rubraindead: That is just your opinion. My God tells me to love one another and to be non judgemental. I feel sorry for you that you believe in a God that taught you to judge and dispel others who are not like you.

Just because Ellen has a TV show and is living in sin does not make her an authority on anything. She is just a foolish lost little girl who tries and tries to justify her wrong thinking and drags her little groupies along the wrong road of sin. Yes two women is very different than a man and a woman. rubraindead

tech77usa: If marriage is only for the purpose of producing offspring...do you deny sterile men or women the right of marriage? Do you deny people who are past child bearing age the right to marriage? What if the government decides to ban all further marriages until the population is under control...would you have a problem with that?

I am still waiting for someone to give me a convincing arguement why I should be against same s.e.x marriages.

Any sexual activity that does not involve a man and a woman married according to the word of God is wrong sinful behavior. Man and man is wrong. Woman and woman is wrong. God created man and woman and married them. Anything else is rebellion against God and God''s law. What the sodomites want is new victims.

Not only is same *** marriage wrong and very sinful it is downright disgusting. God calls homesexuality an abomination. Gay is not gay. Gay means happy. Homosexuality has nothing to do with real love or happiness. It has everything to do with wrong thinking and learned ungodly sinful behavior.

Some people who object to gay marriage say it''ll lead to polygamous marriage too. To which I say, so what?. Polygamous marriage is no more the governments business then gay marriage or straight marriage. As long as all concerned are consenting adults I don''t see a problem with a marriage involving 2 men, 2 women, 2 men and 1 women, 2 men and 2 women, etc. If a man wants 10 wives or a woman wants 10 husbands and all are agreeable then so what?

If homosexual marriage is legalized, get ready for polygamous marraige to be legalized. The logic that permits the one is the same as the other. The law could not permit homosexual marriage and deny polygamous marriage. Ladies, how does that sit with you?

Polygamous marraige is illegal under the law. Same *** marriage has never been illegal or defined in the law.

I don''t have any problem with two people getting married legally or spiritually.

Polygamous marriage is illegal and should be. A guy with ten wives all getting benefits under the law. It ain''t gonna happen.

Same *** marriage is not a religious issue but more a personal issue, and cannot be argued under the right of freedom of religious beliefs.

"marriage" is a religious institution, not a civilian one. A religious leader would be more able to rewrite what a "marriage" defines than a politician.

Let Obama''s preacher marry them.

Insert g.a.y.s and s.e.x for the asterisks. I forgot about censorship.

Marriage has meant 2 heterosexual people for my entire life, so I find it confusing to call all unions "marriage." It would be nice if we could just have another word for *** and indicate that, wherever the word "marriage" or any derived morph (married, for example) appears, the rights convey to the new word that represents unions of two same-*** individuals.

I''d vote for Colin Powell or Condoleezza Rice--I''d campaign for them. I''m lukewarm to McCain now--I preferred him to Bush in earlier elections where he was swift-boated by extremists in his own party. But Obama is just too in-tight with the U.N. (even pushing for the U.S. to make promises it can''t be certain to be able to fulfill), the gun-ban lobby (he is rabid about disarming ordinary citizens and doing nothing about the 90%+ of repeat offenders who committed the crimes), and too far to the left for me on many issues.

But I really do want Ellen and her partner to be able to form a legal couple, and I''d love to see McCain walk her down the aisle!

It''''s not fair what happened to Hillary. It''''s not fair.
I''''m a life long Democrat, but I will vote for McCain this November. I don''''t care if McCain is pro-life,pro-war, tax breaks for the rich, pro-NAFTA. To be honest, I don''''t care if he''''s another Bush.
I just don''''t like that Obama boy.

Exactly. I think a lot of folks are confusing the word "marriage" with a religious ceremony. You can get "married" by a justice of the peace, a judge, or anyone else who has the legal authority to marry someone. The reason g a y s want to use the word "marriage" at this point is because of the federal statutes on marriage. In federal law that word is used several thousand times to define property right, social security benefits, child custody issues, etc.
So one of two things need to happen. Either g a y s be allowed to get married, or the federal statues be changed to "marriage and/or civil unions."

In a court of law it''s a contract between two people, recognized by the state to co habitate. There is NO requirement that they have kids or even that they sleep together. The Bigots invented the Religious Connection in the EXACT same way they''ve invented that line throughout our history. What most people don''t know is that the Religious Reich has be against EVERY SINGLE RIGHT CONTAINED in the Constitution at one time or another. They have been on the WRONG side of EVERY single social struggle this nation has gone through as well. Sieg Heil and Amen.

Posted by GrammaWhamma at 06:26 PM : May 22, 2008

you''ll be waiting a LOOOOOOOOONG time. I got on this thread a few hours ago, had to leave, and came back to find that no one still has yet explained that. mudrose has been the closest... except, he was refuted and just then decided that he didn''t care what anyone else thought. This prariefox person is just downright ugly and hateful, but has not proffered a coherent excuse as to why it''s not right.
