Comments on: Obama Rebukes Palin On Earmarks Claims
Democratic Nominee Says Palin Took Earmarks When "Convenient"
- Bush is a liberal. for example, he increased the size of government and started a war, both are liberal traditions practiced by every liberal president from Clinton to Johnson to FDR to Woodrow Wilson. The absolute most predictable essence of liberalism is to start wars and increase the size of government.
That is why the media created and protected Bush. He was the biggest liberal Washington has seen in many years. Is abortion still mandated by the Supreme Court? YOU BET. Bush made *** sure of that. His picks for the Supreme Court were in fact closet liberals, not a one is an actual constructionist. Bush carried the water for the worst, big-government liberals and betrayed his voters.
We''ll see if McCain does the same. - Reply to this comment
- There are a lot of you who really really really think the media is liberal. We would not have Bush. We would not have had the persecution of Clinton. We would not have had the band playing for the war mongering Bush War. We would not have had all the talking heads saying positive things about McCain like he is a Maverick. You would not have talking heads not mentioning many of McCain''s worst mistakes. When real reporting takes place and shines a light on the truth, you are right it is a media that is liberal. Liberal means the Truth. Conservative means hateful, mean, lying, and smearing for the party they back.

- Palin cut funding for special needs children 60%. Woopsy, I guess she didn''''t figure she would have a downs syndrome baby.

--------
Actually, it was a 62% cut in funding for special needs kids.
Palin is such a lying sack of sh*t. And one who cravenly uses her own kid for political gain. Let''s se if she reverses herself and funds special needs kids NOW that she has one! Place your bets! - Reply to this comment
- The Right Wing controlled media buries Palin lies.
There is no "leftist media. They are all owned by Republicans.
It is time to realize that we are being manipulated. No- not wholesale manipulation, but subtle manipulation that pushes the public only a few percentage points one way or another. All it takes is something like this- holding off or minimizing a story that would have a significant impact. - Reply to this comment
- Palin cut funding for special needs children 60%. Woopsy, I guess she didn''t figure she would have a downs syndrome baby. She thinks this Iraq War is a war for God. Actually it is a war for the gods of Bush and Cheney - greed, corruption, wickedness, occupation, and oil, oil, oil. Republicans value these gods and think all they need to do is talk about abortion and *** so they can continue on their profiteering way. We have a country in crisis and it will not get better until we have leadership that solves problems and any crisis istead of making them. Anyone who thinks the disfunctional Palin family adds anything of value to McCain are dreaming. It may warm the hearts of the corrupt right wing so-called christians, but not real Christians.

- The biggest project that Sarah Palin undertook as mayor of this small town was an indoor sports complex, where locals played hockey, soccer, and basketball, especially during the long, dark Alaskan winters.
The only catch was that the city began building roads and installing utilities for the project before it had unchallenged title to the land. The misstep led to years of litigation and at least $1.3 million in extra costs for a small municipality with a small budget. What was to be Ms. Palin''s legacy has turned into a financial mess that continues to plague Wasilla...
"I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities," Ms. Palin said Wednesday in her acceptance speech at the Republican convention. Litigation resulting from the dispute over Ms. Palin''s sports-complex project is still in the courts, with the land''s former owner seeking hundreds of thousands of additional dollars from the city. - Reply to this comment

- Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) received a score of 100* percent and has a lifetime rating of 88, has never requested nor received a single earmark, and has pledged to veto any spending bill that contains any earmarks.

Oh, really. How about: In 2006, he teamed up with fellow Arizona senator Jon Kyl (R) to funnel $10 million toward the University of Arizona for an academic center named after Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist. Even Arizona lawmaker, Rep. Jeff Flake (R), said he was planning to %u201Clean against the measure.%u201D The National Taxpayers Union, another traditional McCain ally, questioned why the senator was making federal taxpayers foot the bill for the center. - Reply to this comment

- Folks, since the McCain campaign is ''dummying up'' on us about Sarah Palin---with good reason! It means, you''re going to have to spend a few minutes of your own time to find out about her! Really, this isn''t too difficult!
Go to: www.sarahpalinexposed.com and look at the material on the site.
When you''re done, ask yourself if you REALLY think she''d be a good VP and possible president some day?!

- To those making serious statements provide references to backup their position. This will help reduce "noise" and conserve bandwidth. Thanks everyone for sharing your views. Its important we hear all sides before reaching a conclusion.
"In medio stat virtus" - virtue stands in the middle. Any time things go too far to the right (as we now have with unregulated free markets, wealth inequality, and hegemonism) we the stakeholders have to bring the pendulum back to the center. Obama is part of the checks and balances that will correct this out of balance situation caused by the ruling party of the last 8 years. After Obama has served his term if things have gone too far to the left, you can be sure the people will bring back the Republications. That is the nature of true, working democracies. - Reply to this comment

I see that the only references for your quote are from other blogs without any original citations. A quote from Mickey Mouse would be more valid than this. - Reply to this comment
- Sarah Palin is a pathological liar in the mold of George W. Bush. Anyone who has studied an analysis of the factual assertions made in Palin''s acceptance speech will reach such a conclusion, if they''re honest with themselves. Of course, this excludes conservatives, who couldn''t tell the truth if their lives depended on it. Obama/Biden 2008!!!

- MCVET ...
Obviously you are a very dimented child who LOVES Hitler and espouses the nazi hatred

Actually, dowjones, if you were an older, well-read, person you would understand. You obviously are very young, and just do not know the blind-following of fascism.
Fascism literally means "facile %u2013 a gathering of sticks.%u201D It refers to the union of two opposite sticks, in our case corporatism and government, to bond into one defining force which is not for the common good.
McVet is really a VNvet %u2013 are YOU? No, I did not think so. Nor is anyone in your family.
My father and mother are WWII vets %u2013 so the Sieg Heil reference means something. It means hail victory, and, in the reference of Hitler, means Blind Allegiance, even in the face of common sense.
Now, my recommendation to you, since I am an old engineer Mom, is to read the following books, so you have an understanding of McVet%u2019s references: Hitler%u2019s Willing Executioners, Inside the Third Reich, The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, and Mein Kampf so you have a better understanding about history and the uninformed place you reside.
Oh, and by the way %u2013 When is Mrs. Palin going to go on Meet the Press and Face the Nation? Or are you and Palin%u2019s followers just doing a Sieg Heil blind allegiance without really understanding what you are voting for? - Reply to this comment

As it happens, Obama does have substantive legislative achievements. A few highlights, all of which became law:
* Ethics Reform: Obama was the Senate''s point person on ethics reform, and sponsored or co-sponsored the bills that made up what the Washington Post called "the strongest ethics legislation to emerge from Congress yet."

- I just heard some guy say on national talk shows that the more the liberal media criticizes Sarah Palin, the more it will help her. I believe that also. Also McCain has went ahead in the polls.
