Of course Republican are going to be blamed - after 7 years of out-of-control spending (make that borrowing), by the current administration - who was handed a surplus when it first took office - what do you expect??

If you want to fix the biggest problem - get the congress to accept TERM LIMITS. After 12 years of office they aren''t good for anyone but themselves - no matter what noble reason they went into public service in the first place. It shouldn''t be a career.

We have TERM LIMITS for the President (thank gawd), why not the legislators?

WOW ! Just like the WMD and Iraq !

We better do what GWB says or we are doomed ! ! !

And just like the WMD and Iraq mess congress and the press is going right along with it !

We could give GWB 1000 billion dollars and he would want more !

By the way, The US does not have 700 billion dollars.

Who are we going to borrow it from so we can bail out the Wall street fatcats ?

The New York Times from September 11, 2003.

The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago. . . .
The plan is an acknowledgment by the administration that oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- which together have issued more than $1.5 trillion in outstanding debt -- is broken. A report by outside investigators in July concluded that Freddie Mac manipulated its accounting to mislead investors, and critics have said Fannie Mae does not adequately hedge against rising interest rates.

Among the groups denouncing the proposal today were the National Association of Home Builders and Congressional Democrats who fear that tighter regulation of the companies could sharply reduce their commitment to financing low-income and affordable housing.

2 Chronicles 7:14)

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

"Remember Clinton was the one that signed up up for NAFTA. " [Posted by keystonebull]

Do you even know what it is?
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is a trilateral trade bloc in North America created by the governments of the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

What is your point?

Bush said NOTHING about the Roots of the Problem of the Economic Issues. He said nothing about Uncontrolled spending by His Administration for 6 years.

Now George W Douschebag screams "RED ALERT" GIVE ME ANONTHER BLANK CHECK. everybody knows what George W Bush and his Administration did with 6 years of blank checks in Iraq. Muiti-Millions of Dollars just vanish. Sorry George this time there is going to be Oversite and Accounting for all this money.

Your "RED ALERT" / "PANIC" BUTTON does not work any more George.

Maybe if you raise the Terror Alert to Red or Flasning Red somebody might jump.

Geo. W. Bush should be ashamed to show his face to the American public
Posted by oleander8 at 09:48 AM : Sep 25, 2008

I don''t think he is going to be ashamed. In his eyes, we are just like Katrina victims were for his mother who said following words regarding Katrina victims;
"Those people were under-priviliged any way!"

The president made a mistake in his address, referring to Fannie and Freddie as purchasers of MBS when they are, in fact, sellers of MBS.

The entire government is posturing to make the American Public believe that they can, when a national disaster calls for it, act in a bi-partisan like manner. What is left to speculation is whether what they are all rushing to do is anything more than an effort to save their own political skins.

Look what all the educated fools have done to our country.I said after Nafta we were headed for third world status. Bush pushed it faster than I expected. The last time we heard a sale pitch like this I think it was about some country called Iraq. Anything the scrub bush is for, I am against. Let the chips fall where they may.

Geo. W. Bush should be ashamed to show his face to the American public - Cheney has sure made himself scarce. Boy, they''re going out with a BANG aren''t they? With a farewell welfare check to their buddies. What has alway been the mantra of the Republicans? "Too much goverment in our lives"? Yeah, except when it benefits big-business, and big money. Disgusting people - they would be stoned in a third world country - and that''s where we are headed.
