As a Republican, I am very nervous and feel Mccain needs to stick on the issues and keep away the negative attacks else, I will just stay way from politics until after the elections.
Honestly, there is not pick without a baggage but I think Obama''s pick is the best amongst the lot. I am sorry to say this but it is. Anybody who says the contrary is not truthful to himself and his concience.

"Find out how many Canadians Die because they dont have American Health Care." Posted by jackDems at 08:22 PM : Aug 23, 2008

EVERY SINGLE CANADIAN has health care. And we all have the BEST care. How many Americans are without health care? I can assure you that there are more Americans dying than Canadians. And please don''t give me c-r-a-p on the "waits". I know of no one that has had long waits to see specialists or surgeries. And if it is life or death, you are seen to immediately.

I certainly am also. But first I want to know what kind of health care I''''m going to get with a universal health plan. Not just some vague idea that health care is going to be provided.

And clear air also, but how are you going to enforce it?

Yesterday the elitist advocate with a two year Harvard background that has made him an academia elitist when asked by Natalia, a 7 year old girl "why did you start running for president". Other candidates would have said something like America is the greatest country on this earth or maybe he is proud to be a member of a country where for the first time in our proud history that a black American could run for president.
Instead after hesitating to answer and his normal stutters when he is not behind his cue cards or prepared speech, Sen. Barack Obama said, "America is no longer what it could be, what it once was". When one considers his wife Michelle that said for the first time she is proud of being an American and Obama''s statement pertaining to mid-Americans being bitter and countless other hateful anti-American statements, one has to wonder where why this man is a presidential candidate. Why is he, Obama so bitter when any other minority member would do anything to have been given the life that Obama takes for granted and resents so easily.

I guess since this Washington politician and those like his close elitist friend House Speaker Pelosi that have lived a privileged life should think of how lucky that they did not have to serve their country in harm''s way and in uniform like many of us

At least twice in this story and also in this evening newscast, CBS reporting of the news includes quoting other members of its own news staff. I think this is very questionable form for professional journalists to make the news instead of reporting it. I don''t want to hear about Obama''s pick for VP like commentary in a sports game. His action is not a volley that has to reported in context of a volley from the McCain campaign. Just give us the facts above and separated clearly from your own opinions and speculations. That''s your patriotic job as journalists.

I''m just curious. We need:

Health care...

We need new bridges, roads...

We need to take care of the aged, and infirm...

But mostly what we need is JOBS so we have the ability to participate in funding the government...

So who''s going to pay our wages and provide us with jobs?

But, since all the money we are spending in Iraq is borrowed money, there will be no money to save.

We can just stop borrowing so much.

That''s kind of my point! But a cessation of borrowing does NOT generate income.

How are you going to create jobs with money saved from Iraq?
Posted by WellHell3 at 07:14 PM : Aug 23, 2008

We have a multitude of unmet needs in this country. Healthcare, investment in green technology, rebuilding and upkeep of hard infrastructure to name a few.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Posted by jon2012 at 07:18 PM : Aug 23, 2008

The government cannot afford to pay healthcare for 301,621,157 people! It NOT free!

Nor is green technology! Without rich investors green technology will never be available. Development is EXTRA resources. We still have to survive during development.

Infrastructure, please explain.

Jon, I would agree with you if the money was remaining in the US but it isn''''t.

It is like a thermo problem where the energy leaves the box. If it leaves the box it is gone forever...... That will mean to us that we will have less wealth to build on in future years and America will have slower growth. Same thing happened to UK until they found oil.
Posted by donbl1 at 07:16 PM : Aug 23, 2008

The money is spent in exchange for oil and oil powers our economy so the money doesn''t just leave without something of value left in its place. The economy in turns produces goods and services.

And I ask it, because it seems that any money saved from not having war in Iraq...should be going to pay off the debt we have already accrued against it. And I don''''t consider it to be money we have to invest in something else.
Posted by WellHell3 at 07:17 PM : Aug 23, 2008

Of course, we can always use the money to pay off the national debt, if nothing else. But spending it in Iraq as I have stated does not offer any productive return that will benefit the U.S. specifically that Bush has articulated.

We start by repairing our falling down bridges. That should take about ten years. Since our troops have so much experience building roads and bridges in Iraq, they''''ll be ready made to take those jobs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Posted by tuckerndfw at 07:16 PM : Aug 23, 2008

Again, how can you use money saved by not having military in Iraq, when we''ve already got a huge debt that needs to be paid down. It seems any money saved should be used to spend down the debt.
