You think HRC campaigning was nasty. Just wait for the "New Swift Boaters." I have to admit, Clinton is excellent in debating and articulate, and whip in response. Obama needs that quick swift articulation if he is going to win in a debate with McCain.

Posted by zoe2006 at 12:00 PM : Jun 04, 2008

Obama just needs McCain to lose his infamous temper, confuse the Iraq war with Vietnam or Pearl Harbor again and keep mixing up the Sunnis, Shia, Iran and Al Qaeda--if Obama can get the number of states straight and stop alluding to things he does not recall--(like the wrong concentration camp) McCain will shoot such a big hole in his own foot that no American with a conscience will be able to stomach voting for him.

I''ve been following McCain''s gaffes--they are so many and so serious that I wonder if he does not have onset of Elderly Dementia.

To clears thing up. NAFTA/CAFTA was in response to the European Union. Bush extorted its weaknesses and completely rewrote the policies. Also, she fired one of her campaign finance mgrs who lobbied on behalf of Columbia. Florida and Michigan screws themselves up.

Posted by zoe2006 at 11:56 AM : Jun 04, 2008

Further clarification:

1. Regardless of what NAFTA/CAFTA is for HRC LIED about her part in it and continues to lie. (she is for NAFTA and CAFTA)

2. Penn was known to be a lobbyist for CAFTA back when the campaign started. She "fired" him for getting caught and he was not fired, just moved to a less visible position. Penn is a republican lobbyist who never stopped being just that--he sabotaged her campaign. I think he has something on her and Bill so they are stuck with him. Bill did make 800K for his lobby efforts and it did go in their joint bank accounts. Great to be "against something" and still make money on it.

3. Fl and Mi did screw themselves, but HRC''s actions made it a bigger mess than it would have been and split the party in ways no partisan would. It was not their votes that were a problem it was her lying about her pledge and trying to recreate the rules so she could win. She''s dishonest and that is putting it mildly.

THAT is my one solace about HRC. If she is on the ticket, when the swiftboating happens, she will probably outnasty the Republicans and may even do it to the point that they run for cover. The passive, do not overly criticize attitude of Obamas gets a bit wearing. After all, that high altitude of the high ground where one does not legitimately take an oppenent to task is missing many a great opportunity to get in some well deserved digs.

I don''t necessarily agree that "change" requires candidates to play nicey nice--but I do value honesty and having some defined lines. I don''t know where HRC''s line is, and Obama appears in some ways to be either too weak or scared or passive to know when to attack and how far to carry it. So for an attack dog--HRC would be great--but like most attack dogs--who she bites cannot really be controlled--heaven help the owners--if she turns on them.

I agree. She needs to "stand down" and accept that Obama has won. No point in bashing HRC. I support her policies and issues, which are nearly identical to Obamas.

Posted by zoe2006 at 11:42 AM : Jun 04, 2008

Thanks--but I can''t help bashing her, because she won''t stop it all. It is not to destroy her per se, more than it is to remove the veneer or facade she has on her so that people can see what really is before us. HRC is a scary person and her policies are irrelevant. KNow why? Because her character indicates her policies are just things we want to hear---maybe not even things she will do--we don''t know what we have in HRC--she has lied about her stances, dismissed other positions, reneged on pledges, said horrible things, then later shrugged them off or said we took them the wrong way. So..If Bush rolled out HRC''s policies would you believe he meant it or enacted it? Policies are words--that''s all, one thing HRC and Bush have both shown is that they can say one thing, do another, lie about it or shrug and don''t care what the rest of us think of such a betrayal. She gets bashed until she stops or the mask cracks so deeply that everyone can see what she is and what that means to us.

zoe2006: thank you. thank you. thank you.

Anyway!!!! wow. I have reservations re HRC as VP. I''ve been discouraged by her behavior and Bill''s too. Obama said that Lincoln drew his opponents around him in his cabinet, & I like that idea, as I think Biden and Edwards have really good heads on their shoulders.

