John McCain was training in his AD-6 Skyraider on an overcast Texas morning in 1960 when he slammed into Corpus Christi Bay and sheared the skin off his plane''s wings.

McCain recounted the accident decades later in his autobiography. "The engine quit while I was practicing landings," he wrote. But an investigation board at the Naval Aviation Safety Center found no evidence of engine failure.

In his most serious lapse, McCain was "clowning" around in a Skyraider over southern Spain about December 1961 and flew into electrical wires, causing a blackout, according to McCain''s own account as well as those of naval officers and enlistees aboard the carrier Intrepid. In another incident, in 1965, McCain crashed a T-2 trainer jet in Virginia.

Examination of his record revealed a pilot who early in his career %u201Cwas cocky, occasionally cavalier and prone to testing limits.%u201D

McCain''s record stands out.

"Three mishaps are unusual," said Michael L. Barr, a former Air Force pilot with 137 combat missions in Vietnam and an internationally known aviation safety expert who teaches in USC''s Aviation Safety and Security Program. "After the third accident, you would say: Is there a trend here in terms of his flying skills and his judgment?"

This is awesome! McCain opened up the floodgates by trying to link Ayers to Obama. Now the Obama campaign is free to shoot back at McCain with the Keating 5 scandal.

Gee, I wonder what more Americans will be concerned with? A very vague association with a man who committed crimes when Obama was a child? Or the fact that McCain was part of one of the biggest finacial scandals ever. (McCain was known for accepting contributions from Charles Keating Jr., flying to the banker''s home in the Bahamas on company planes and taking up Keating''s cause with U.S. financial regulators as they investigated him.)

Well, we know where McCain was: Two from the bottom of the class.
Then he crashed 5 jets.
Then he confessed to his captors, did a radio Hanoi and Cuban radio broadcast, then failed at running the beer company, then Keating 5 then deregulation. How did that deregulation work for you by the way?

What we do know regardless of transcripts: He graduated and passed the bar exam.

Dean Bennet did a study on him and gee, people remembered him in college. I think he went.

It is interesting that the McCalin-Palin ticket is trying to smear Barack Obama now. Obama was eight years old when Ayers was active. Also, the news reported that Ayers was never convicted of anything and is now a college Professor.

I do recall that it was Senator McCain who came back from being a POW and dumped his crippled wife Carol, who had been a model before her horrible 1969 car accident. While stationed in Florida in 1976 he had extramarital affairs. He met Cindy McCain in April of 1979. He filed for divorce in January of 1980 and married Cindy McCain in May of 1980. Carol and John McCain had been good friends with Nancy and Ronald Reagan, which friendship cooled when they learned about Cindy. Read McCain''''s biography. It is all there on Wikipedia.
