Democrat Unveils Proposal To Help Religious Charities, Expand Bush's Initiative
- Lets see, when Bush talked about faith based programs the liberals pounded him saying he was mixing religion and politics. Now that Obama says it is a good idea, the liberals love the idea and wouldn''t you know it the left wing media goes right along for the ride.

- Obama%u2019s for Equal Pay, Yet Pays Female Staffers Less Than Males

CNS NEWS - While Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has vowed to make pay equity for women a top priority if elected president, an analysis of his Senate staff shows that women are outnumbered and out-paid by men. - Reply to this comment
- From the Kitchen of the Obama Sheeple:
Take one heaping spoonful of an inexperienced elitist white male seeking self validation through exploitation of his African American genetics.
Combine two parts black liberation theology clerics spewing intolerance with two parts of unrepentant intellectuals committed to the destruction of America.
Stir in one cup of militant black wife harboring the overwhelming desire to stick it to whitey and one spoonful of typical white person grandmother. Mix well.
Pour a gallon of Anti Patriotism into tall glasses and sprinkle with naive foreign policy ideations. Serve on a platter of meaningless oratorical hyperbole with a genereous dallop of wealth re-distribution. Sprinkle liberally with the zest of white guilt. Serve large portions to the undiscerning and spellbound masses convinced that the Second Coming is upon America.
Now you have a recipe for disaster - Reply to this comment

No, we''d be better off if the Faith-Based Organizations actually afforded some charity as opposed to multi-million dollar homes and Rolexes for their leaders.... - Reply to this comment

- n a February 2007 appearance with her husband on 60 Minutes, Mrs. Obama implied that America''s allegedly rampant white racism posed a great physical threat to her husband, who had just announced his candidacy for the 2008 presidential race.
Said Mrs. Obama: "As a black man, you know, Barack can get shot going to the gas station." (Mrs. Obama''s implication ignored the fact that the vast majority of violence against black Americans is committed by other blacks. According to the U.S. Justice Department, for instance, between 1976 and 2005, fully 94 percent of black murder victims were killed by black attackers.) - Reply to this comment

- Barak Hussein Obama is running as fast as he can from the 1/2 of his family that are Moslem. His natural father is an African Moslem. His step-father is an Indonesian Moslem. As a child he attended a Wahabi Moslem school in Indonesia. On the campaign trail he chases Moslem women wearing the headscarf out of the camera shot behind him. Today, half his family, all of his paternal relatives, are Moslems and live in Africa. Who in their right mind would elect a guy whose family lives in Africa?

- formrusmcsgt,
Think of it this way. Non-profits that receive public funds are sub-contracting to deliver social services in a more cost effective and efficient manner than government programs tend to provide.
There are problems with some 501(c)3s that aren''t properly managed just like all other institutions in society have their bad apples. On the whole the philanthropic community, both faith-based and secular,
fulfills a multitude of services that private for profit enterprise and government can''t fulfill as effectively.

- LOL. That is one way to get the religious leaders on board. Pay them. I opposed this program when Bush put it in place, and I oppose it now, even though I support Obama. I used to give money to some of these organizations, Salvation Army, etc., but once they got on the government dole, I assumed they no longer needed my money.

- Barocalto,
What a crock of ***! A lecturer is a Pfofessor whether or not they have tenure. He was more than a teaching assistant, no matter how you choose to spin it.
The bottom line is what does that have to do with anything in the campaign? Nothing. - Reply to this comment
- Pensacola88,
Excellent points! Most people don''t realize that philanthropic organizations, whether faith-based or secular, are major employes as well as providers of needed social services. - Reply to this comment
- Donbl1,
I don''t know what a study would show but you may be right.
It stands to reason that whether the faith-based organizations receiving funding are primarily black or white or mixed that the services benefit the neediest members of society.
In today''s America that can be anyone. - Reply to this comment
- "Reaching out to religious voters, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama called for expanding President Bush''s program steering federal social service dollars to religious groups."
Although I support and will vote for Obama, I do not agree with this move.
"Faith_Based Initiatives" should come from "Faith-Based Organizations", not from your taxes.
But who can win an election without some of the "believers", eh? - Reply to this comment
- Blah, blah, blah! He''s a good lawyer and an excellent politician! He''ll say ANYTHING to get a vote. But, who knows what he''ll actually do once elected. Heck, we don''t know this guy, except for the poor choices in choosing pastors, acquaintances, and his own words...

- Well I gotta tell you that most of my religious friends are bigots and would never vote for a black man. They keep sending me these e-mails telling me why I shouldn''t vote for Obama. They also go to church every Sunday and pray to their Jesus God. Oh they never say that it''s because he is black. My atheist friends don''t seem to mind that that Barack Obama is black. All I can say is that if Barack Obama
becomes president, I hope he is the best president this county has ever had. - Reply to this comment
