mbcsmith...Never, and I repeat never has Obama said anything about "surrender". In your usual disingenious way you twist the truth to suit your needs. Most intelligent Americans want a withdrawl from Iraq but they want it done in a safe and controlled way. We all know that it will take time. As for your comments about Hamas...they were elected and we must deal with them in a diplomatic way. Yes, they are our enemies but they exist and the barrel of a gun is not a very good place to negoiate from. And please...negoiate does NOT mean surrender. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

In 2004, John McCain said about Iraq: "It%u2019s clear that the end is very much in sight".

With foresight like that, you''re a visionary in mbcsmith''s book.

Prevalent Barackmetric pressure is rising in all constituencies.

An Extreme Political Storm Warning remains in effect throughout the United States until November 4 2008.

An Extreme Political Storm Warning means that conditions are favorable for intense hope and change.

If you campaign or vote in an area that is prone to political stagnation be prepared to move with the times and vote for an out of the ordinary candidate especially during this national election.

This type of storm is not common and can cause inconveniences for some voters.

Heavy debate with strong views will add to the stormy political conditions.

Voters with moderate views may experience some anguish.

The worst of the storm will be experienced in the Denver Colorado area in late August.

Nationally active supporters and voters in the warned areas should be alert for rising temperaments and take appropriate action to protect pride and dignity.

Move your political position to higher ground at times of high sentiment.

John McCain quotes pre-Iraq War and during Iraq War:

"Because I know that as successful as I believe we will be, and I believe that the success will be fairly easy, we will still lose some American young men or women." [CNN, 9/24/02]

"We%u2019re not going to get into house-to-house fighting in Baghdad. We may have to take out buildings, but we%u2019re not going to have a bloodletting of trading American bodies for Iraqi bodies." [CNN, 9/29/02]

"But the point is that, one, we will win this conflict. We will win it easily." [MSNBC, 1/22/03]

"But I believe, Katie, that the Iraqi people will greet us as liberators." [NBC, 3/20/03]

"It%u2019s clear that the end is very much in sight." [ABC, 4/9/03]

"There%u2019s not a history of clashes that are violent between Sunnis and Shiahs. So I think they can probably get along." [MSNBC, 4/23/03]

"This is a mission accomplished. They know how much influence Saddam Hussein had on the Iraqi people, how much more difficult it made to get their cooperation." [This Week, ABC, 12/14/03]

"I%u2019m confident we%u2019re on the right course." [ABC News, 3/7/04]

Yeah, what a visionary.

McCain has disagreed with Bush on many things including Iraq. He promoted the idea of more boots on the ground two years before it actually happened and the surge became a success. i call that a visionary.

This from the same guy that sings "bomb bomb bomb Iran" to the press?

McCain may be a "visionary", but you''re as dumb as a rock.

mbcsmith...What world are you living in? Six years of low unemployment? True if you are working in the high paying world of fast food. Low interest rates. Check credit card rates...21 to 30 percent looks good? Strong growth and prosperity? Yeah, in you''re in the top 1%. The surge a success...Almost 50 Americans killed last month. And as for allies..most of the world looks on us as a joke. They have no respect for us at all. Your arguements just won''t hunt.

If the U.S. surrendes Iraq, we will have no allies, especially in the middle east.

Those economic policies provided six years of low unemployment, low interest rates, strong growth and prosperity

There is nothing to lose in Iraq - it doesn''t belong to us and it is their oil isn''t it. No allies - you are too late in worrying about that...

The National Debt is reaching 10 trillion and you are talking plastic economy. 5/6/04 President Bush traveled Friday to New Mexico, the state that was decided by the closest margin in 2000, where he hailed a "growing" U.S. economy and record home ownership. - how about now...

The surge (escalation) has not worked - a civil war is a civil war and where are those completed goals.

"If the U.S. surrendes Iraq, we will have no allies, especially in the middle east."
Bull. Saudi Arabia, Israel, Kuwait, the puppet of Afghanistan, among others will still be allies. So you are factually wrong here.

"Those economic policies provided six years of low unemployment, low interest rates, strong growth and prosperity"

The great majority of Americans are falling behind due to gas prices, rent, food prices, insurance, etc. Falling behind. Not getting ahead, but falling behind

Did McCain ever call for the resignation of Rumsfeld?
No.
In fact, here are some Iraq quotes from your "visionary"

John McCain quotes pre-Iraq War and during Iraq War:

"Because I know that as successful as I believe we will be, and I believe that the success will be fairly easy, we will still lose some American young men or women." [CNN, 9/24/02]
