CBSNews.com Analysis: The Keys To Deciphering The Presidential Election
- What will OBammy do when he loses. He''s an outsider in the Senate. Never really been there, so he can''t hang around. Besides, noone really like him. He won''t have any friends in DC cause he didn''t win. I guess he can go back to his fancy home in Chicago and pal up with his old buddies; maybe even look up old Larry Sinclair for some HOMOfun. It''ll be just like old times. Only no future.

- Well, I can see only the most vicious and hateful McCain supporters are left grasping and gasping on here. For those on both sides who have been respectful and thoughtful contributors to these boards over the past year, I know that you have voted, or are in the process of voting. Thank you for participating. Regardless of who ended up winning this election we need to pull together as Americans, get behind our new POTUS, and address the issues facing our country.
We are so used to having deceitful criminal and divisive people in the executive branch that I know this will be difficult for some, but it is imperative we give the new POTUS every chance to prove he is who he claims to be, and that he is going to follow through with his promises.
Here''s to America, the greatest country in the world. - Reply to this comment
- Barack Hussein Obama was born at the "Kapi''olani Medical Center for Women & Children in Honolulu, Hawaii. Fact. Not in Kenya/his father was from Kenya. Barack Hussein Obama,Jr. was named after his father:Barack Hussein Obama,Sr. Barack Obama,Jr. was "NOT" named after...Saddam "Hussein".The name "Hussein" in Muslim Countries-is like Jones or Smith in the US. Barack''s father was Muslim...not Jr.-He chose Christianity as his faith,WAS raised by his mother and her parents and was given the opportunity to choose for himself whatever spiritual belief he felt was right for his own life/my parents did the same for me-All public records of Barack Obamma''s life are available everywhere & in front of you. Open your eyes and ears-you might learn SOMETHING-some truths-rather than contorted rumor, lies and spewing of vile or unextenuating comments of fabrication...Just go Vote for McCain and not waste any more space ON this response page. People for Obama are for "Hope" and "The Way" to get us up and out of this mess-from Bush and his non-illustrious sidekicks! Let''s build together...Our Country ...back into an undivided strong nation for us all!Obama "08

- No self-respecting country would elect as president a man who spent 20 years taking spiritual guidance from a pastor who openly hates the country. And no country that loses its self respect can anticipate a bright future.

You''''re a misguided fool. Wright loves this country, but he hates some of the evil things it has done under the control people like GWB and Tricky Di-ck Cheney. What he said is no different that what Falwell said when he blamed America for 9-11, saying that it was God''''s punishment on America. McCain warmly embraced Falwell before Falwell died. So, McCain hates America every bit as much as Obama does, so now what are we to do? Hey, I know! How about if we all grow up, and stop trying smear the other side with lies? You are what is wrong with democracy in America. This country will be better off when people like you finally kick the bucket. - Reply to this comment
- Each one of you who thinks Obama will change the country- you are right- You are voting for your death sentenc e. That is change indeed.
Good luck, good ridens.. - Reply to this comment
- Obama has said more than enough, that it should have turned off the average American, but it in fact has not. I believe that it has not, because Americans are so desperate for change that they are willing to take a chance on someone, who, by his own admissions does not have a strong interest in the wants and needs of American middle class.
I shudder to think at what will happen once the American people realize what they have actually done, and what they have gotten themselves into by electing Obama. If anyone thought the storm clouds were overhead before this election, what will they think when the hurricane force winds of Obama and a liberal congress hit our shores? - Reply to this comment
- Of all the elections that I have observed over my lifetime of nearly sixty years, only one other election seems to capture the tension that this election has sparked, and that was the election of 1960, when Kennedy and Nixon were on the ballot.
Unfortunately, Obama has neither the experience or the political savvy that Kennedy had, and McCain is not nearly the ruthless politician that Nixon was. Still I fear this election more than any election that has been held during those 60 years.
Neither of the candidates running on the two mainstream parties is, in my opinion the man for the job. That said, I believe that if the American electorate believes that electing Obama will bring the changes that are really needed for them and our country, that in the long run, and maybe even in the short run, they will be sadly mistaken. Which begs for the question to be ask, "Are the American people buying, "a pig in the poke," and I believe the answer is, "Yes." - Reply to this comment
- jh6379again : Are implying you are that naive or that dumb? Have you even been reading about your candidates? If you have not, don''t waste our country on your idiocy.

- A former top deputy to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan [Dr Vibert White Jr] tells Newsmax that Barack Obama%u2019s ties to the black nationalist movement in Chicago run deep, and that for many years the two men have had %u2018an open line between them%u2019 to discuss policy and strategy, either directly or through intermediaries.
%u2026 In addition to the ideological affinity Obama expressed for the black nationalist movement, White believes that Obama owes much of his success as a public orator to speaking techniques that Farrakhan developed over the years, and exploited for years to great success%u2026 - Reply to this comment
- How many ill-fated stories do we have to hear about Obama%u2019s numerous character flaws or how he conveniently overlooks the most obvious evils in his laundry list of dirty life-long associations before we conclude that this guy is in no way suited for a leadership role even at the lowest levels of society? His selective memory is frightening at best.

- Sensing that the interview was winding down he asked, "When would you like me to begin?" I informed him I had not yet made my decision and he became suddenly belligerent. He accused me of being biased, just as he had predicted. He said that he had already spoken to all of my associates at the company, asserting that they had immense respect for him and threatened that they would be very upset if he were not hired. He then flashed a big, broad smile, shook my hand and ended the meeting with, "This was great. Let me know when you''ve made your decision."

- Obama said that the man who had occupied the position for the last eight years was the worst that we had ever had and because of this the company was "not what it once was". He said he could bring change.
"You intend to change the way the job is performed?" I asked. "No," he said. "I intend to change the whole company, the entire industry even." I informed him that this was a commendable goal, but judging from his resume he did not have the kind of experience that would warrant such grand ambition. "I don''t have a lot of experience it is true, but I have good judgment". I asked him to give me an example and he referred me to a speech he had written years ago. He said that his performance in this interview should be proof enough that he has the necessary qualifications for the job, and that, in fact, he was the most qualified candidate who has applied for this position in a very long time. He compared himself to several legends in the industry, even implying that his performance would transcend the very job itself.
I informed him that for security reasons I had had a background check made on him and although his record was clean I did need to get some information about a number of questionable people with whom he had associated with over the years.
He added, "If it''s necessary for me to denounce them to get the job, I will." - Reply to this comment
