Comments on: Obama Blasts McCain On Veterans' Benefits
Criticizes GOP Candidate For Opposing College Scholarships For Those Who've Served One Tour

mccains bill does not even come close to what Senator Webb''s bi-partisan bill does. So please clarify how helping our Troops get an education so they can make a decent life for themselves and their families is going to hurt them? Like mccain you make no sense at all and do not really support our Troops, you are all talk and nothing else but hot air. - Reply to this comment
- Does McCain really think that withholding benefits for those enlisting for a single tour will enhance enlistment? Really?
Maybe the enlistmnt ads that the military runs should emphasis that you won''t get squat until you re-enlist. If you''re maimed during your initial tour college is not for you.

My thoughts exactly - Thanks ! ....... I''m betting that Repugs like Mudrose would side-step these arguments and act like they never seen it. Cheers! - Reply to this comment
- %u201Cthe Department of Defense has specific concerns about legislation sponsored by Senator Webb because it lacks transferability and could negatively impact military retention.%u201D Adding, there are many other proposals before the House and Senate and the President %u201Cspecifically supports%u201D one %u201Cproposed by Senators Graham, Burr, and McCain because it allows for the transferability of education benefits and calibrates an increase in education benefits to time in the service.%u201D There were two versions of this bill and President Harry Reid held up only the house version which gives watered down benefits only to GIs. The Senate bill gives benefits to GIs and allows these benefits to be transferred to family members. It also is based on length of service and give greater benefits and opportunites to those that have served longer. This is just a suck up to election day politics that Effendi Snob-oma hopes to fool all of you with. And what I find astounding, is that some of you would ever believe such lies about McCain.

- As one of the most prominant Veterans in the country mccain should be ashamed of himself for not supporting this bill. These Soldiers volunteered and stood up to fight for our country unlike you keyboard warriors who sit here and want to deny them any benefits. I would rather see my tax dollars going to help these Soldiers make a better life for themselves and their families than line the pockets of halliburton and blackwater. This is the very least we can do to thank them for their sacrifice, and their brave and honorable service to our Country.

the Iraqi war is legal, demonic-rat hero oscar, emmy, nobel prize winning al bore says so,,,
it actually never ended since it only stopped by the signing of a ceasefire,,, just like the korean war,,,
the resumption of hostilities was only a matter of time since iraq broke the ceasefire agreement,,,
blame saddam for iraq,,, Even clintoon and the dems wanted the resumption of hostilities back in 1998,,,
"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
"Iraq''s search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002
Moreover, no international law can prevent the United States from taking actions to protect its vital interests, when it is manifestly clear that there is a choice to be made between law and survival. I believe, however, that such a choice is not presented in the case of Iraq. Indeed, should we decide to proceed, that action can be justified within the framework of international law rather than outside it. In fact, though a new UN resolution may be helpful in building international consensus, the existing resolutions from 1991 are sufficient from a legal standpoint. - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

Are we to take it that you believe that military service and the ability to properly take care of those who have agreed to serve should be tied to how much it costs?
If that is the case, why then should we allow the C-inC to send our soldiers into war on the basis of lies, and have them compensated less than those who might have served longer, but never saw battle? - Reply to this comment
