alanrobisch2,

Will have to wait and see just how far that alleged gravitas and understanding gets us with the Russians. We might have done well to approach Russia with some gravits and understanding before this crisis blew up.

Now how about those Russian threats to send missles to Cuba in response to the Bush "anti-missle" plan? How about them arming Iran with anti-aircraft batteries in response to the same?

Eisenhower created the first Cuban missle crisis by placing missles in Turkey and now Bush may be managing to create another.

And good old "experienced" Senator gravitas is following behind like his little poodle ala Tony Blair.

McBUSH once again follows the Bush admin, it like everything else Bush has touched is wrong.

If we are to mediate and end to the fighting, we can''t start off taking sides as we''ve done in Israeli-Palestinian disputes throughout the Bush term. It has failed there and will fail in Russia-Georgis conflict.

News report says we airlifted 2000 Georgian troops from Iraq to Georgia.... does that sound like a move toward bringing about a cease-fire?

Hooey. You are the foul ball who claims that Obama will win like Johnson over Goldwater. McCain shows in this case a real gravitas and understanding of the situation. I hope he''s our next president.

usais11 - Is that statement one of those "approved talking points" that the McCain campaign is PAYING people to post to the web on "targeted" sites?

It certainly reads like one since it isn''t specific to this article.

What "reward" are you going for from them? I''ve heard some of those are pretty impressive.

Obama may be considered a "rock star" by his supporters, but the kind of superficial glamour and excitement that this terminology suggests is not what most voters are looking for in a president. Heartland values, not Hollywood values, still define what most voters want in a president. Most voters want a president whom they perceive as loyal, courageous, hardworking, and fair. Someone who commands the respect of others through the strength of his character and the wisdom of his actions. Someone who is prepared to fight to protect his home and country from invaders. In other words, someone who appeals to voters, on a psychological or emotional level, as the kind of person they would want for a father, husband, boss, or comrade-in-arms.

Rock stars may be fun, but they do not fit this image. Neither does Obama. His life story, while unique and interesting, bespeaks little more than an ambitious and opportunistic young man, still wet behind the ears, with an unhealthy fascination with his own ego - and potentially unreliable when the chips are down.

The American people are not going to entrust the security and prosperity of the country to such an immature and unproven man.

Watch the video peter -BOTH major candidates made statements. CBS just chose to play up the McCain one which was more detailed AND Presidential PRESUMPTIVE.
Obama expressed disapproval of the conflict and left action decisions to the shifty eyed one in charge of this nation - and W''s eyes were REALLY shifty in his response on this!

Anyone know if our people and troops training the Georgians are in danger in Georgia?

Interesting move since Political Analysts (bookies)have stated that the ODDS improve for Republican Candidates if the people are focused on ANOTHER WAR.

HOW MANY wars can the US take before it COMPLETELY collapses like the SOVIET UNION did?

It SURE SEEMS the US is FOLLOWING IN THOSE MISTAKEN FOOTSTEPS and traps that our intelligence set for what NOW appears to be a much smaller, more streamlined and more cunning Russia.

Speaking of TRICKERY - Didn''t KKKarl Rove recently step up to "handle" McCain''s campaign from behind the scenes?

McSame should shut his mouth as he''s making himself look like a complete idiot. There is nothing the United States can do to stop this conflict between Russia and Georgia, and, if McSame doesn''t know it, than he is much more dangerous that I thought he was. Its a funny thing that Bush looked into Putin''s eyes and saw an honorable man, while McSame claims to have looked into Putin''s eyes and saw KGB. It''s reassuring to know that persons such as Bush and McSame are blessed with the power of reading minds. Of course, truth be known, neither could read a Fifth Grade Speller. This incident points out more than ever the need for a level-headed, intelligent leader such as Sen. Barack Obama for President and not a hothead suffering from senility and/or Alzheimer''s disease like McBush.

Dear John,

In case you didn''t know, Russia holds a stranglehold on Europe and China through its oil and gas pipelines. While we''ve been dilly dallying in Iraq they''ve extended their reach by entering into oil & gas agrrements with others in the region(Turkmenistan, Kazakastan, Uzbekistan, China).

Russia is also supplying Iran with the anti-aircraft batteries that will make the already difficult task of
taking out their nuke facilities even more dicey.

The Russians & the Chinese have also done something else during the Bush Watch which was never done during the cold war...their militaries have staged joint war games together. The 2 of them represent 2 vetoes on the Security Council to prevent any U.N. action.

Putin has turned the clock back on democratic reforms and has his sights set on regaining control in former Soviet Republics.

The time for talk was long before now; now it''s too late. They don''t want to listen to us and I doubt if our allies who we dissed in Iraq want to either.
