Fmr. Sen. Phil Gramm Steps Down As Campaign Co-Chair After Saying U.S. Had Become A "Nation Of Whiners" Last Week
- The people can ''''whine'''' all they want. That''''s basic to a democracy. If our leaders can''''t do anything about it, they can simply admit they''''re powerless. No big deal. Everything is above board. If the ''''whining'''' blames these same leaders as being responsible for the misery, let''''s not call it ''''whining.'''' It''''s calling them to account.

A truism, well defined. Thank you.
I wonder what FDR might do to call people whiners... wait, he only inspired people... - Reply to this comment
- Gramm is right, and these posts prove it. No one accepts personal responsibility for anything anymore. "It''''''''s not my fault, goverment please help me!"

If more and more people are feeling it, it''''s clearly not personal anymore. It becomes an issue of national import.

- Phil Gramm resigns big deal! John McCain did not the best thing. But, the hole topic is amusing, comical, makes me almost laugh, and make me feel comically happy. What happened was a slip of the tongue caused a world outcry. What did he say that was so bad anyway. Later, he''ll be remembered for leaving his position and people will forget what he actually said. His statement does not fit every situation imaginable, so was no real sin. It was only because the media picked up on it that he left his position. Again, what he said was incorrect, but we should not send him out of the United States. The reason I agree with his absense is the presidential campaign must treated with respect. The news media and the Democrats are also trying to cover up the Jackson "N" word story. God bless senator John McCain, our troops, and the entire United States of America.

- Gramm says that the people are in a "mental recession?" Well, at least the people aren''t in a "mentally challenged conflict-of-interest," you putz. Get a life. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot- Your''s is about over, you old dog, you.

- He just told the truth. You''''''''''''''''re all a bunch of whiners. War is nasty business. If you don''''''''''''''''t play there, you''''''''''''''''ll play here. Want to prove it? How about another 9/11? It''''''''''''''''ll happen but you''''''''''''''''ll just find another way to blame "W" for it.

Are you nuts?
The evidence for making war in Iraq was all manipulated. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 you moron.

I agree. But I feel that the argument, that surfaces from time to time, that it plays a vital role in securing the U.S. against further terrorist attacks needs to be questioned. - Reply to this comment

How about another 9/11? What do you call Iraq? Iraq is not casualty-free. In terms of costs, it''s much worse than 9/11, yet it has failed to lessen the security threat against the U.S. More dead Americans, the war bill running to the tune of trillions. That''s on top of Afghanistan. Now if we are prepared to accept this level of casualties in Iraq, it would be cheaper to have those casualties here in the states. No need to burn all that oil to deploy our military in foreign lands and waste billions in fraud to run this war. We would have a better concentration of resources to fight terrorism here in the states. And the guys we catch are more likely to be the terrorists we''re seeking.
Show us some proof that Afghanistan and the fully functioning DHS would not have been enough to address terrorism on U.S. soil. Because if you''re saying we can''t defend ourselves without killing our economy, then we''re doomed anyway. - Reply to this comment

- I also believe that Rowdy''s honesty and integrity are in question because he/she claims to be a democrat while always commenting like a devoted Bush/McCain apologist.
He/she supports republican policies over democratic policies and slams any and all democrats (except Hillary) who dare to say something good about Obama or anything bad about McCain.
That''s my opinion. I leave it to everyone else to form his or her own opinions.

Rowdy is a lying sack of garbage from Texas who posts opinion pieces as fact-based journalism (if SHE posts ANY links to back up her spew).
The feeling among most posters is that she is a Republican who only pretended to be a Democrat. She backed Hillary simply because she was a woman. They have absolutely nothing else in common. - Reply to this comment
- Strange, isn''''t it...Obama''''s insurance plan has already been debunked...and McCain''''s insurance plan has been shown to be a better deal for those below poverty level! Adults as well as children!

RIGHT!! LOL Who are you going to sell that tired old trash too? McSame''s is the EXACT same plan floated by Sir Lies-A-Lot awhile ago. It will for the most part, do away with Employer Insurance and will place the full burden on the PERSON... You know those Whiners who can''t seem to make ends meet NOW! But hey I guess a LIE a day is about normal for you... Got to hand it to you though. At least YOU will stick your head out of the hole to defend the loser''s plan.
