I said to keep religion out of politics, I think you misunderstood me....but there is a place for God as our strength, not religious issues

But what we don''''t need is what Obama brings, more division and more costly liberal socialist programs and spending, on top of a suffering economy....we need to lower taxes on middle and lower class, and balance the budget which might involve cuts in programs, not more bloated socialist goverment programs like Obama suggests

I do not agree we will see that.

Bill Clinton was accused of the same thing when he was running, and he turned out to be reasonably responsible financially. Especially compared to GWB!!!!!

Well, they should leave religions issues to religion and churches, and keep the bible out of politics, but I do strongly believe in keeping God in Government as our strength.

NO. That is a very recent phenomena in politics, and is very unhealthy for our democracy.

In gentler times, religion was a very personal matter that was not discussed and argued in public debates.

The change we need is from the Bush era. And Obama can provide that change. McCain would simply be more of the same.

It would be like repainting your dark red house to a medium red house .... still the same color.

So I hope you can see that there are distinct differences between true conservatives and the current republicans, such as bush, who doesn''''t practice any of those principles we discussed. I think that''''s why the liberals/democrats call them new-conservatives or neocons, of which I''''m not a party of

What turns many people off is the combination of stated conservative values that are not followed (hypocrisy), wrapped up with a religious nationalism that is very reminiscent of fascism.

I could vote for that, if they would leave the pious religious BS out of it.

Well there hasn''''t been any conservative candidates since the late 1990''''s, but if there will be, they will be very attractive to moderate democrats and independents, because of their common sense policies

I respect your opinion, but don''''t share it....I just think McCain is a bit too liberal and too close to the democrats to get real changes

We agree on every one of those!

But your conservative candidates promise you all those things, then never deliver. They have a totally different TRUE agenda, which is to service the wealthy individuals and corporations.

Fiscal responsibility
Lower Taxes
Balanced Budgets
Smaller government
Strong national defense
Immigration reform

Those are a few Conservative principles, that the current republicans are not excersizing

I can''''t read your quote, it is filled with %2019''''s, but McCain is not my choice of candidate, I would have preferred Huckabee, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, even Romney would have been a better choice, but since we have horrible choices this election, we have to live with them and hold our noses in the booth

Posted by Minuteman-5

Actually, I think McCain was the best choice, as compared to those clowns.

Well, I might agree with you in some respect, I am more of a conservative, so the current Republicans do not exhibit conservative principles, and I will be happy if they are eventually replaced with more conservative candidates in the future...

List the principles?
