After the Republicans see that intelligence is kinda handy in presidents, the country will move together.

Posted by smurfcrusher

Bush''s IQ as revealed by his SAT score was revealed as 125-130, putting him in the top 95% of Americans.

Obama has not publicly released his SAT scores for some reason. Maybe he is highly intelligent. I hope so. It would be, as you say, "kinda handy."

AAhhh.... the perils of using form letters to criticize bloggers. [chuckle]

justsurfing, It''s SO much better, when you can write responses to specific posts, instead of pasting in general criticisms from other blogs! hahahahah

ChicagoRail,

You are beneath the dignity of most human beings. You appear capable of atrocity. Uncivilized.

You probably blame the world for your social alienation.

Bad manners. That''s the root of your lack of popularity. Work on you.

It''s time to stop trying to think about an election, issues, or anything.

Work on your humanity, civility, and manners.

Become the person whose company others could safely enjoy.

Become a "safe" person... instead of a verbal abuser.

"...According to AK Statute 39.52.110(a), using a person''''s official position for personal OR financial gain is an offense.

Palin''''s lawyers told outright lies when they claimed she was innocent since she did not profit financially from her acts. The statute (law) makes it very clear that personal gain is separate from financial gain by inserting the word "or."

Her lawyers either need to take a refresher course in ethics, a remedial reading course or be disbarred for their unethical conduct (lying)."

I think we agree completely. Outstanding post.

"...But, arguing with people who are willfully ignorant or dogmatic is pointless. They believe it and that makes it a fact."

Sadly for them, no. Reality doesn''t care what people think, it exists regardless.

The Catholic Church does have quite a history of torture, and indeed, it''s the defining symbol of the faith - crucifixion. Yes, the message and meaning attached to the symbolism is intended to be a positive one - but the symbol remains.

Regarding contraception - what better way to get more followers than to ban contraception? Suffering is cleansing to the church, so it''s OK if this means you''re not far from starving.
So much the better - more desperate people are more devout and less likely to stray than content people.

Who''s playing lawyer? That was a direct quote from the article. Perhaps you''re dismayed your hero will be brought to justice.

"Which means that pro-torture advocates are just blowing smoke when they claim they are against "murder."

Abortion is not murder or "taking a life."

Period."

Posted by tuckerndfw

Next they''ll be claiming that NOT having s.e.x. is like having a preemptive abortion, since a fetus doesn''t result when it otherwise would.

"The LAST person to decide whether an unborn child is to live or die is a selfish, often hormonally stressed mother. Only the most cruel mother, or an insane one, would dare kill her own.

To plan the death is murder."

I''m sure someone who was, say, raped repeatedly and impregnated by her father should of course carry the fetus to term, in your opinion.

No thanks.

Troopergate is far from over. Expect censure in the Alaska senate or worse.

http://www.newsweek.com/id/163465

"...Some weeks ago, the McCain team devised a plan to have Palin file an ethics complaint against herself with the State Personnel Board, arguing that it alone was capable of conducting a fair, nonpartisan inquiry into whether she fired Monegan because he refused to fire Wooten, who had been involved in a messy custody battle with her sister. Some Democrats ridiculed the move, noting that the personnel board answered to Palin. But the board ended up hiring an aggressive Anchorage trial lawyer, Timothy Petumenos, as an independent counsel. McCain aides were chagrined to discover that Petumenos was a Democrat who had contributed to Palin''s 2006 opponent for governor, Tony Knowles. Palin is now scheduled to be questioned next week, and the counsel''s report could be released soon after. "We took a gamble when we went to the personnel board," said a McCain aide who asked not to be identified discussing strategy. While the McCain camp still insists Palin "has nothing to hide," it acknowledges a critical finding by Petumenos would be even harder to dismiss."

"Despite the media''''s and Sarah''''s persistent claims she did not violate the law, she violated AK Statute 39.52.110(a). Why people, including her, keep claiming she did not violate the law is beyond me."

Posted by tuckerndfw

The official explanation is that it wasn''t a violation of the law because there was no financial gain from it.

Basically they are trying to remake the law to fit their circumstances. In reality, financial gain is a motivation for many, but not all, unethical acts the law was designed to prevent.

It''s merely a symptom, however. The budget could easily afford several thousand dollars here, several thousand dollars there by crooks. The real damage that unethical behavior causes is a loss of faith in government. This is far more destructive and is the source of far more terrible reactions; such as revolution.

While we are not going to see a revolt because of Palin''s unethical acts, the fact remains that the law exists to prevent people from abusing their position as she did, regardless of whether there is a financial underpinning, or not.

My opinion transcends politics.

She is a national & international disgrace and has made her entire family a laughingstock.

She should withdraw from the race immediately."

I respect your stance.

In this case, I have no qualms about keeping her on the ticket now since I believe their chances of victory have passed.

But winning the election is only one important goal. Education is another. Sarah Palin is the ideal spokesperson for the Republican party. Fluff, unethical, unintelligent, lusting for power without considering the dire consequences of success.

She''s an ideal mirror for the Republicans to look at themselves with, and a striking contrast to Obama.

"I agree that Sarah Palin is totally unfit to be president or VP, but I wanted to clear up the idea that Little Bristol was raped.

If you go all the way back to the comment I posted at 3:22 pm today, I posted the AK statute regarding statutory rape.

Despite the media''''s and Sarah''''s persistent claims she did not violate the law, she violated AK Statute 39.52.110(a). Why people, including her, keep claiming she did not violate the law is beyond me."

Posted by tuckerndfw

I''ll take you at your word.

I''m just saying that the Palins, with their busy schedule of pursuing personal vendettas using the power of their office, probably weren''t aware that it was not rape, and so masterminded a coverup.

By making Trig seem like Sarah''s child, contrary to the evidence, it would preempt a rape investigation that they would otherwise believe could be held.

In reality it would not have, since the law is clear. But, there''s no proof that her boyfriend is really the father, either.

The second child she''s currently pregnant with was just the unfortunate result of an abstinence-only education.

I respectfully disagree. Palin is the biggest gift to Democrats since Nixon. Keep her running!
