Comments on: Obama, McCain Mark 9/11 At Ground Zero
Candidates Also Appear Together At Presidential Forum On Service As Politics Put On Hold
- The Iraq war has been financed entirely on credit; and partly because of that, the US national debt has increased by two-thirds in just eight years.
But things keep getting worse: the deficit for 2009 alone is expected to be more than a half-trillion dollars, excluding the costs of financial bail-outs and the second stimulus package that almost all economists now say is urgently needed. The war, and the way it has been conducted, has reduced America''s economic options and will deepen and prolong the economic downturn.
Bush has clearly USED the 9-11 tragedy, and its victims, to make a bid for oil hegemony in the Middle-East. Thats immoral, and is likely something McSame will continue. - Reply to this comment
- So let me get this straight. McCain goes to Pennsylvania to be with the families of Flight 93 and Obama goes to be with Bill Clinton. This guy just doesn''t get it. He can''t take one day off to do the right thing.

- Central Asian oil, through Afghanistan to Pakistani Ports, to refineries in Saudi Arabia.
Control of that oil route is also why the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in the 1970s.

- 15 of the 19 bombers on 911 were from Saudi Arabia. We should have attacked that country without trying to rebuild a government. We should have told them we''re in charge, and we''ll do things are way. Bush lied, and people died. Iraq had no presence of Al Quaida until after the U.S. invaded. The invasion led to a ten fold increase in the number of individuals who considered themselves Al Quaida memebers.

- Most analysts agree that at least part of the rationale behind Russia''s invasion of Georgia, reigniting fears of a new Cold War, was its confidence that, with America''s armed forces pre-occupied with two failing wars, there was little America could do in response. Russia''s calculations proved correct.
