Things in our economy did not start going bad until Democrats took over the House and Senate. Want someone to blame, blame yourselves(Democrats), you self righious, draft dodging, coward hipocrits of the left. Accept responsibility for the way you voted and what has happened since.

Three Facts That Could Change This Election

by ihavenobias

Here are three stunning facts that could not only change the outcome of this election, but with regard to the first two points, they could change the results of every election for years to come *if* we make enough people aware of them.

1) Over 70% of our National Debt was created by just 3 Republican presidents.

2) Real middle class wage growth is double when a Democrat is president compared to when a Republican is president.

3) 90% of Americans would pay less taxes under Obama''''s proposed tax plan compared to McCain''''''''s.

Countless millions of Americans vote Republican because they believe they''''ll pay less taxes and that they''''ll have their money spent more responsibly. As you can see, those beliefs are directly contradicted by the facts. Of course we can choose to ignore the facts and instead focus on which candidate is wearing a flag pin (you ever notice that Hillary and McCain don''''t wear them?

Sharkboy:

The fact is, all of us are paying a %u201CBush premium%u201D at the pump%u2014we are the victims of bad policy, misplaced priorities and a misbegotten war.

For seven years, Bush''s policies have utterly failed to protect our nation''s energy security. The primary reason for our current high gas prices is that the Bush administration and its allies made no serious effort to end America''s dependence on foreign oil. They blocked efforts to encourage conservation, improve fuel efficiency, and mandate the use of renewable energy sources.

The Bush-McCain war in Iraq caused most of the "global unrest" and unleashed the speculators that have driven up world oil prices. Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz found that the Iraq war substantially increased crude oil prices, which in turn pushed up prices at the pump. Bush-McCain saber-rattling and threats of war against Iran and others raises additional fears of supply disruptions, prompting speculators to jack up prices.

Skyrocketing fuel prices shouldn''t surprise anyone because big oil companies wrote the Bush energy policy. The same big oil companies that recently reported windfall profits participated in Vice President Cheney''s 2001 task force that wrote the Bush Administration''s energy plan. Despite a lawsuit, the proceedings of this task force have remained secret to this day. But it would be hugely naove to think that the oil companies didn''t get exactly what they wanted.

No, Congress''''s single digit approval is due mostly to Republican efforts to obstruct the business at hand. e.g., Repub attempts to filibuster a new Medicare bill.

Al Franken Ad Calls Out Congressional Revolving Door to K-Street

By: Bill W. @ 6:00 PM - PDT
Senate Guru:

Norm Coleman sides with union-busters, while Al Franken sides with hard-working Minnesotans. Meanwhile, Franken releases a new ad that actually blew my mind with an overwhelmingly simple message - very worth the thirty seconds to watch:

Franken: In Washington they debate whether former members of Congress should wait one year or two years before they can become registered lobbyists. How about never? Right now hundreds of former Senators and Congressmen are lobbying for big oil and special interests. No wonder gas is at $4 a gallon. %u2026

%u201CNo wonder%u201D is right. Franken%u2019s vow to work to change the rules to prevent members of Congress from ever becoming lobbyists is one other Democrats would do well to emulate.

A 2005 study by Public Citizen found that 43% of Senators and Representatives who left office since 1998 went on to become lobbyists, and that was well before likes of ex-House Speaker Dennis Hastert and ex-Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott abandoned their elected offices before their terms expired to join their ranks. Instead of running for office to serve their country and the public good, politicians (53% of Republicans and 33% of Democrats) increasingly have instead (ab)used their offices as a stepping-stone so they can cash in, and it%u2019s no secret we all suffer for it.
