So in essence you were born on third base and are bragging that you hit a triple?

Taxes should be fair. 20% taxes for EVERYONE. That will provide the highest incentive to get a good job, not a minimum wage job.

Instead of whining to others for help, accept what you have been given. If you want more money, earn it.

Written like a true compassionate conservative. Here''s a news flash, not everyone is equal in ability. SOme people don''t have the mental capacity to be a doctor or Pharmacist. They used to be able to get a good paying repetative job to provide for their fanily but those are gone. A flat tax is NOT a fair tax to everyone, although it sounds great. Again a person making 20,000 pays 20% for take home of 18,000 to take care of their family verse a 250,000 taking home 200,000. That is not a fair tax system. Not to mention the loop holes the higher income person can use to pay even less tax like 401K, education, IRA, etc. The smuck making 20,000 doesn''t get to use them because they are using all of their income just to survive and pray they don''t have a medical issue. Then at retirement, you compassionate people want to pull out social security. Good, sound Christian beliefs.

indivthinker, do you have an opinion why your former governor has done as little as possible, as President, to prevent Mexicans from illegally crossing the border into Texas and becoming these people you speak of?

This has little to do with illegals. They make up a small portion of the problem. The problem comes from all minorities and some whites that sit on their behinds.

And while you are on the subject, no, I did not vote for Bush. I was too young to vote for him in 2000 (even though I would have), and in 2004 I voted for Kerry.

And in response to your attacks, immigration is getting MUCH better. Government raids have forced hundreds of thousands of illegals to run back to Mexico. Towns here in Texas had stood up and voted in anti-illegal policies.

Yet it is the liberals that believe in giving education, healthcare, driver''s licenses, etc to illegals. It is people like them that complain about a fence, crackdowns, and enforcing the law.

" 90% of the people on Medicaid (free gov handout) are minorities, the biggest block of Democrats in the South. The largest chunk of poverty and joblessness in Texas come from Hispanics and African Americans. It is not my fault that they have five kids. It is not my fault that they have no education or healthcare. It is a person''''s responsibility, not another''''s responsibility, to provide for yourself and your families."Posted by indivthinker at 04:13 PM : Sep 18, 2008
As a fellow Texan we rank highest in number of uninsured, highest in number of children living in poverty , 47th in education. Republicans have been running the state for 14 yrs. They have inflicted GW on the rest of the country. They belong to a party that is not only against reproductive choice , hence the five kids, but against legal contraceptive means. If we had national health care, if we had a better educational system , if we didn''t have pharmacists wanting protection so they don''t have to dispense legal contraceptives even if a customer has a legal prescription , If we didn''t have Mr .good hair perry and the republican good old boys(Bob Perry , James leininger ) and a corrupt speaker of the house ,Tom Craddick, perhaps things would improve in Tx more to your liking. But I doubt it because they are your party .

But is that the rich person''s fault that you make $20k? No, that is your fault and your responsibility to get an education, get a job, and provide for your family. Why should someone have to pay a higher share of his paycheck so that you can have healthcare, education, social security, etc?

Taxes should be fair. 20% taxes for EVERYONE. That will provide the highest incentive to get a good job, not a minimum wage job.

My brother makes $10 an hour, and he is dirt poor. My parents, on the other hand, make $200k a year together. Yet my brother does not demand that my parents pay MORE taxes to the government just so he can have that distributed to him. He doesn''t make others pay for his failure (or his inability to succeed). No, he accepts his responsibility for his failure to get a good job. He is looking for a better job, and he is currently in college night classes trying to get a degree.

Instead of whining to others for help, accept what you have been given. If you want more money, earn it.

If you voted for him for President or for Governor of Texas can we consider you partially responsible for this problem?

Socialism is capitalism for the poor.

I have read comments that say that red states take the most from welfare, so people tie that to Republicans taking more. WRONG. I live here in Texas, and I work in pharmacy. 90% of the people on Medicaid (free gov handout) are minorities, the biggest block of Democrats in the South. The largest chunk of poverty and joblessness in Texas come from Hispanics and African Americans.

It isn''t hicks or rednecks in the South that are soaking up welfare. It''s the Democratic leaning minorities that take the most. They paid little to nothing in taxes, then they DEMAND that they receive education for their five children. The mothers stay home with their five kids while the father works a minimum wage job. No wonder they are poor.

Yet that is not my problem or the upper class'' problem that they don''t have money for their kids. It is not my fault that they have five kids. It is not my fault that they have no education or healthcare. It is a person''s responsibility, not another''s responsibility, to provide for yourself and your families.

Asking those who make money and have successful careers to subsidize your failings is wrong and not fair.

I get so tired of people arguing they pay their fair share already. If you make 20,000 a year and pay say 15%, your take home is 17,000. A small amount to live on with a family. Compare that to someone making 250,000 paying say 34%, which gives them takehome of 165,000. Much easier to live on that.

Two things common with the Rich:
One: They give no credit to the country that they got rich in, the USA.
Two: They whine more about how they are treated by their government than the middle class or the poor.
