GOP Candidate Knocks Obama's Afghanistan Plans, Says Current Strategy In Iraq Should Be Applied
- Well, he knows how to fight, without commenting on how well.
Last I checked, we lost that war (Vietnam). - Reply to this comment
- First of all, McCain hasn''t won any war. The Vietnam war was lost by him and his generation! The claim to know how to win wars is based on the idea that he is a military man and as such knows better how to win a military victory; but modern day warfare is not just a war fought by soldiers but by diplomats, businessmen, bankers, etc; the contributions of the latter may be more important in winning the war than soldiers!

- Like McCain forgets Sunni and Shia, the fact that Czechoslovakia doesn''t exist, and his stand on nearly every position, I forget exactly which war McCain has won. Cons? Please tell us which war McCain has won.

- McCain has all kinds of troops at the ready at Camp Fantasyland to send to Afghanistan.

- McCain used to appear as a common sense candidate a couple of years ago, prior to announcing his candidacy. This expansion of troops in Afghanistan, without adjusting in Iraq, shows his proposal continues the Bush motto of "Never check on your resources". No, John, you''re right; our military will magically appear much larger if you become President, and you''ll never, ever have to think about conscription with your agressive plans

- It''s like watching a quarterback saying "I know how to win superbowls" when that particular QB has never won a superbowl. It''s plain silly to anyone who thinks.

- "I know how to win wars. And if I''m elected president, I will turn around the war in Afghanistan, just as we have turned around the war in Iraq, with a comprehensive strategy for victory." McCain (fm article)
My comments:
1. That HE knows how to win wars, is an extremely LOUD boast! He knows how to wreck jet-fighters---he''s crashed five! He knows how to be a P.O.W.---he was one for 5 1/2 years or so. But, after being wrong about every bold claim he''s made about Iraq so far, I see no reason to believe him on this!
2. It appears & sounds as if he looks forward to BEING a war president! I don''t like his enthusiasm! I don''t WANT another war president! I want a president who can do positive things, not JUST continue wasting money on death and destruction. Any damnn fool can do that!
3. The war HASN''T been ''turned around''! The combatants are just taking their payoff money to cease from fighting now and waiting. When the money stops, or they''re ready it will begin again in full earnest!
Bush/GOP are just faking out the public to try to get Reps elected in November, the war isn''t being won!
4. If he HAD a comprehensive strategy for victory he would have already put it forward and been declared the savior of the nation! He has none! He''s constantly making mixed-up statements about Iraq---Lieberman has to whisper in his ear that Iran isn''t arming the Sunnis, after he claimed they were! His lack of knowledge on Iraq/Afghanistan is sad! - Reply to this comment
- "I win some wars over there and then I win some over thataways and even win some down there!"

- We know he knows how to crash a plane in a war. But, there''s really no evidence he knows much more than that when it comes to actually winning a war.

- "I know how to win war" .Maybe the McCain (and the press should press him on this statement) should tell us which war has he won. the answwer is 0.
We send him to Vietnam he came back on a strecher. what kind of victory is that? - Reply to this comment
- "The status quo is not acceptable. Security in Afghanistan has deteriorated, and our enemies are on the offensive."
If this is so, why doesn''t McCain push Bush to something about Afghanistan RIGHT NOW, rather wait until AFTER he''s elected? Oh I forgot, it''s all about getting elected. - Reply to this comment
- "I Know How To Win Wars" ???
Nothing in John''s past indicates this. His military experience only presents the case that he should teach American military how to withstand torture, a skill they will likely need more than ever.
His recent statements indicates that he''s forgotten everything else about his career. - Reply to this comment
- You could send Liz Murray and Ashleigh Bryant of the Military Channel (Around The Services) there, that would win too.

- McCain graduated from the US Naval Academy 894th in a class of 899. He wrecked five jets before they finally got rid of him. Obviously he is not the brightest bulb on the tree. He was shot down by an out-of-date Soviet missile by men with no experience in anti-aircraft warfare because he did not follow the rules of evasion taught at the Academy. Let''s just say the man has only one oar in the water.
He disses two in five people on the face of the earth by referring to all Asians as %u201CGooks.%u201D He may be viewed as a %u201Chero,%u201D but I don%u2019t think being shot down qualifies him for the job of president. - Reply to this comment
