Tax Policy Experts Give Democrat's Proposal To Nix Income Tax For Some Seniors Low Marks
- What''s really funny (hypocritical, but funny) about all of this idiotic economic blathering from the lunatic fringe is that most of them are so poor that McCrank''s campaign committee has to pay them to post all over the web.

- Sorry, but my question had nothing to do with Bush or actually Afghanistan, it had to do with Obama changing his tune, at a moments notice, he was all anti-war, during the primary, courting the liberal anti-war voters, once he had them in his pocket, then he morphed into a war-mongerer and then He''''ll take public financing, then he won''''t, He won''''t drill then he will, he is playing the democrats like a fiddle and playing them hard....this is not about McCain or Bush, but about Obama''''s duplicity

What I''m saying is that Obama at least has it right now. We NEED to be in Afghanistan; that is a war I fully support and needs to be won. - Reply to this comment

- "The odds are the retired folks - they''re getting pensions, they''re getting Social Security, they have investment assets, they own a house - so ... they''re better off than somebody who is 30 or 40 years
Yes but if it is a federal pension it is subtracted from social security because you can not receive 2 fed checks so all that money that they keep even though it was paid in is denied nice huh just another way to get the elderly - Reply to this comment

- I see seniors working everywhere. They can''t survive on SSI alone. No one could. Life happens. If you are able to have a 401k or a government retirement, then you are lucky. Others could use the tax break.
Part of your SSI is taxable if your adjusted gross income is generally equal to one half of your social security payments plus all your income from other sources. There is a worksheet in the 1040 and 1040A packets.
Some peoples SSI monthly check is so low that they have no choice but to find work. You can''t live on $10,000 per year. The author of this article says that retirees have huge assets and retirement income. I don''t see it.

What we need is WAR. WAR, WAR, and MORE war...and more financial help for the struggling upper class.
Poor people like war. Look how many of them are fighting it. And, after all, poor people like to pay taxes. They understand that they should pay just as much as rich people because the rich are better than they are and deserve everything they can get their hands on. Besides, poor people should pay for all that government debt they ran up under those profligate liberal governments of Ray-gun, Bush and Bush the lesser. This is obvious, don''t you think?

- Wellhell3,
Since Obama is funded by 2 million donrs feom all backgrounds I guess your argument is that Obama isn''t going to raise taxes. I agree.
Omega39 is right about the value of the dollar being brought down by the debt. it''s common sense that the underlying financial stability of an economy will effect the value of the assets supported by that economy.
Since oil is priced in dollars the debt also plays a part in high oil prices. So does the invasion of Iraq and the disruption it brought to Iraqi oil. You won''t hear any discussion of either of these points from the republicns or their good friends in the corporate-owned MSM(it''s no coincidence that your nightly news is brought to you by the pharmacuetical and oil industries). - Reply to this comment
