John McCain was named as a co-conspirator in the embarrassing Keating Five scandal in which he and four other Senators provided routine help to Charles Keating, who was secretly manipulating savings and loan banks. The Senate ethics committee''''s special counsel criticized him and three others for "questionable conduct." for enticing federal regulators to look the other way on Keating%u2019s dealings.

Well his whole history in congress has been to do whatever he could to remove any regulations or do what is necessary to allow these Banks to do as they wish. He was brought to task on the Savings and Loan Scandal and here he is, up to his eyes in yet another Lending Meltdown. The guy just can''t tell the truth and is so greedy it''s unbelievable.

I was one of the marketeers who was recruited to push loans by Country Wide and Washington Mutual.

Most people I gave the sales pitch to were cautious and quite reasonable. However, the fault was in the lenders'' crazy math and forecasts.

They expected the price of real estate to go up, not down. Most homeowners took the loans on that expectation. But when the real estate market prices tanked, homeowners were left with negative equity. Its not their fault.

Bankers are to be blamed, they were greedy and many made billions on this premise. Free market rules should apply, they should go bankrupt or merge. With billions in savings they can afford to start over. Simple as that.

Time to panic? Actually, it%u2019s really not
The economy isn%u2019t the problem, it%u2019s stupid banks making stupider loans

There is not enough room on page one of the nation''s newspapers for all of this week''s news. Any of the major business stories %u2014 the Lehman bankruptcy, a sale of Merrill Lynch, AIG capital needs, plummeting oil prices or new Fed lending facilities %u2014 could be above-the-fold headline news.
The U.S. is moving through its deepest set of financial market difficulties since the banking and savings and loan crises of the 1980s and 1990s.
The key thing to remember here is that the emphasis belongs on the word financial. The economy is not the problem; lousy lending standards and the excessive use of leverage are the problem. Gales of punitive destruction are knocking down one investment bank after another, while gales of creative destruction continue to move the economy forward. In fact, real gross domestic product (GDP) has grown 2.2 percent in the past year and accelerated to a 3.3 percent growth rate in the second quarter.

Obama is history. At one time Obama lead big in all of these states but look at it now! The election will hinge on Florida and Ohio and McCain has taken the lead in both. Pennsylvania I believe will also in the end fall to McCain. That will only be icing on the cake. The Democrats (Obama) had this election in the bag and they blew it big time. If he had only picked Clinton you would not have the Palin effect that we are seeing.

And by the way, they started handing out those loans during the Clinton years, lol

Posted by StormeyOne at 09:38 AM : Sep 17, 2008

Now everyone knows you lack the basic intelligence to understand to much so I''ll try to use small words. It wasn''t the LOANS that is the problem... it''s the fact that the Lending Institutions were allowed to give out loans that they would NOT have been able to do IF the REGULATIONS our fathers put in place had remained. You see McSlime and his Pal''s, BUSH and DR. PHIL... THEY wanted those regulations removed so?? They had the lobbyist for the Banks write a Law, Gramn-Leach-Bliley Act, that removed ALL the regulations and those people could THEN just go wild with any and all loans they wanted. THUS we have the complete and total melt down. That happened in 2000 if you care to look it up. LOL

With that said , Has the BIGGEST CON ARTISTS (the NEO-CONS) in the History of the US NOW turning the USA into the USSA?? (United Socialist States of America)

Anyone out there want to lay bets on WHICH "Capitalist Corporation" will be "NATIONALIZED" NEXT??

The MONOPOLY MONEY based on Bush''s and McCain''s ESTIMATE of the VALUE (McCain''s greed fundamentals) of FUTURE SLAVE LABOR of the TAXPAYER is WORTHLESS unless you actually believe like McCain that the TAXPAYER will be MEEK SHEEP working for NOTHING to pay off the NEO-CON 8 year FRAT PARTY!!

IS ANYONE ELSE ROTFL over the ULTIMATE IRONY that the CONS are the ones that will force this Nation into Socialism through National Bankruptcy??
THEY thought they could set up personal CORPO-FEUDAL STATES until the MONEY RUNS OUT -then "CUT AND RUN" to their "vacation homes in countries that DON''T have extradition (ex: Haliburton to the ME)!

Sorry, but I''''ll support the candidate, John McCain, who''''s actually DONE SOMETHING in his career rather than just scam elections.

You people will support some numb nut whack job Marxist who makes you feel good with some ***** about re-distributing the wealth! When he has NO intention of doing so.

AGAIN! NOBODY pushed those people into signing those mortgages! They were stupid and greedy trying to buy houses they KNEW they couldn''''t afford!

AGAIN, what idiot would sign a loan whose payment had the potential to double in two years when they KNEW their salary wouldn''''t!

What idiot would run up their credit card debt and take out an equity loan against their home and lose everything they''''ve got in it because of their GREED! And then put themselves totally at the end of the rope financially!

Seems like nobody twisted those people''''s arms to sign those loans...they were stupid...why didn''''t they say no way, and go buy a different house.

NO, they had to have THAT HOUSE! And they didn''''t care how they got it.

True true, but the point is that those people are having to file for bankruptcy and are being punished for that poor decision. From the headlines today, we (the taxpayer) are having to provide bailouts to the FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS who made these bad loans. Now if I have to pay for their fvckup, I want to regulate their sorry butts because the CEO''s are getting filthy rich and suffering NO,NOTTA,ZILTCH for their mismanagement.
