How about balancing the budget and raising interest rates to support the dollar? That will do more to bring down gas prices in a sustainable way than anything else.

Temporarily removing the gas tax is ridiculous. Either it pays for something associated with driving, like road construction/repair or the environment and is therefore not superfluous or it does not in which case it shouldn''t exist in the first place.

We need to get around this end justifies the means thinking in America. We will pay a price for poorly thought through economics- we already are.

Too bad neither Bush, Hillary Clinton, John McCain, and Obama don''t understand economics or are at least too interested in short term vote pandering to act responsibly.

Regulations are rules.

A world without rules is a world in anarchy.

I don''t remember any President acting as Bush has. He was also the first one to accuse hid detractors of not being patriotic. It occurred in a speech after September 11 during the formation of the Dept. of Homeland Security. Democrats wanted to put civil service protections in place for the new employees which the Republicans opposed. He questioned their patriotism, the first one to do so. He has divided this nation for eight years and supported policies that have benefitted the wealthy and big business. He certainly does not want a Democratic Congress to succeed. He is an extremist as well (God wanted him to be President, and to invade Iraq-so he believes) The day his term ends in January of 2009 will be a good day for America. He has ruined us financially and economically, destroyed us morally, divided us unequivicolly and diminished our respect in the world.

Both of Bush''s Harken Energy and Spectrum 7 as oil and gas exploration "companies" were abject failures. Because he and Cheney could not find a quart of oil in a fillin'' station, nor a drop of oil under a car, these cowards resort to stealing it (Iraq). Keep in mind that Halliburton is merely a service consortium. Both of them are considered a disgrace to the industry.
