I lived in NC for 14 years, and I have to say, ol'' Jesse added a bit of color to an otherwise drab playing field. I never voted for him, but I enjoyed the foil that he played - he is one reason that North Carolina politics was always interesting. May the man rest in peace, and let''s hope there won''t be anyone worse than he was, to take his place.

The left is no ally to Al-Qaida, no matter what propaganda you''re reading. I don''t know if you missed it, but Bush''s wars have been a huge recruiting success for Al-Qaida.

"Jesse Helms...did more to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa than any other politician "
By denying aid for condom distribution (and a current favorite in Africa: male vasectomy), in favor for Christian ''just say no'' foolishness, Helms has probably KILLED more people in Africa than any other politician in Congress.

Let me dispel a rumor. The US has rarely been respected overseas by other nations except in the days following liberation from a depotic leader or occupying army. Japan may be the one exception. In fact of one of their national heros is an American that rebuilt their economy after the end of WWII. The islamo-fascists consider the radical left an ally under the guise of the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Of course that is until they need you no longer. Jesse Helms was an ardent anti-communists, never compromised and did more to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa than any other politician in Congress. Yes he was a product of his time. I often wonder how future generations will look back on the records of the posts of extremist from both major parties in America. I''d guess they will conclude we are a product of our time.

The way I see it is he nailed himself - as an ignorant, illiterate fool who shouldn''''t be posting publically at all until he learns how to communicate effectively.

Learn how to spell, clown. "roten" is spelled with two "t,s," "whos" is spelled whose. Everything you say seemed to be the product of an uneducated idiot.

Helms-A true discrace to America, a bigot, racist, sexist and welcome in Hell. He can prepare the way for Chaney and the other of that same ilk. It is a regret that it did not occur 30 years ago and spare the people of NC the shame of his presence in Congress. Maybe now we can elect a black man and no one will think it is strange.

Hahaha... oh yea, nailed him all right. Achilles spells "habit" "habbit".... and he supposedly "nails" someone...right.

The way I see it is he nailed himself - as an ignorant, illiterate fool who shouldn''t be posting publically at all until he learns how to communicate effectively.

/* Helms did more to make the country great than even our founding fathers. He understood that there are two classes of people, those who rule and those who do your bidding. He would have returned America to the former glory of the Roman Empire had his stem cell therapy not gone so horribly wrong.
- RushLimbaug4 */

That comment is so far out I can''t tell if it''s serious! Whatever. Jesse would''ve loved the Empire with its conquering armies, religious suppression and institutionalized slavery, plus at least half of the Caesars being delusional despots.

Let''s hope he''s buried head-down. That''ll take the vile prejudice that was in his skull and put it 6 feet closer to H.e.l.l.