The biggest problem with accepting HRC as VP is not only that she will be rewarded for her ugly campaigning, lies and threats--but that her behavior will become the new low and other races will be run in the same ugly way.

people do what works--if this type of campaigning and ugliness is rewarded with any type of win, others will follow suit, each campaign will reach a new low and the Democrats will give a green light to racist campaigns where anything goes, the rules are ignored and others are arm twisted and decency is ignored.

I''m a mom and I know for a fact that if a parent rewards bad behavior, they open the door to more of the same. For the sake of the Dem party (I''m an Independent) decency, and not turning into clones of the Republican mud baths--every single decent Dem should be saying NO to HRC and her new gambit--if y9ou don''t prepare for race to be a political football and prepare for this horror/nightmare to be played out again and again by others who saw that it worked for the Clintons.

She planted questions and questioners in Iowa and got caught, she sent out robocalls about Obama that were lies in NH and later those who sent out the calls had to apologize, her campaign smeared Obama over NAFTA remarks in Canada, even though they had made the reassurances not Obama''s team. Hillary lies a lot. not just about her credentials, but about things that matter--she also does not know how to admit defeat--or a wrong decision like the Iraq war. ON and on, when I read her policies--it is like reading a fairy tale--she already has a penchant for lying and reneging--none of us knows whether she will do what she wrote or not--what we do know is if she fails to deliver, the most we will get is a shrug and the finger. There is a HUGE disconnect here--between what HRC says to win a vote and what she reveals about herself, her goals and how she will behave when that vote is no longer needed.

The same goes for Clinton, I follow her policies, not some few rants made by people or the media. Look and issues and policies -Posted by zoe2006 at 11:33 AM : Jun 04, 2008

I agree with you that policies and issues should be looked at, but so should her character--because it is THAT which will determine if she will even adhere to, honor or jettison her policies--but here''s the thing with HRC--she lies a lot and does not keep her word--so what about her policies? She tells people what they want to hear, but what she actually does is something else. I don''t hold people responsible completely for what acquaintances do around them--though I do question what specifically that relationship means to them. I DO hold people responsible for what THEY say and do. IN this campaign, HRC has told many lies and showed she is two faced.

She said she was not for NAFTA, the record and her own schedule prove she was (not to mention her speeches supporting it). She says she is not for CAFTA--yet she and her husband make 800 thousand dollars while he plays bad cop lobbyer for Columbia to her good cop, I''m against it. Mutual benefit there. She signs a pledge endorsing not seating the delegates and not counting the elections in Florida and Mi--she breaks it when she needs a win. next post

So will Hillary join the ranks of Mike Gravel and Ron Paul as "still in the race" but obviously not the nominee in order to maybe "influence" the direction of their respective parties?

Boring.

Let''s liven it up by Speculating on WHO would be the "perfect match" for McCain since he''s been OUT of the limelight lately.

It would be "interesting" if McCain would pick up RON PAUL as HIS VP. Probably wouldn''t take 2 minutes for McCain''s famous TEMPER to flare over Ron Paul''s stance of LEAVING IRAQ IMMEDIATELY.

Hopefully he wouldn''t call Paul a "C unt" like McCain called his Second wife in public (Lord know if he does that in public What he calls her in private).

but I am sure Clinton will support Obama and help his presidency or else we will end up with another 8 years of McBush. Posted by zoe2006 at 11:27 AM : Jun 04, 2008

When exactly will HRC start supporting Obama? She did not even have the decency to acknowledge his win and congratulate him for that achievement, it was still all about her and her campaign. When do you think she will concede? Never? Implicit in her message to many of us is the threat that she will only concede if Obama gives her the VP job and then, implicit within that, is that he is only VP until he meets with an unfortunate accident and hanging over all of that is the threat that if he does not give her the VP, she will go over to McCains side or will drag out the Dem primary sooo long that she will achieve the same torpor. HRC cannot give up--but it is not a sign of resilience, or tenacity or gumption of any of the other admiration marks people give it--we see the same type of personality in people like Bundy, Gacy, Dahmer, etc--they never stopped. They were relentless and single minded--only capture and death stopped them--we think this trait is laudable, just because HRC has not been caught killing people, yet?

There is something disturbing about a personality that does not know when to quit and puts no one above her own personal ambitions. She is something--and it "ain''t" normal or pretty.
