Vaughn Ververs: The Death Of Tim Russert Will Reverberate For A Long Time
- Why was Russert taken to Sibley Hospital? It has no emergency room. Who made the decision to take him there? He was probably closer to GW Hospital when he collapsed. It has an emergency room.

- "Why Tim Russert and not Lush Limbaugh? Something about life not being fair,huh??

And this, my friends, is a PERFECT example of a Liberal left-wingnut. They would rather see someone from the right dead than show their respect for Mr. Russert. - Reply to this comment
I am still in shock.
I propose:
1. The newspaper should not publish any
story other than praise for Timmy;
2. Stores should not open for the next
several days;
3. No news shows this Sunday;
4. All natural disasters be postponed
for the next week;
5. Weather and sports be suspended
for the rest of the month;
6. Mandatory donut eating for 30 days;
7. Any child in America be named Timmy
until the end of the year.
I still can''t get over it.

- I can''t believe that everyone is singing the praises of Tim Russert, such as they are. He was a perfect example of how the MSM broadcast their disinformation throughout the country and the world. He did nothing to advance truth to the American people, and allowed them to be hoodwinked into believing the lies that American politicians are always telling. By his own inactions and by his lack of journalistic professionalism he allowed the various leaders he interviewed to tell the American people half truths, and further their attempts at globalism.
Tim Russert was no friend of the average American, instead he stood with for the high and mighty, the American elite who have no care or concern for the plight of the average American. He was a Jesuit, and as such a member of an elite group that will do any and everything they can to further the downfall of the American middle class. The Jesuits are a Military Religious Order of the Roman Catholic Church. If you believe that thy are in anyway concerned with the plight of the American people read the oath they take at this link: http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/jesuits.htm - Reply to this comment

- Posters appear to be split into one of two main opinions about Russert. One group idolizes him and sees him as the pre-eminent reporter of our time. And, the second group sees him as a below average hack reporter. In my opinion, I think Russert lies somewhere between those extremes.
On more than one occasion, he placed politicians from both parties ''on the spot'' by playing back prior audio or written statements, then asking them to explain! And by doing so, he kept them ''honesty'', ''on their toes'', forcing them to commit to something!
He became one of the few reporters to consistently do this as of late.
On the other hand, to some extent, he like the rest of the media, buckled to the Bush administration by not always asking the ''tough'' questions instead lobbing ''softballs'' at the interviewee. But, realistically, he couldn''t force them to answer if they didn''t want to!
I think it''s fair to say, both the public and the media were far better off for his efforts than we would have been without them!
Rest in peace. Condolences to his family! - Reply to this comment
- Our condolences to his wife and son and to all who knew him.
Every Sunday night at 10pm here in Ireland I''d make time to watch MTP on CNBC Europe. Besides a touch of home it was the best news hour on TV - from either side of the pond.
"May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you
In the palm of his hand." - Reply to this comment
- I feel saddened by his death - Russert was once after all a Good journalist until 9-11 - then he turn political and sided with the Bush administration to mislead Americans into an Lie for the Iraq War.
Russert ended up letting America and Americans down by perpetuating the Bush/Cheney LIE for the War.
May you Rest in Peace and may the Dead Soldiers of this and all wars be kicking you *** in heaven or where-ever you are for the betrayal of America!
You WERE sooo good - what made you turn against us? - Reply to this comment

We should all be so lucky to die as respected, admired and honored as Tim Russert. He was no group''s tool or boy. - Reply to this comment
- It''''s horrible that Tim Russert has died, and I am saddened for his family.
But when Bob Schieffer calls him "the best of our profession" and Vaughn Ververs refers to him as a Legend, it can only mean that journalism is in worse shape than I realized.
I guess you''''ve gotta go outside of the self-important and elite deluded beltway bubble stenographers to get the real skinny. For more on Russert''''s inane and superficial gotcha journalism:

Your profile of Russert consists entirely of endorsements by industry and civic groups. How apropos and exactly the point.
To apply a Russert to a Russert-- during the Scooter Libby trial, Cathie Martin, once communications director for Cheney, "suggested we put the vice president on Meet the Press, which was a tactic we often used. It''s our best format", allowing the administration to "control the message"
Clearly, Russert was not journalistically neutral territory for Bush. - Reply to this comment

- More tough questions left unanswered:
1. Now Hillary, why don''''''''t you admit you
are a racist and don''''''''t want to see a black
become president?
2. Mrs. Obama how do you like New York?
3. Mrs. Obama do you prefer white or red wine?
