have 10 Trillion dollars in debt and it''s growing. Right now, the deficit for this year is 700 Billion and climbing. By the time he gets inaugurated, the debt will be about 11.5 Trillion dollars. No one is going to lend us a penny to dig our way out of this recession. And who do you tax, when incomes will be declining? Even the very wealthy are loosing money hand over fist. There will be no capital gains to tax. And most big business, with maybe the exception of oil companies, will not be generating profits for years to come. There is no one to tax to generate income. This article is nothing but pipe dreams.

- Speakinup21, Iran is doing nothing USA has not. Besides, even if I agree with you, which I partially do, the GOP has held a gun to our heads and threatened American citizens with violence if we disagree. Give all Americans the option to choose to fund anti-Iran efforts. Only then is the battle a morally-justifiable one.

You call me sick for raising the spector of
1) Iran building a nuclear weapon
2) Giving it to a terrorist organization.
3) Which then ships it to Seattle or San Diego or Portland, or San Francisco and detonates it.
hey, I don''''t care - call me sick - I''''m just thinking about the millions of people that will lose their lives, ok.

Wow, are you planning something? Can you tell us when you''re going to do this, will you be alone?
