The Lugar-Obama initiative to strengthen the Nunn-Luger framework for securing loose nukes, and to extend it to securing and destroying stockpiles of conventional arms. (For instance, shoulder-fired missiles that could be used against passenger airlines, fired at our forces, or used to make any number of ongoing conflicts more deadly.)

+ report

How does securing loose nukes have anything to do with Bi paritsim ship. Please let me know who was against securing of Nukes before you hold it up as a major Obama example of Bi partisinship.

I mean thats great, we should secure loose nukes but thats like saying he is a canidate for chage because he supports a recycling bill or something. everyone knows we should secure loose nukes, just like everyone knows we should recycle so please explain to me how this is relevant to being president.

What is relevent to being president and or VP is McCain constatnly breaking against the GOP and Palin getting half of the republican party in Alaska in trouble for Corruption. Those are true change mavericks!!! Not just speakes

* Ethics Reform: Obama was the Senate''''s point person on ethics reform, and sponsored or co-sponsored the bills that made up what the Washington Post called "the strongest ethics legislation to emerge from Congress yet."

The Ethics was supportered by almost everyone in the senate. He did not have to step on any toes or make any in his own party mad to acheive this

If anyone finds anything Obama has accomplished please let us know.

As it happens, Obama does have substantive legislative achievements. A few highlights, all of which became law:

* Ethics Reform: Obama was the Senate''s point person on ethics reform, and sponsored or co-sponsored the bills that made up what the Washington Post called "the strongest ethics legislation to emerge from Congress yet."

More Obama legislative achievements (see my message at 2:55pm):

* The Lugar-Obama initiative to strengthen the Nunn-Luger framework for securing loose nukes, and to extend it to securing and destroying stockpiles of conventional arms. (For instance, shoulder-fired missiles that could be used against passenger airlines, fired at our forces, or used to make any number of ongoing conflicts more deadly.)

* Various bills concerning the response to Hurricane Katrina, including an amendment putting strict limits on the use of no-bid contracts after disasters, requiring planning for the evacuation of people with special needs and senior citizens, creating a National Emergency Family Locator System, etc.

"""She never got the funding for the bridge.."""??? SAYS CWAZYWABT.
YES she did get the funding for the bridge. She kept all the money for the bridge including for the access road. She didn''t use it to build the bridge, after that became unpopular and more expensive, even after she had promised it to Ketchikan in 2006, campaigning for Governor.

She KEPT the money and spent it on OTHER projects.

jackDems2....Don''t you mean lie a little harder? As of this point Saint Sarah has not been asked any questions as her handlers rush to prepare her to face the media. As of this time she has been nailed in several lies but they are just the tip of the iceburg. Once the truth starts to come out she will be seen as what she really is...a bible thumping hillbilly who doesn''t have a clue. Right now she is riding on the BS from the republican party but it won''t last long. So enjoy your fantasy girl while you can. She''ll soon be history.

SharnCedar....You really need to pick up a remedial class in history. You are totally clueless and your comments are total *****. I''m not even going to try to correct you since it would just be an exercise in futility but you are way off base. Better do some fact checking sparky.

terrorislam.....Are you still here? You have lied so much that I thought maybe they had banned you from posting. I haven''t read one single post from you that is verifiable from a reputable source. You post ***** and then if you do post a source it''s always some extreme right wing whacko site that has zero credibility. Are you actually stupid enough to believe that if Obama were a dope using gay it wouldn''t have come out by now? If he were using drugs there is no way that his handlers could keep him in shape to keep up with the kind of schedule he has. Come on dummy, get a life. Stop insulting our intelligence.

boycotchina....Woah there sparky, relax. There''s no need to scream at us. So you are going to vote for McCain...big deal, go ahead. If you are happy with the direction the country is going and you don''t mind a little war here and there, go ahead. We can win without your 6 little votes. But you need to take a good look at Saint Sarah before you jump. This woman is a liar and will say or do whatever it takes to win. She is NOT another Hillary as you seem to think. In fact, she is the direct opposite of everything that Hillary stands for. Keep in mind that McCain has had serious health problems and is 72 years old. Remember that if something happens to him she will be the most powerful person on Earth and do you really, really believe in your heart of hearts that she is ready to take on that responsibility? Think before you start screaming and look hard at the facts. Try to ignore all the BS and look at the FACTS.

What a hypocrite! I believed in Senator Obama! My six voting members of my democratic party family believed in Obama. Four of my family members are females and devoted supporters of Senator Clinton. We all thought that he was going to be the change that this country needed. I was so pysched up for my democratic convention, but Obama picked Biden, who is not a change but one of the big problems. Now look at Senator McCain who picked an outsider, and most of all, a hard working professional woman who believes in America. I may not agree with everything that Senator McCain stands for, but he''s a better choice that wishy-washy, back-sliding, bend at every blow of the wind, change your stance, and big time HYPOCRITE OBAMA! HE REALLY LET US DOWN! WHAT OTHER LIES IS HE GOING TO SPREAD NOW? HE PROMISED CHANGE, BUT WHO REALLY LOOKED OUT OF THE BOX? SENATOR CLINTON DEMOCRATS FOR CHANGE AND FOR SENATOR MCCAIN!

Sarah Palin has a history in Alaska politics, and, if elected, expect more of the same. Inform yourselves! This is a must-read: http://community.adn.com/adn/node/130537

actornaught, Great you understood the picture--now try reading the entire article--not just your focus!

I tried to help you out. Okay, in addition to this article pointing out ''con hypocrisy, Palin lying about being anti-earmark, it''s also about Addled John being as confused as you. Both of you want to alter the focus of Obama''s criticism of hypocrisy into a criticism of earmarks.

Bush is a liberal. for example, he increased the size of government and started a war, both are liberal traditions practiced by every liberal president from Clinton to Johnson to FDR to Woodrow Wilson. The absolute most predictable essence of liberalism is to start wars and increase the size of government.

That is why the media created and protected Bush. He was the biggest liberal Washington has seen in many years. Is abortion still mandated by the Supreme Court? YOU BET. Bush made *** sure of that. His picks for the Supreme Court were in fact closet liberals, not a one is an actual constructionist. Bush carried the water for the worst, big-government liberals and betrayed his voters.

We''''ll see if McCain does the same.

You don''t change things in the government when there are as many republicans as democrats in the Senate and the president is George Bush. With the 90 filibusters of Senate republicans and the many, many vetos of George Bush you bet there were no improvements. Republicans made sure that no good was accomplished.
