Democrat Candidate Says GOP Rival Is Riling Up Crowds And Stoking Anger
- McCain isn''t just "divisive", he''s got a split personality! In August, he called civil rights legend John Lewis one of the "three wisest people I know". Two months later he''s now asking Obama (who has no affiliation with Lewis) to denounce him?
That''s just crazy. - Reply to this comment
- DOUCMENTS AND VIDEO PROVE PALIN IGNORES SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE!!!! Sarah Palin''''''''s own records and video show her at her Wasilla Assemblies of God church promising church members that she will do all she can to inject God into the government. What the congregation and other taxpayers did not know--is that the plane trip, hotel and expenses to Wasilla were paid for by the taxpayer as Palin charged the entire trip to government expenses.
Wow, stay tuned Sarah--you are in the big leagues now--and you can''''''''t hide behind moose dressing or a misunderstanding--no respect for the law, no respect for the Constitution...when this is over, you may wish YOU were Bill Ayers.

I read the article. That''s not really what I had in mind. I was hoping for some official documents either from us or the VC. Indeed Col. Hackworth praises McCain as a "tough survivor" and, truth to tell, I don''t think I could survive the tender mercies of the Cong as well. Come to think of it, McCain''s conduct during this campaign is a very likely indicator he didn''t either. Oh, well.....

Wish I didn''t feel the neccessity. But here''s a sad truth: The rules of engagement in any conflict are set by the side with the least investment in ethics. I''ve seen some of these McCain/Palin rallies. They are some of the ugliest examples of pure generalized, ideologically based hatred I have ever seen. This is McCain''s power base. That and the religious right wing faction that thinks Palin is the greatest thing since stone tools. Together they don''t amount to much in terms of numbers, but with the economy tanking like it has, they take a political strength way beyond their numbers. I hope I am wrong but I think both are delibrately fanning the flames. If the McCain/Palin campaign can''t or won''t rein in the worst of their supporter''s excesses, then we have a right (nay, an obligation) to use whatever we can to put a spoke in their wheel. - Reply to this comment
- two weeks. The bashing has gone on for two weeks. mccain and palin have pulled out all the stops, incited lynch mobs and battered at Obama.
Two weeks....and Obama''s poll numbers are the HIGHEST of the campaign. that should tell them something...that America is rejecting them and their message of bigotry and hate.
But, no....just can''t listen, can they? TWO WEEKS OF HATE, BIGOTRY, ANGER, SMEARS, LIES, BASHING, INSULTS...EVEN THREATS....AND HERE ARE THE RECORD BREAKING POLLS....OBAMA HAS EVEN GAINED SOME REPUBLICAN SUPPORT.

Republican response ---
Former Republican Governor of Michigan William Milliken tells the Grand Rapids Press that he''''s "disappointed" in John McCain and the campaign he is running:
He endorsed John McCain in the presidential primary, but now former Republican Gov. William Milliken is expressing doubts about his party''''s nominee.
"He is not the McCain I endorsed," said Milliken, reached at his Traverse City home Thursday. "He keeps saying, ''''Who is Barack Obama?'''' I would ask the question, ''''Who is John McCain?'''' because his campaign has become rather disappointing to me.
"I''''m disappointed in the tenor and the personal attacks on the part of the McCain campaign, when he ought to be talking about the issues." - Reply to this comment
- Rep. LaHood, who has represented Illinois'' 18th district for seven terms and is retiring in January, told WBBM Radio that Palin should control the racially-charged heckling at her rallies:
John Weaver, John McCain''s former top strategist, says the Republican candidate is making both a moral and a a tactical mistake by letting abusive hecklers have free rein at rallies:
"People need to understand, for moral reasons and the protection of our civil society, the differences with Senator Obama are ideological, based on clear differences on policy and a lack of experience compared to Senator McCain," Weaver said. "And from a purely practical political vantage point, please find me a swing voter, an undecided independent, or a torn female voter that finds an angry mob mentality attractive." - Reply to this comment
- Gambi3, that should remind McCain and the Repukes that those who live in glass houses shouldn''t throw stones. Else, the completely repugnant person that McCain is would come to light and his Character exposed...well, he is doing a grand ole job of doing that now ain''t he? Well, well, well....

- Please don''t go there with John McCain''s POW story. Rise above that and honor the decency of Barack Obama he would never go there and his campaign followers should not. Take the high road and be better Americans. None of us would ever know what we would do when tortured, please don''t go there.

- LloydBest1: "the part about singing to the V.C. could be very useful to those of us who want to throw McCain under the bus."
For what it''s worth, from the Wiki article on McCain:
"In August 1968, a program of severe torture began on McCain. He was subjected to rope bindings and repeated beatings every two hours, at the same time as he was suffering from dysentery. Further injuries led to the beginning of a suicide attempt, stopped by guards. After four days, McCain made an anti-American propaganda "confession"."
Just have to say, though, attacking a guy on this is NOT, I think, what Obama would want. Past cowardly, vicious smear attacks against Kerry notwithstanding. McCain was against those attacks at the time, as I remember it. ''Course if I misremembered, take the shot.... - Reply to this comment

- Wow, Obama is calling Mccain divisive. How much better the world would be if Mccain held himself to the same standards. It just goes to show that Obama is a better man. He doesn''t have to call Mccain a "terrorist, "un-patriotic, not a real US citizen, Osama Mccain...hmm do I sense racism here?

- Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama have so much in common.
Jimmy was a visionary, the answer to everyone''s problems, he''d fix it, he was perfect, he sounded too good to be true, new on the scene, not much experience but it was time for change and he was the darling of the media: you get the picture. Jimmy changed things all right: double digit inflation, 13-14% mortgage interest rates, months of gasoline rationing, unbelieveable unemployment, factories closing, rolling electrical brownouts, people freezing to death because of no heating oil or its cost. Remember the humiliation of the Iran hostage crisis? For 444 days, that little country made us the laughing stock of the world and because of lack of helicopter parts, our brave servicemen, on a rescue mission, died in the desert. In a short time, no one, and I mean no one, would admit to having voted for Jimmy Carter. Let''s fast forward thirty years. Barack Obama is the clone of Jimmy Carter. Be careful what you wish for America. History does repeat itself and a year from now, will you admit you voted for Obama? - Reply to this comment
- The religious right showed their true religion. Divisive hate. Palin and her husband should be truthful about their ties with the AIP. Seceding from the United States is a sign of not being patriotic. If she had been truly vetted I doubt she ould be in the game. Maybe other Republican women didn''t want to be used and tied down with an ERRATIC,demented old man.

- "...Then, when handed the same treatment as every other POW he committed treason and spilled his guts to the VC. Upon returning home he committed adultry with a drug addicted bimbo then later married the ''''Barbie'''' for her daddy''''s money. John McCain is a punk and a traitor." Posted by iam4honesty at 06:32 PM : Oct 10, 2008
Not doubting you for a minute, but can you prove that? Are there unbiased articles from reputable media sources that can document McCain''s treachery while a captive?
I''m not particularly interested in his bimbo''s or the fact he married Cindy for her daddy''s money but the part about singing to the V.C. could be very useful to those of us who want to throw McCain under the bus.
If The Bush/Cheney axis can "swiftboat" Kerry with a bunch of bald faced lies then the least the Obama campaign can do is the same with McCain - providing what you said can be verified. - Reply to this comment
- Is Governor Palin a truly a born again christian? If she is then I''''d rather not be.is this how a true christians go about politics?.what happen to the christian mantra of being the light of the world? What happen to loving all men?.The governor has given this campaign a new overdrive, fuel only by raw hate and bigotry.i am ashamed of being a christian.
