In Interview With CBSNews.com, Ex-McCain Rival Flashes VP-Type Style
Im sorry to say but McCain is a little weird, and Romney is an absolute simpleton with very little depth.- Reply to this comment
- The present election is a struggle between the Big Business types whose god is the almighty dollar, and everyone else in the country. Obama is far from a good candidate for the Oval Office, but if the money men offer us Romney, the American people will choose Obama. McCain''s only hope is Mike Huckabee, who has both the moral center and the vision to make America better.

- Mitt Romney looked so convincing when he ran against John McCain and now in the same breath and with the same energy he supports McCain and his agenda, same idea with Clinton and Obama! Whats real in Politics?

- Mitt would rather put sick and dying people in prison than to let them have their medicine. He is a typical republican politician, hateful and ugly. he cares not about people but about himself.
he is bad for the country. - Reply to this comment
- Well it looks as though the left wing Obama hypnotized kooks were up all night posting like the good zombie comrades they are. If any of these wackos think somebody will believe that they were going to vote for McCain but changed their mind when Romney was suggested as VP they are even crazier than they sound.
Obviously, Dems are scared $!iTl@$$ about Romney. It would be great to dump McCain at the convention and put Romney at the top. What this country needs is not a lying, flip-flopping pandering afro-centric Marxist nor an Amnesty-loving, illegal alien pandering, Global warming hoax believer. We need someone with cujones that has leadership abilities and a great economics and business mind like Mitt. - Reply to this comment
- After McSame gave his speech about winning wars I''m done with him. I don''t care who his VP is.

- "Will Romney''s Combative Style Net VP Nod?
Well I don''t know what the author of this "story" ever got the adjective "Combative" from.
I, like a lot of Americans, have never seen a "combative" Mitt Romney.
We have seen someone that is probably the most-rounded and complete person that could run for president.
Mitts father marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mitts mother ran for the US Senate from Michigan in the 1960''s.
She was one of the first woman in America to ever to so.
An M & M ticket would be hard to beat on November 4th.
One thing is for sure our mostly liberal MSM wolfpack press "hates" Mitt because they know he''s the one to add the most to John McCains chances of winning the White House on November 4th....... - Reply to this comment

Most of our presidents and candidates lately are dependant their wives for money.
McCain: Cindy is an Anheuser-Busch heiress
Kerry: his wife is a Hunts heiress
Clinton: Rodham fortune
Dole: Wife beer heiress
GHWB and GWB both live off the Walker fortune from Barbara''''s family.
Obama appears to be the only self-made man in recent years.

Actually, that''s not true. Gov. MikeHuckabee grew up VERY poor, then worked his way through high school and college, and graduated from college with honors in 2.5 years. He started his career in radio, then advertising. He was a well-loved pastor for several years before becoming the lieutenant governor of Arkansas for 3 years, and then governor for 10.5 years.
He currently earns money from royalties (he''s written several books) and from speaking fees. He has no personal or family fortune from which to draw. In the primaries, Huckabee was able to earn the second most delegates (more than Romney) without going into campaign debt, personal debt, or using anyone''s inheritance. - Reply to this comment
- Currently as it stands, I am not voting FOR McMutiny. But if I do vote for the republicans it will be against Obama. (I hate this position I and others are in.) However with Romney as the VP (and possibly some other very strong conservative to balance McCain), I would vote FOR the ticket. I have warmed a little to McCain and do respect all of his ~50+ years of service to the country etc (Makes Obama look like a weakling after 143 days in the senate before realizing he is the anointed one). McMutiny is just too squirely (ie liberal) for me. Either way, the Liberal wing of the Democrat party wins out in this election because more of their marxist big government ideas will be pushed forward rather then held back if a conservative were in the race. The bright side if dems control Pres/House/Senate like they did when billy boy lewinsky was elected, 2 years later will be a HUGE shift back to the right!!! I just don''t know if we could recover from 2 years with such an extremest government. And for those clinton lovers...He got thrown under the bus by his biggest supporters and apologists (msm and those closest to him) as quickly as they could ditch him, what a disgrace to the office he was. And to nominate such a lightweight instead of his much more qualified wife...hahahahahahaha...It''s embarassing to be a clinton supporter these days isn''t it? History is starting to clarify what a shameful president he really was.

