First Presidential Debate Revealed Some New Dynamics With Familiar Results, Writes Vaughn Ververs
- Can anyone tell me why it seems the media and i mean all the media is so tilted in Obama''''s favor. It seems as if they are actially pulling for him.(And CBS is one of the worst ones).
There is a lot of guilt in the news media for letting Bush lie about getting into a war and not refuting it and saving this nation so much heartbreak.
That is my professional opinion. - Reply to this comment

Cuz the laborer can''t buy Congress... - Reply to this comment

There is the concept professed and championed by our Found Fathers called Corporate Charters. These Charters stated that should a corporation not act in the interest of The People, it would have its charter revoked. And since The People issued the charter, they had the power to KILL said Corporation.
I think you disagree with our Founding Fathers.

You''ve got it exactly backwards. Republicans are the party of free enterprise, which means low trade barriers. NAFTA may have been signed by Clinton, but its primary supporters were Republicans. In fact, even as a lib, I believe in Globalization. However, as with most Democrats, I believe government has an important role to play in trade, to protect people back home. Republicans push for low to no trade barriers, which DOES stimulate economies. Its just that, in this Brave new world we''ve entered in, we''re stimulating economies that are themselves highly protectionist, with the result that the American worker is getting the shaft. - Reply to this comment
- An OBAMA advisor LOL
And lastly, this article about Frank Raines (AKA fannie), in July 2008:
In the four years since he stepped down as Fannie Mae''s chief executive under the shadow of a $6.3 billion accounting scandal, Franklin D. Raines has been quietly constructing a new life for himself. He has shaved eight points off his golf handicap, taken a corner office in Steve Case''s D.C. conglomeration of finance, entertainment and health-care companies and more recently, taken calls from Barack Obama''s presidential campaign seeking his advice on mortgage and housing policy matters...When Daniel H. Mudd stepped in to succeed Raines after his ouster, Mudd promised a House committee that the days "of arrogant, defiant, ''my way'' Fannie Mae" would end. Congress has recently moved forward on legislation that would create stronger federal oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

If China and the rest of them send us $10 dollars worth of goods then we should send the same amount back. That would be fair trade then. - Reply to this comment

I''ve always said, Dems love the immigrant, but hate the immigration. Repubs hate the immigrant, but love the immigration! No one wants our southern border closed to tomorrows immigrants MORE than todays immigrants: they''re competing for the same JOBS! But what Republican factory owner wants to cut himself off from an inexhaustible supply of cheap labor? Follow the money, and its pretty clear WHO wants the borders closed, and WHO does not. - Reply to this comment

Corporations have been getting tax credits for sending jobs overseas since the Ford administration. The time has passed for such nonsense. Businesses that create a product, and employ people for it should get the only breaks. Making money with money shouldn''t be such a protected activity, it''s gambling, and should be taxed thoroughly. Productivity is our best strategy. If we can get energy independance at the same time, we will have a much stronger country. Enough of the "shovel-up econmics" experiment that the parasite neocons have used to break our financial backs.
America needs to be productive again. - Reply to this comment

If we keep the tax break, you are charging your children for your government services, to the tune of $10 trillion. When they cut taxes, but don''t cut spending, they DON''T cut taxes, they just roll their taxes onto the backs of the unborn and the young. As Obama explained last night: take consideration of the tax loopholes, and business in America pays some of the lowest taxes in the developed world. We have to deal with the $10 trillion Reagan/Bush debt somehow (as it is, you pay for that debt everytime you fill up at the gas station, due to the falling dollar). McCain said last night that he would drastically cut government spending, everywhere BUT the military-industrial-complex (which gets $500 billion a year, 40% more than they got in 2000). Honestly, if you prefer that, do it. Its about time Republicans took their ''small government'' platform past the ''talk'' stage. The fact that for 30 years, they have refused to ''walk the talk'' tells me that THAT alternative would be gruesome indeed. - Reply to this comment
- drill, drill, drill, bomb, bomb, bomb McCain would take whatever is left of our future and give it to his friends: Big Oil and the private contractors who are making a killing in Iraq. btw: Big Oil and Haliburton should pay for the bail out!
