Although I respect Lewis for his contributions during the Civil Rights Movement, he is just another tired-old-worn-out former civil rights leader. McCain is being negative but has he blocked any door to keep blacks from entering a school? Has he stopped any black from voting. Please, Lewis, stop making the stupid comparisons. You insult your own intelligence, or lack of.

I am somewhay heartened to see even many Repubs rejecting the McCain/Palin "red meat" rhetoric of late.

Such behavior not only harms us directly, but diminishes us as well in the world''s eyes.

For Rep Lewis to say that the atmosphere reminded him of the tension & anxiety that the country was experiencing during the Civil Rights era is not exactly "playing the race card". It seems to be an observation...from someone who was lived those experiences firsthand. It is arrogant for anyone to assume otherwise unless you were front and center at that time. If you had lost your home to a fire and later saw someone playing with matches-you would probably alert the person as to potentional danger based on your own experiences.
It is irresponsible for any politician to whip up a crowd to the point where people are espousing violence. Unless of course...that was the intent all along. Sorry, my friend...this isn''t some tailgate party where two competing sets of fans are trying to prove their team loyalty. This is two politicians explaining what actions they want to take as leaders. One has to wonder about the mental stability of a political rally attendee that shouts out a death threat as a potential resolution to a political race. Sure we''re frustrated, but 3yr olds filter what comes out of their mouth-one assumes by adulthood that is mastered. How does demeaning a man somehow elevate the conversation or create a solution to our problems? Am I the only one or are there others out there that thinks the we are arguing about the stupidest things and wasting a lot of energy in the process?

Even Republicans are abandoning McCain. Former Republican Gov. William Milliken said "He is not the McCain I endorsed. He keeps saying, ''Who is Barack Obama?'' I would ask the question, ''Who is John McCain?'' because his campaign has become rather disappointing to me. I''m disappointed in the tenor and the personal attacks on the part of the McCain campaign, when he ought to be talking about the issues."

The problem is that McCain has nothing new to say about the issues, and Americans have had enough of Bush and Republican policies.

I am older, Caucasian woman who just read Rep. Lewis''s book about the Civil Rights Movement. Prior to reading it-most of what I knew of that time period was the watered down version I received in my schooling. I now believe Rep. Lewis''s account should be mandatory reading for those who want to gain a fuller understanding of our nation''s history, if for no other reason but to be introduced to a man that never compromised his values or morals, even when facing great odds and constant physical danger. Our nation owes him a large debt of gratitude.

It''s never easy for the citizens of the United States to be reminded of our failures as a nation...but if we are not mindful of the atmosphere and beliefs that gave rise to those failures, then we are doomed to repeat them. The common demoninator always seems to be power hungry leaders seeking to manipulate and control by using hateful, devisive speech that points out how we are different from each other rather than taking the high road and challenging us to find what we have in common and how we all benefit from peaceful co-existence. Angry men only seem to find angry solutions that can only be accomplished with force.

I commend Rep. Lewis for once again having the courage to challenge our nation to hold the mirror up and to once again ask us what we see in that reflection.

I was there in the 60''s, 14 years old, walking between my two big brothers, integrating an all-white Virginia school for the first time, surrounded by hatred and venom. But I felt safe. Watching a Palin/McCain rally is like dij` vu. I don''t watch. By the way, both of those big brothers went to Viet Nam too - both in combat units, one was wounded, they both went crazy. One is now dead (a suicide) the other one is one of those nameless, homeless people begging for change on street corners. Now I walk alone. John McCain was not the only Viet Nam Hero and he dishonors all of them with this shameful behavior. Obama/Biden 08

When Obama loses this election, prepare for a possible 0D1NGA-like "cleansing."

I think the VIOLENCE would be WORSE if he were elected and then disqualified.

''They [Obamas/Odingas] must be stopped.''--brigitte Gabriel

Who emailed and ADVISED the KENYAN PR1ME-MINISTER who used ETHN1C CLEANS1NG?

Which FAMOUS 1NDONESIAN is blood-related to BUSH and CHENEY?

Which foreign prince is also blood-related to OD1NGA.

He is LEGAL to be President of Kenya or Indonesia. But our forefathers specifically stipulate in the CONSTITUTION that NO FOREIGN PRINCE shall be President of the USA.

I voted for BOXER, FEINSTEIN, ESHOO, and they DIDN%u2019T LISTEN to their constituents. They did ACCEPT MONEY from the finance folks! FEINSTEIN tops the list.

These DEMs didn%u2019t listen to us; NOR WILL A FOREIGN PRINCE!
FEINSTEIN et al helped this Foreigner into office. TIME TO VOTE THEM ALL OUT!

Sarah Palin is Sarah Palin''s worst enemy

Now Senator Mccain wants to deregulate health insurance and privatize Social Security. Let''s continue where George Bush left off. Let''s totally deregulate everything, so everyone can lose everything they have saved for retirement over their business career.

Why don''t we even go into a depression?

It is time for real change and real leadership. It is time to fire the complete current administration and restore America''s reputation in the world community as an honest democratic society.

Sarah Palin is Sara Palin''s worst enemey

Didn''t Sarah Palin get a "D" in economics at one of the 6 colleges she attended? I think Republicans and Democrats are to blame for this economic mess. Deregulation has not only brought corruption to Wall Street, but to Main Street too. I was in the Mortgage Industry and saw how people who made $50,000 a year were getting loans for $500,000 homes. This went on for 5 years. Now the bubble has finally burst and John Mccain wants the taxpayer to pay for idiots like I mentioned above to help them keep their homes.

I don''t think Sarah Palin is as evil as our current Vice President, however she isn''t as smart as him either. I feel we need people who are brighter than the average joe to help get our country out of the economic mess that our current administration got us into.

Sarah Palin is Sarah Palin''s worst enemy

If you can''t win honestly, lets throw out a bunch of lies and scare America into voting Republican instead of showing that Republicans can be great leaders and solve tough problems that face our country today and in the future. Personally, I am interested in seeing someone who is brighter than the Average Joe six-pack in the Vice President''s slot, and someone who is not going to abuse their power as in the last administration.

Sarah Palin is Sarah Palin''s worst enemy

After one of Palin''s speeches, someone at the rally yelled, "Kill Him" (refering to Obama). This is Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie, and the 1950''s in Selma Alabama. Why don''t we go back to the 1950''s where Blacks were second class citizens. This is the same thing all over again. I agree with Georgia''s Congressman John Lewis who says, "Palin is sowing seeds of Hatred". Sarah Palin''s campaign is a mirror image of George Bush''s run for the presidency 8 years ago. As a matter of fact, many phrases that she says in her rallies are exact repeats of George Bush on the campaign trail eight years ago. Palin"s attacks on Barack Obama are more than disgusting. It is sad because America needs real leadership for the serious problems our country faces today. How can she stoop so low as to associate Mr. OBama with Terrorists? This is "guilt by association" point blank. The Republicans are looking for another "Bradley effect" to scare Americans into changing their opinions and voting Republican.

Sarah Palin is Sarah Palin''s worst enemy

The year is 2008 and we still have politicians who incite anger, angry mobs and racism with lies and distorting the truth. This toxic rhetoric is poisoning the minds of countless Americans. These idiots are running for the President and Vice President of the United States of America. Sarah Palin''s despicable attempt to fire up the Republican base has back-fired, and the numbers for Obama keep rising in the polls across the country.
