Democrat Campaigns Hard In Traditional Red States, But GOP Rival Predicts Election Day Upset

Then if you have such a problem with the so called unfair reporting by CBS, why do you spend so much time here? Most people with a brain don''t intentionally stay in an environment that causes so much discomfort. - Reply to this comment
- I just read a nice piece on how Sarah Palin has galvanized the extreme right-wing-of-the-right-wing of the republican party. Indeed, she has given this group a strong voice for their only concerns. These are or course: Anti-Abortion, Anti-Gay, Anti-Gun Control.
Now that is very nice, but I was wondering why it seems nearly impossible to find a conservative who holds these values while also being able to articulate a general grasp of knowledge about something else. Obviously, SP does very well with folks who would disregard anything but their own agenda. But why isn''t she able to connect with those who might also care about the country in general. Personally, I am also anti-gun control. But I know that the court has ruled strongly in favor of the 2nd Amendment(I therefore, doubt if any new gun control laws will be passed anytime soon), I also favor a massive investment in nuclear power. As some know, this is something that Senator Obama does not strongly support. However, I know that once in office, either person will have to conclude that any energy policy without the nuclear option will be doomed to failure from the start. So, again, I make a logical decision based on what I see ahead. And so while Senator Obama and I may disagree on a few issues, his wisdom and leadership on the other 95 percent outweighs any of my personal concerns. I just wish that more Americans were able use their God given brains to overpower their God given fears. - Reply to this comment

Our problem with China, and not only with China, is our debt. And Obama is not responsible for it. Bush and McCain yes, and, for a part, because of this stupid Iraq occupation. - Reply to this comment
- If 60 to 80 percent of people are refusing to answer the polls,
then the polls are ABSOLUTELY meaningless.
AND
if a majority of those 60 to 80 percent who are
"refusing to answer" are McCain supporters
because they don''''t want to be labeled
"politically incorrect" by the stalinist left media,
then Obama''''s so-called "lead" is
NOTHING MORE THAN A MIRAGE

- In past elections, when pollsters make calls
to determine which candidate has a lead,
an AVERAGE of 20 to 30 percent
"refuse to answer" the pollsters question.
The pollsters never include the people w
ho "refuse to answer" in their polls
and count ONLY the people who answered the question
HOWEVER, in this election,
A RECORD NUMBER OF PEOPLE ( 60 to 80 percent )
are refusing to answer pollsters question
about McCain or Obama.
60 to 80 percent !!!

- For all of you who have decided to vote for the Obama administration, under Mr. Obama''s plan of taxing the wealthiest and the businesses your jobs will go to another source overseas. Companies answer to their stockholders and the bottom line. If profits begin to fall because of taxes they will simply find a cheaper labor market to bolster the bottom line. So those who are in line for their handout, you know houses you can''t afford and checks from the gov''t, or more welfare ...when you don''t have or can''t find a job, or better yet, when someone in India, Russia or wherever is doing the job that you could be doing and your handout is gone buying goods from China to help the Chinese economy and your cold and hungry you can eat your Obama / Biden placard. McCain / Palin may not be the best choice but it is, IMHO, the definite lesser of two evils. And remember if you are always getting your money and/or living from your gov''t...it is those that give you your "fish" that absolutely without any doubt "Owns you in every way shape and fashion....................

WHY ISNT CBS REPORTING THIS? The answer is simple: CBS is a biased farleftwing OBAMALOVER.

Typical no-brain neocon response.
I post saying that people are sick of lies and smears and your response is...
MORE LIES AND SMEARS!
Keep it up! This is just the thing that''s pushing more and more voters away from McCain. They''re sick of the negativity.

''The 2008 campaign enters its final weekend with an advantage for Barack Obama in tone as well as substance: Likely voters are twice as apt to say John McCain has gone too far in criticizing Obama as to say Obama''s crossed the line in taking on McCain.
It might be worth it for McCain if his criticisms were gaining traction -- but the latest ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll suggests otherwise.'' - Reply to this comment
- Grouchyjohn: The ''''''''fairness doctrine'''''''' is a classic method to end free speech. Would NPR, CBS, ABC, NBC, NYT, Wash. Post, and mainstream liberal media be affected? Of course not, it would only be used against anti liberal groups.
Posted by downsteamjim at 09:20 AM : Nov 01, 2008
The first amendment guarantees free speech for everyone, including members of the media. It''s irrelevant to me. I could care less. If you REALLY are concerned with free speech being violated, then take a peek at this:

I have yet to see anywhere that says McCain will tax our medical insurance.

You''re voting for someone, and you don''t know why? You have NO CLUE as to where he stands on the issues?

Then you haven''t been paying attention.
http://swampland.blogs.time.com/2008/09/11/mccains_health_care_tax_increa/
Today''s issue: health insurance. John McCain wants to tax your employer-provided health care benefits. He wants to replace those benefits with an insufficient tax credit--$2500 for individuals and $5000 for families (the average cost per family for health insurance is $12000).
There is a positive, progressive tax aspect to this: wealthier people should have to pay for health insurance themselves, without tax breaks from the federal government.
But make no mistake: this plan will do little or nothing for those who do not have insurance now--unless they are young and healthy--and it may well hurt a fair number of workers, especially unionized workers, who get gold-plated benefits from their employers.
It will certainly do nothing for families with members who have pre-existing conditions or children with special needs--because it makes no provision to regulate the insurers, forcing them to cover all comers at "community" rates that don''t discriminate against the people who need health insurance most. - Reply to this comment