- Why I like Gov. Mike Huckabee for Vice President:
-- proven fiscal conservative -- as Governor of Arkansas for 10.5 years, he balanced the budget in Arkansas and kept it that way throughout his time in office
-- he worked with an overwhelmingly Democrat legislature and was able to push through several broad tax cuts for the first time in AR history, while increasing the budgets for roads and schools
-- re-elected twice!
-- young and healthy; runs marathons
-- able to connect authentically with working class voters, which will be essential in swing states like OH, MI, and PA
-- can help pick up the states in the South, where McCain is weaker
-- terrific campaigner and speaker, gifted communicator
-- consistently wins almost EVERY on-line VP poll
-- great debate ability
-- connects well with voters and the media
-- great sense of humor
-- connects well with "MTV" generation
-- totally trusted by the social conservatives and pro-life voters
-- no awkward anti-McCain remarks to explain
-- telegenic
-- humble and honest when he makes a mistake (which is not often)
-- fanatically loyal and hard-working volunteer / grassroots base
-- compelling personal story; grew up poor
-- highly intelligent-- grad. from 4-yr college with honors in just 2.5 years
-- already vetted; no skeletons in his closet
-- married to his high school sweetheart, Janet, for 34 yrs - Reply to this comment
- BajaJohn1: Why is it that republicans get either plain stupid questions or tough hardball questions at the podium, while Democrats get fluff softball questions. I say throw the hardballs at both sides of the isle and make them actually take a stand for something they "supposedly" believe in. This happens to all CEOs/CFOs of companies at their quarterly results. We all know full well the msm and for that matter the whitehouse press corp is in the tank for Obama/democrats. (fine, msm just admit it and quit pretending not to have a horse in the race.) I was watching ABC''s news, funny they had 2 positive Obama spots and 2 negative McCain spots. In their minds that''s balanced, 2 spots each. I seriously have not heard a single specific thing Obama will do. Other then pull the troops out of iraq ASAP 10-20,000 troops/month. (oh wait, now that he has sealed the Dem nod he wants to talk with Gen Petreus first and slow down the retreat). Obama is all about fluff and meaningless rhetoric. And I''m being generous when I say that. I haven''t even brought up the slew of extreme Anti-American Marxist group of leftist buddies he has kept in his close circle of friendship for decades.

- Mitt''s business success:
In 1992, Bain acquired American Pad & Paper. By 1999, the year Romney left Bain, two American plants were closed, 385 jobs had been cut and the company was $392 million in debt.
The next year, Ampad was forced into bankruptcy.
Bain Capital and Goldman Sachs bought Dade International for about $450 million in 1994.
The firm quickly fired or relocated at least 900 workers. Over the next several years, it sunk increasingly into debt and laid off 1,000 workers.
In 2002 it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
A 1997 buyout of LIVE Entertainment for $150 million resulted in 40 layoffs, 1/4 of the company''s workers.
The job cuts affected all aspects of the company from production and acquisition to legal and public relations.
In 1997, Bain bought a stake in DDI Corp., a maker of electronic circuit boards.
3 years later Bain took the company public and collected a $36 million payout.
By August 2003, the company filed for bankruptcy, laying off over 2,100 workers.
Four months after the bankruptcy, shareholders sued company executives, the initial public offering underwriters and Bain for mismanaging the IPO and failing to disclose company financial information. - Reply to this comment
- Bookaholic makes a number of excellent points regarding Mr. Romney. Mr. Romney, like the overwhelming majority of Mormons, has a commitment to community service. He has been a very successful businessman and has been ethical while doing so.
Many people have problems with the beliefs of the Mormon church (not limited to the evangelical community). However, the emphasis on family values, on self help and of service to others is very attractive.
Perhaps more to the point, if not Mr. Romney then who else is a superior candidate to assist Mr. McCain? With Gov Romney as a running mate, I would consider voting for Sen. McCain. Otherwise, probably not. I sincerely doubt that I am alone in my thinking. - Reply to this comment
- Choosing Romney for VP would be a huge mistake, for several reasons. One is that many Americans think Romney is plastic and fake. A lot of political junkies don''t trust Romney''s "johnny-come-lately" positions on social issues. And finally, a 2007 Gallup poll revealed that 48% of Americans stated that they would never vote for a Mormon, under any circumstances. Mormons (most of whom are lovely people) complain that people are just bigots. But what they don''t understand is that most Americans think the Mormon faith is wacky. A lot of us have read about Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, and the early LDS teachings. And folks, it IS wacky. (Thirty-six wives? Please stop and just think about that for a second!!) It''s not that we''re all bigots... it''s that we think only a very naive or foolish person would willingly remain in that religion, if they knew what it REALLY teaches. Do a Google search on "LDS + blood atonement," or "LDS temple ceremony." Did you know ... the Mormons teach that if a man is a good and faithful Mormon, he can someday become the God of his own world? But his wife only gets to join him (and give birth to spirit babies forever) ONLY if the husband is pleased with her and decides to call her up to him. Talk about pressure!!
Just because we don''t agree with Obama doesn''t make us racists... and just because we don''t like Romney doesn''t make us all bigots. - Reply to this comment
- Romney seems OK but his lack of core values re abortion and his sudden getting of religion in that regard and presumably other things as well - embryonic stemcell research (McCain''s deficiency as well. One of them) etc. make me awfully wary of him.

- Sorry for the double post. The gibberish was produced from a contraction of "It is". Who knows why?!
It is hard to believe that people would vote for the most liberal Senator sitting in the Congress just because he''s pleasant and speaks well. We need a lot more than that to run the ship of state! These are dangerous times, folks. - Reply to this comment
- As much as I a WIA Viet-Nam veteran would like to vote for John McCain, I will not do so, if Romney''s on the ticket with John. My guess & hope is many another social conservative will do the same.
Because I''m certain Obama is not an American patriot I cannot trust him as Commander-in-Chief, and I disagree with some of his policy positions, I won''t vote for him, regardless whom he chooses as his running mate. - Reply to this comment
