Comments on: Biden: Paying Higher Taxes Is "Patriotic"
Democratic VP Nominee Says Wealthier Americans Should Pay More In Taxes
- The problem, Mr. Biden, is that after you raise our taxes, you all get together and vote yourselves in a nice plump pay raise. So, you''re saying that us giving you a raise is patriotism?
Man, the leftists deserve what they get if they vote you two incomps in. - Reply to this comment
- I don''t think raising taxes for anyone is right. Congress has created a mess. Congress must decide which programs now are to be cut because there is no money. No more pork, it''s time to eliminate projects until they can be afforded. No more bailouts. It''s time for business to stand on their own or fall, just like the common person. It''s time to stop giving billions of money we don''t have to foreign aid. It time we start building our own strength back up. It''s long past time to stop selling America. The time has come to stop worrying about everyone else. Let''s get our own house in order.

- The Dept. of Education is another bottomless pit. It''s the perfect example of how govt. screws things up.

- I''m voting democrat, but I have to admit that politically-speaking, this was a DUMB thing for Biden to say.. God knows that by tonight there will be a RNC advertisement, heavily cut-and-edited, showing this remark out of context.
He meant that the wealthy 1% have been enjoying too many tax breaks.. Please: do you guys think that repealing the Bush tax cuts is really gonna send those rich 1% to the poor house? C''mon. You exaggerate waaay too much. It''s not a big deal.
ANYWAY: how the hell are we going to pay for this war? and Social Security? and The bank bailouts?? Huh?

- As money man Crammer said yesterday..." We are now all Communist". With the public ownership of companies, I guess the neocon''s are getting their way. Elect McCain and we will all be walking lockstep in the streets in a few years.I wonder how Palin will look in military fatigues?

- But the CEOs are getting there''s right now. The rest of us aren''t affected that much but we need to learn the hard way to hunker down, pay off debt, and be cautious where we put our money. FDIC was ignored up until about month ago.

Brilliant."
I remember with I was a teenager reading the local newspaper in Southern California of voters irritated with the High Salaries of the Administrators in the School District. Forget about the fact that the school was turning out outstanding students to the local Universities.
Guess what happened after 2 decades of Tax Cuts. There is no money for teachers whom are getting paid less and less if not laid off. Parents have to pay for the classroom materials, etc.
However, the Salaries of the Administrators in the School District continues to be high.
WHY? Because the Salary of the Administrators must be high to Stay Competitive with the Private sector. Otherwise, the administrator just quits.
Cut Taxes to reduce salaries does not work in the long run. These public salaries must stay competitive with the Private sector.
It only ones who lose are Students, Parents and Teachers. - Reply to this comment
- this is exactly what needs to be done. We need to use the tax monies to create alternative energy and mass transit infrastructure creating high paying jobs that gets the money into the workers hands.
The only way this economy and this country gets any bettewr is to get the money into the workers hands. THE ONLY WAY !!!!!!!
Years of passing off health care costs on workers. Stagnate wages that do not keep pace with inflation, and offloadingjobs is a HUGE reason why this country is circling the toilet.
The welathy / Corproations / Wallstrret have continually taken for themselves, and look where we are....
Put the money back into the hands of the workers and the money WILL TRICKLE UP AND EVERYONE WILL BE HAPPIER.
If anyone actually tries to argue these facts they are the problem. Bottom line is it is the wealthy who have become too greedy and are destroying America . They''ve shipped out jobs overseason for more profits. They cancelled out pension plans for more profits, they make sure we are paying more andmore of our healthcare so they can show wallstreet more profits.
At some point chasing profits doesn''t make for a nice society - Reply to this comment
- STANDLEE"It has nothing to do with Republian policy since Dems and Repubs have supported what''''s happening now"
I disagree, though its true both sides are at least somewhat to blame, in general it ''s fair to say that conservatives believe "the less regulation the better" across the board. While i am no socialist,ve this is crazy. We must balance free enterprise with controls to maintain solvency.. It''s no secret that most CEO''s of major corps are republicans..
