He%u2019s President-elect Barack Obama%u2019s new chief of staff, according to various Nov. 6 media reports, but Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., also has some baggage pertaining to the financial crisis. Will anyone in the media take note?

Emanuel, who was a senior adviser for former President Bill Clinton throughout the 1990s, was appointed to the board of Freddie Mac upon his departure from the Clinton administration.

%u201CClinton%u2019s going-away gift to Emanuel was a seat on the quasi-governmental Freddie Mac board, which paid him $231,655 in director%u2019s fees in 2001 and $31,060 in 2000,%u201D Lynn Sweet wrote for the Chicago Sun-Times on Jan. 3, 2002.

During the time Emanuel spent on the board, Freddie Mac was plagued with scandal involving campaign contributions and accounting irregularities. Freddie Mac and its sister organization Fannie Mae were taken over by the federal government in September 2008 after years of mismanagement and scandal. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson put the two beleaguered GSEs into a conservatorship, stripping common stock shareholders of their rights to govern the companies.

Obama is not the man he pretended to be during the campaign. The people who worked to keep the truth from leaking are going to be the first to see how much of a betrayal they played a part in during the campaign. Obama is going to turn 180 degrees within 90 days of being president and at the risk of looking like the biggest sucke.rs on the face of the planet, he''ll get away with it while everyone who wet themselves at the sight or sound of him before the election continues that hollow support until it''s obvious he''s out to run democracy into the ground. If you voted for him...you bought it hook and line and sinker...and it will cost us dearly. He''s a wolf in sheep''s skin. 48% of the voters were not wrong. For the sake of putting a black man in office during their lifetime 54% s.crewed us over in a way that will set history on its heels....way to go.

Remember Carter...remember the hostages and degradation they suffered on his watch...now multiply that by 100. Obama is a fake....and he could be purple for all I care...he''s still a phony. Spare me the racist c.rap...which is just a new form of bullying...like Bush''s ''either you''re an American and with me or you''re a terroist'' battlecry to divide the country. Obama will do the same thing...now how you gonna deal with that kind of ''change''? Same c.rap...different wrapper.

I think we should all at least give the man a chance. We might be pleasantly surprised, I sure hope we are. It has been a defining moment in our history of America that we all should be proud of, Dem. or Rep. It is amazing to see what can happen in this country when its citizens demand change on every level. What other country can say that??

Take care, Sarah. Like TheMasses said, we have all come to a great realization on here that we''re first and foremost humans, and Americans. Have a good night, and again, I apologize for the bad things I said in haste.

I_AM_DJ are you insane how long did you give George Bush, he managed to royally F##K the country up his eight years in office.

Paranoia surely runs rapid in America.

He''ll do this country harm, so paranoid and delusional..

Obama isn''t any different from any other politician, hopefully he''ll do a better job, than the previous idiots...

McCain certainly wouldn''t have done better...

The ignorance and stupidity of some Americans appears to be innate...

my husbend would kill me if he knew I was writing this-

I, Sarah Hannen, do hearby pledge to those of you on this board, that I will give OBAMA 1 YEAR (January 20, 2010) to prove that he will be a good leader and not harm this country.

If Obama proves to be unfit to be the President of the United States, I will spend every last penny I have in Washington DC to make sure that man is taken out of office.

Sincerely,

Sarah Hannen
Signed this 6th day of November 2008.

Well, I guess several of us, including myself have said things about others that more than likely aren''t true to get people fired up. I personally wasn''t overly excited about either candidate, but I too think we''ll be ok as a country. God Bless you guys who have served this country bravely. You have given us a freedom only others wish they could have. Please accept my apologies for offending anyone on here, I think I too might have gotten a bit crazy. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I just pray that Obama will have the strength necessary to make our standing within the world what it used to be. God Bless America.

I_AM_DJ -

We do indeed have something in common.

I love this nation too.

Truthfully a lot of my anger seems to come from my husbend these days. He is very strongly opineonated and sometimes I get caught up in it.

Again, deep apologies for the words I said to you.

I am saddened to hear you are disabled as well, but you seem like a fine person, and maybe it does not make you sad.

I will pray for your father and brother.

I_AM_DJ-

I would like to take this opportunity and publicly apologize to you.

My remarks were hurtful and unfair.

I am deeply honored and humbled by your Father''s service, and your younger brother''s service as well. They are great patriots.

Please accept my apology, and understand that I have full and complete respect for them.

I_AM_DJ,

It seems as if we''re fighting against brick walls, because that''s the amount of brains we''re dealing with on here. It''s kinda sad.

ignorince. dems and libs. hand in hand.

I fear for our Nation''''''''s future if people like you are allowed to walk the streets with my kids.

You just make it so easy, sarah. (Another Sarah who probably doesn''t know that Africa is a continent, not a country.)
You post about ignorance, and misspell it ''ignorince.'' Out ''their'' in San Francisco and ''your done my freind.'' Really, we couldn''t make up things that would make republicans look as stupid as they do in their posts. Just for the record, Sarah, it''s ignorance, there, you''re and friend.

sarahhannen2,

I thought you were done trying to "educate" us, as you call it. I wouldn''t degrade myself as to be educated by you if my life depended on it. I''m proud of my Bachelor''s degree and faith. I know a lot more than you obviously do, and I have proven it time and again on here. Go home and continue inbreeding with the rest of your family. I bet your husband is actually your brother.

cntrymuzksux,

It''s no use, she''s a lost cause. Incapable of realizing she''s an idiot and shouldn''t be teaching children of ANY age. She''s probably a "teacher", if you use the term loosely, and know that she home schools her poor children.
