Actually very middle class neighborhoods...the fancy neighborhoods are all gated and you can''''t drive thru.

I guess that leaves the later :)

Actually Rowdy, Detroit just laid off a bunch of autoworkers because demand for large vehicles has slowed down a lot.

I''m sure you are pro''bly right...but they''re still here, and will be for a least five years.

Like I said...who''s going to have money to turn around and pay $30-$40,000 for a new hybrid car after just buying?

I would have to guess either it is an exclusive neighborhood, or very dumb consumers. :)

mortal3....This is scary man. I started at the back and as I read I was wondering EXACTLY the same thing you posted. It does indeed seem that there are a handful of the same people on here day after day. They are so predictable. They should give this Rowdy girl her own show on FOX. She is one of the most intimidating people I have ever seen. I try to avoid her because even though she doesn''t know me and could never find me, she actually frightens me. How stupid is that? I think she reminds me of my x-wife. And there is never any room to have a discussion. You make one statement and imediately it''s,"you dipwad idiot" or something of the sort. And if you even faintly sound like you might support Obama, watch out. You''ll really get it. So why do I keep coming on here. I''m beginning to question myself about my own sanity. Anyway, it was freaky when I came to your post. And you know, the odd thing is that I''d probably like Rowdy if we met in person. I do admire passion in people and by God she has passion.

I dunno...I admit to not knowing the statistics, only what I see....and when I drive down neighborhoods, I see brand new vans and big trucks in the driveways...and these people are in the cities.

Yeah, it is, just that easy. I am a witness to it! There is one 100 yds from this house. From the day the papers were signed, it took two weeks to bring in 250 loads of gravel to get the pad down....and it was a month before they got all the inspections and hauled the right in and started drilling!

Yes, it''s that simple! I''ve seen it here with my own eyes....I don''t need an engineer to tell me.

Maybe that was true three years ago, but not today. If someone buys an SUV or a hummer today, they have disposable income and are not concerned about gas prices. However, I think that number has drastically been reduced to a very small select consumer today.

Yeah, we are...but we could be even bigger if the government let us pump it out!

Posted by RowdyWicca,

If it was so easy I am sure they would have started pumping it by now. That is if they can put up a pad and start drilling in six weeks like your previous post stated.

However, as a practicing engineer I can assure you that building a pad takes longer than six weeks. Unless the oil companies have a bunch of spare pads waiting to be installed, its not as quick as the GOP supporters would have you believe.

The problem with the supply of fossil fuels is the lack of refining capacity we have in the states. Its true that pumping more oil will increase supply but it also does nothing to increase the value of the dollar internationally or to increase the supply of gasoline in the United States.

In short drilling is a short-term bandaid solution. Our highest priority should be developing alternative energy technologies, conservation efforts and allowing drilling provided the company has adequate measures in place to protect the environment.

My question is...we have people that are buying brand new gas guzzling cars!!! They''''ve spent from $25-$30,000 and up for them! And they intent to drive them!
